Melbourne,Australia Summer Carnival 2010
Well as we Know the big races are just around the corner, Who will Win the Big 3  Caulfield Cup,Cox Plate & of course the Major
Melbourne Cup!!!!:$:. Shootout is apparently the Dead Cert for the Cox plate but alot can change before then. Can't wait to see what new Hero's emerge from the pack:tro: |
Look out for Katie Lee. They had been talking about the Cox Plate, but I don't think she'll get the 2040m, so I'm happy that they've changed their minds and they're going to go for the fillies and mares races.
I really think she's the best horse we've sent over there since Sunline. |
I will Def Black Book her mate & Hopefully make some:$::$::rolleyes:

Toorak Toff must be hard to beat in the Golden Rose. His last start win was huge.
Didn't like Crystal Lily's first-up run, but she could improve a lot on that. |
I like her so much and can't believe I'm going against her (especially with my favorite jockey) but Hinchinbrook for the win here. :)
(... and More Joyous, of course)! |
I have to go my Fav Mare ;)
4 AVENUE ..With 1 SQUAMOSA & 11 CRYSTAL LILY to fight out the other:D |
Littorio injured and out for the season (poor guy)...
* * * Good luck to Newport (oh shut up I still like him :D ) (Patinack Farm Premiers' Cup, Rosehill) and to Here De Angels ( should win the Clamms Seafood Stakes, Caulfield). $200,000, Group Two, WFA New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) @ Caulfield No Runner (Barrier) Jockey TAB FIXED ODDS Win Place 9 SHOOT OUT (6) S KATSIDIS 2.70 1.33 12 TYPHOON TRACY (10) L NOLEN 3.10 1.40 8 SO YOU THINK (12) S W ARNOLD 7.50 2.26 2 WHOBEGOTYOU (1) M RODD 9.00 2.56 13 FAINT PERFUME (7) MICHELLE PAYNE 11.00 2.95 10 ZABRASIVE (5) C NEWITT 15.00 3.73 14 VALDEMORO (9) G BOSS 18.00 4.31 4 SIRMIONE (14) M J ZAHRA 41.00 8.80 5 RED RULER (8) STEVEN KING 61.00 12.70 1 MASTER O'REILLY (2) D DUNN 101.00 20.51 7 MOATIZE (4) C D SYMONS 126.00 25.39 6 BUCCELLATI (3) B RAWILLER 126.00 25.39 11 BRIGHTNIGHT (13) J M WINKS 151.00 30.26 I actually think Faint Perfume of Whobegotyou wins here. Tracy wins the next out. Good luck to Red Ruler here... come home safe (don't expect him to hit the board but - just like my boy Black Piranha finally did last season (the one time i didn't bet him damnit!) he will have one great win this season. It just won't be here). |
Shootout wins this Daylight 2nd .....................Form Horse;)

Good ol' Rick Hore Lacy, he may be a mand man, but boy can he train - and he knows when he's got a good one!
He told me back in March that he had a stallion prospect on his hands in the shape of this fella, and so far he looks to be right. He should have won a GR1 as a 2yo, but Cassidy butchered him in Sydney in the Autumn. How was Reward For Effort allowed to go off at $3.40........ that was buying money! Probably the biggest win of the day was So You Think, not just the way he won, the fact he was still on the bridle when he went past Typhoon Tracey! Considering he's had minor surgery and a very long spell, that was massive. Big credit goes out to Shoot Out who toughed it out three wide and came home hard, but he's gonna need to find even more improvement if he is going to get past So You Think in the Cox Plate judging by this effort. MASSIVE RUN. Must also mention Moudre - sublime win at Caulfield today. He couldn't be with a nicer trainer, Ciaron and I had a good chat while I was down at Mt Gambier in March and he told me to watch for this horse - and I've yet to back him!!!!! He looks like a serious Caulfield Cup contender after today's win. |
Also, just as an aside, we had a full brother to Hay List born on the farm this morning. A big colt (taking after his brother) with plenty of quality. Early days, but he looks like a good foal.

