Nice photos!

Many thanks for the pics. Especially for me, Mister Marti Gras. I really like him. I watched him in a race months ago and he didn't get the best of rides. That's putting it nicely. I put him in my watch. I caught him at Indiana and he was 20-1'ish and he won a nice race. I had him yesterday, 19-1 behind Hops and hit the super.

This horse taught me the value of watching races carefully for the purpose of jotting down names when appropriate to add to my watches.

Your pic is now my 'puter shot.

Thanks again.

You would really like it- it's a great place and obviously the DT contingent that hangs there is a lot of fun.

SBL- nice pics. You didn't happen to snap one of my boy Colonel Klink did you?

Coach Pants 07-18-2010 08:17 AM

That stinks, wish I could have seen him again at Arlington.

At least I got to feed him a peppermint at Classic Mile. Then he tried to bite my hand off.

sorry to hear the colonel is retiring. he seemed to have so much potential, and was certainly a character! hope he finds a good home.

SuffolkGirl 07-19-2010 07:57 AM

Sorry to hear about Col. Klink. He looks like he could be a good hunter/jumper.

OldDog 07-19-2010 08:32 AM

Great pics - thanks for sharing them!

Thanks for the photo of General Quarters. Poor guy - did being something like 6-wide in the turn do him in? :(

Excellent photos.................love that track. Only lived in Chicago for 4 years but always thought AP was one of the best venues I had ever been to. Love the saddling area and the views.

Last year John came back to the barn to "meet" Klink. I even lent him a book on Hogan's Heores that he never returned. I was realistic in my expectations of Klink but thought after he won the MSW last Summer that we might have a decent IL Bred for a few years. But, things went downhill with his health and it's obvious he can't race anymore. As Tom said, we have a great relationship with a farm around us that finds good foster homes for any of our retired horses.

Holly and I are working on the finances such that when he's done with his retraining we might be able to take him over and keep him at the farm where we have our other horse.

EPM is such a horrible disease, let's hope he can beat it.

You need to message me then because he is going to this adaption facility before the end of the month. He is out of our control then as we relinquish ownership to him.

You might want to talk to Chuck before considering this.
