My favorite moment from the TVG Zenyatta telecast..

when I watched it on DVR earlier this morning....

It was when Simon Bray said "The great Hallowed Dreams"

Well, she was much better than Pepper's Pride.

ateamstupid 08-08-2010 07:54 PM

I liked Trevor's call:

"Zenyatta, Zenyatta, Zenyatta, Zenyatta, Interval or something, Zenyatta, Zenyatta, Zenyatta, Zenyatta, Zenyatta ZENYATTAZENYATTAZENYATTAOMGZENYATTA!!!!!!!!!!"

Without a doubt.

I actually caught a little flack from Tector for overrating her back in the day ... but great? my jaw dropped.

I love how she torments you guys, keep it up IDS, I'm glad I came back. I've never had this much fun on the board. Hahaha.

It was brutal.

They should have him call her workouts in the mornings.

I think Hallowed Dreams faced better horses in most of her ungraded LA races than Zenyatta has in almost all of her Grade 1's.

Here was the point when I got caught up in overratting Hallowed Dreams. She had won 23 of her first 24 career starts, and broke into the side of the gate and was rushed in her lone defeat.

As entertaining as it is, you are going to blow an artery soon IDS, every veiled comment you make just shows us she has clearly gotten to you. I know it's sadistic of me to say this but it's really been fun watching you try to pick her apart and you are still at it. Honestly I love it.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-08-2010 08:23 PM

my artery's are fine. I had an EKG a few months ago.

Zenyatta is a complete fraud - her fan base is unbearably retarded - and your posting "skillz" suck sh!t through a straw.

Dude anyone who calls her a fraud is a ****ing ******. Even Joey said yesterday its not like the Z haters dont like her, they just hate her campaign. Calling her a fraud is total BULLSHIT. 18/18 says a lot, I dont care how bad the competition is.

This statement--or the overall notion that it represents--is really easy to expose as way off base.

My favorite part of the Zenyatta/Hirsch week was when Mike Smith claimed riding her was "an out of body experience". I would have thought for a small guy that riding Chantal Sutherland had potential to be an "out of body experience", but that's just me.

Chantal Sutherland could ride Malibu Prayer and she'd toast Zenyatta.

Now that I've had a chance to look up LBT's pedigree - I'm not sure Zenyatta could beat Lisa's Booby Trap on synthetics.

It's a lot of fun being as smart as your typical Zenyatta fan.

They're actually just big fans of The Police album. Picking Zenyatta to win was really a giant hunch bet for those guys. They had no idea she was actually the best horse.

Considering you think St. Trinians was a good break from winning the Vanity, I am happy you think my posting "skillz" suck sh!t through a straw.

Unfortunately you are revealing more about your lack of ability to assess race dynamics and their influence on a horses' style. You also really don't get what she is about. Whether you think she is a fraud/ducking her competition/or some other foolish idea, you just refuse to evaluate her objectively. Evaluating a horse objectively is an absolute necessity for a handicapper. You are obviously showing that you fall dramatically short in that regard. And your handicapping will undoubtedly suffer as well. Good luck in your betting.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-08-2010 10:33 PM

Uh huh, because we all know you're proven as both a better bettor and handicapper than I am.

Dream on.

Zenyatta wouldn't have had a chance against Hallowed Dreams at six furlongs and probably at seven furlongs. Among Hallowed Dreams' open company victims at FG during the 2000-2001 meet were Roxelana, Fiesty Countess, My Alibi, and Steal A Heart.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-08-2010 11:07 PM

I remember fooling myself into thinking she was one of the best female sprinters in the country because of her record and her performances... and later taking abuse for it when she finally lost a step or two.

That wasn't an unreasonable position to take at the time. I wasn't a big fan of her until that FG meet when she won for fun in the Pan Zareta and Victoria Lass.

What baffles me about all of this is after she won the BC classic even the staunchest Zenyatta doubters said "well ok that finally proves she's a great horse". Since then she's won three more and now she sucks again. How can that be:confused:

You are rated based on your competition, no? How does beating the likes of Rinterval further her greatness?

I like Zenyatta. No, I really like Zenyatta. I don't like seeing her face total crap all the time. That's probably most fans' complaint.

18 for 18 makes her greatness unquestioned IMO.

No one said she sucks. The idea that people defend her without regard for context baffles me. Any horse that wins 18 in a row against any manner of competition obviously is a superior individual. But what I maintain is that this years campaign has shown her to be merely superior to untested and decidely inferior (to be kind) fillies and really hasnt done a single thing to make anyone but the ardent supporters believe otherwise. Winning the BC was a very nice accomplishment (despite the obviously weak field for the event) but it hardly qualifies her for the ridiclousness that is spouted about her place among the greats, all of which proved themselves time after time in the top races, winning and losing to the best competition.

How "great" do you have to be in this sport to be qualified for the Hall of Fame? If Point Given was elected, ANYONE could be...

I think we'll find out if Smarty Jones ever makes it in.

I can't imagine a situation where Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra don't both get in. Of course, I also can't imagine why Sky Beauty is still in the waiting room.

Except for a certain someone.