My head is still spinning from looking at this field.
I know how good Heart of Dreams is but wow... the odds on some of the ones I really like are insane. Not sure how to play it. Maybe I'll just watch and root for C'est la Guerre, Red Ruler, Monoco boy and about 5 others. :D :wf Good luck to anyone playing. |
Great Run from Shocking..thought he wasn't going to make it & it was going to be Heart of Dreams:D, Was at a country meet @ Beaudesert Drinking beer & still losing my Money;)..So could only watch the race on a little screen:(

Shocking was the only horse in the race to break 36sec for last 600m and the only one to break 24sec for last 400m;) |
Just watched replay's of Randwick ,looked like a real Front runners Track,Congrats Theseo:tro:

Everyone thinks you're sexy, sexy, and yes congrats to Theseo!
... AND Strawberry girl! |
I was lucky enough to get invited to the Australian Horse Of The Year awards, and Hall Of Fame induction at Crown last night.
Great night (not such a good morning today!). Typhoon Tracey (deservedly) picked up the top award got HOY. Bart Cummings and his horse So You Think and Faint Perfume all came away with awards. p.s. a get well soon messge to Bart who took a fall recently and broke his pelvis. Shocking (unsurprisingly) lifted the award for top stayer. Crystal Lily came away with the 2yo award Starspangledbanner lifted the international award, and surprisingly and rather frustratingly for many he grabbed the top sprinter award. A very good night had by all. |
Heard a rumour that Wealth Princess has torn a tendon. :(
I don't know if she can come back from that, and if she does, whether she'll be as good. She was a huge talent. It's a shame she never got that G1 win (she was beaten by a neck or less in two of them). |
Sucks and yeah I just saw this ed... really a shame.
http://www.racingandsports.com.au/ra..._Out_Of_Spring It IS, however, better than this one. I'm sorry but this piece is 4 lines and when I was reading it i thought she was gone (till that last one)... http://www.racenet.com.au/news/626/62623.asp |

What were they thinking? "Has lost one of his potential stars" and then they use past tense in that 3rd line. Just awful. |

Heading off the the Valley on Saturday to see Hay List. Should be a good race. I hope he's fit and ready to do himself justice. Not sure if Moonee Valley will suit the big fella, but he's hopefully got too much class for the rest. Reward For Effort concerns me though and he's unlikely to get to the lead early, if he does, then he is a superstar.
Clyde, for once can you act like a grown up? If you want to contribute to a thread with something meaningful, by all means please do, but if you're just going to make childish comments about anything and anyone..... don't bother. MMSC, are you able to just remove those posts - there are no significance in them and it's pi$$ing us off. Or maybe just tell him you're not interested in teenagers. |

Should be a good day at the Valley tomorrow (as long as the weather stays dry...... unlikely). A few good races to be seen but only really going to see Hay List and his connections. I think he's way better than these lot, but the race looks very unlikely to suit him and his style, so I'm a little worried. Hopefully class will see him through. |
It's in the upper North Island, about two hours north of Auckland.
It's a very small town, but it's a great track because it's sand-based, so the drainage is amazing. It's been a wet week, but the track looks set to be a dead 5 - fantastic. And when you go around the back of the grandstand, you're basically at the beach, so the scenery is great on a nice day. One time I went out there between races and saw a whale in the bay. I'll definitely find a TV to watch the Melbourne races tomorrow, though, and also some from Sydney - their fields look pretty nice. 2009 NZ Derby winner Coniston Bluebird is at a whopping 300-1 in the Theo Marks! Probably rightly so against that lineup over 1400m. |
Sounds like a great track to visit. I'll put it on the list.
Do you get to Karaka for the yearling sale in Jan/Feb? I might be heading over next year with a few to sell - but would prefer to stay at home to be honest. Looks very competitive stuff at the Valley tomorrow, I'm looking forward to it. Been given a good word for Pitt Street in the first. Likely to be a big price, so we'll see how it goes. |
