Ausable moves to Saratoga with Gary's string this weekend, and the Sunday, 7/25 start is the target...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick update on AUSABLE CHASM in anticipation of a debut July 25 at Saratoga.. The filly turned in a sharp final work at Belmont Friday morning getting the half mile in :48.15 which shared bullet status for the distance among 53 a.m. drillers. She will ship to Saratoga with Gary's string over the weekend and enter Thursday (7/20) for a 5.5f NYB 2yo filly Maiden Special Weight Sunday (7/25) with Rajiv Maragh riding.

Before the start, she will gallop daily over the Saratoga main track and visit the gate and paddock daily. We will know if the race fills and is used Thursday, but there is every expectation that Ausable Chasm will get to make her bow on the first Sunday of the meet. Hope partners will be able to make the trip to the Spa!

Added those that did not receive the Email.

Only additional news is that Chasm came out of her work great...

Kasept 07-20-2010 06:26 AM

NEWS/NOTES: Ausable Chasm settled in well by Monday to the new surroundings at Saratoga. She was slightly agitated Sunday afternoon when I visited, but that is not unusual for a horse that is relocated. She also is exceedingly sharp and on edge from her workout Friday. That was evident Monday when she made her first trip to the main track, as she was quite a handful for Mario in her gallop. She did not get a chance to go to the Paddock Monday, but will start to make daily visits there today in preparation for Sunday's anticipated start..

RAJIV A MIRAGE: An issue that cropped up Monday was the likely loss of Rajiv Maragh's services for Sunday. Maragh has first call on a John Kimmel NYB filly he has been working that was supposed to start in open company previously, but will instead go with Empires on Sunday. Kimmel actually told me about this A.P. Indy filly during Belmont Week, as he and the Bromans expect big things from her. In lieu of Maragh, one option is Victor Santiago who has worked Ausable Chasm 2-3 times and was eager to rider her in the afternoon. More on the rider decision after Gary gets a chance to deal with the uber-professional community of jockey agents..

Overnight out soon...

is this another new face in the exciting adventure of Dee Tee Stables?

Heels1989 07-22-2010 02:25 PM

Picking up BT and we will be driving up sunday am. Should arrive prior to first race.

pointman 07-22-2010 03:07 PM

Very excited that she is running on Sunday.

Of note on the Kimmel that Maragh chose, I recall Andy giving a stat on AP Indy FTS going 6f or less and if I recall correctly they are 0 for a very large number. If anyone has the exact stats in this situation, I would appreciate it if you post it.

Good Luck to all the partners on what will be a very exciting Sunday at the . . . Spaaaaaaaaaa!

yes, they have terrible 1st time out sprint stats and they are often over bet.

Other than the 3 I'm not especially impressed by anyone and it could be too short for the 3.

Field of just seven at 5.5fs with Solis riding from the rail ... hmmm.... I see a slow break followed by a 6 wide trip on the far turn. He will give her a good education anyway.

Note for partners attending Saratoga Sunday

Ausable Chasm continues to be doing very well going into Sunday's 2nd race at Saratoga where she will make her debut. She again went to the gate today and toured the paddock, and after 6 full days here is completely relaxed and comfortable. While there are more highly touted and distinguished pedigrees signed on for tomorrow's NYB MSW, I doubt there will be a filly that looks as good as she will.

Partners and family able to attend should assemble by the Carolina Barbecue Cafe (across from the Carousel) immediately after the 1st race, and we will head to the paddock. (About 1:05p). It promises to be another fun and hopefully unforgettable experience. See you at Saratoga!

Steve

AeWingnut 07-24-2010 08:39 PM

I am unable to wager on any Saratoga races so I won't be weighing her down

Good luck everyone

Lloydobler--Ausable Chasm connection

The breeder for the #6 (Page by Page) in Ausable Chasm's race is Stonegate Stables. The same stable where Lloyd is spending his turnout time this summer.

Uncle Daddy 07-25-2010 10:18 AM

Best of luck to all the connections. Will be glued to the laptop!

keithting 07-25-2010 11:52 AM

Good Luck to all DEETEE'ers today. Will be watching from the Sunshine State..

Have a Safe trip Alex and Chasm !!!!

randallscott35 07-25-2010 12:19 PM

15MTP....all the best. GL everyone involved.

Many Others 07-25-2010 12:27 PM

good luck to the AC partners - they didn't show her much in the paddock, but she's leading the parade right now and appears to be nice and bouncy and alert - good luck and safe trips to all!

Danzig 07-25-2010 05:24 PM

just wondering how the filly is doing after the race today.

Kasept 07-25-2010 08:30 PM

Finally back.. Filly came out of race clearly tired and with as many experiences under the girth as possible. Pre-race Ausable Chasm was perfect, and Alex Solis told us that she did great waiting in the gate and was sharp when the latch sprung. She did everything he asked including the slightly forced lead change around the eighth pole. She ate a lot of heavy mud, and was being hit hard with it around the turn but tried to run through it according to Solis. Alex then wrapped up on her past the sixteenth. She should benefit from the race in every way imaginable.

It was a great day at the Old Spa, with an enthusiastic crowd of more than 40 Dee Tee partners, their family and friends, as well as a slew of Derby Trailers. Many went to barn after the race as well. Michelle Gately, Bill Kent and Pro Fotog Dave Harmon recorded the day for the Stable, and we should have some terrific pictures Monday or Tuesday. More tomorrow after I get to the track and see how Chasm is feeling in the morning. If all goes well, she'll run back in 21-28 days! Thanks again to everybody that made it possible and all who turned out...

herkhorse 07-25-2010 09:12 PM

thanks to Steve and Gary for a great day. I just hope someone got a picture of BT's glasses. :tro:

SuffolkGirl 07-25-2010 09:37 PM

Just back from a beautiful day at the spa! Thanks to Steve, Gary and Chuck for making this happen. Went back to the barn after the 5th race to see Ausable Chasm and she was tired and very sweet. At one point she was just resting her head on my shoulder as if the weight of it were just too much to bear. It was dinner time as I was leaving and and she stuck her head in her feed bucket before it was even put in her stall. I will assume that she licked it clean. All of Gary's horses looked great and I really enjoyed visiting with Loyal Shadow, Crescent Moon Dr, Tutti Va Bene (who did not make it into the 1st race) and Kittylicious.

We do have a connection with the horse who won the 2nd race - Yawkey Way was saddled by the one an only Cherie.

It was great to see a bunch of folks I haven't seen since Sumwon's start at the Spa. Naturally, I took a slew of pictures and will get them posted up soon.

Thanks again to all who keep this circus running

Kasept 07-26-2010 05:29 AM

Just spoke to Paul Barone, and Ausable Chasm in good shape this morning...

Tired but not listless, which indicates that she was simply short on fitness which was surprising given her bullet at Belmont and overall physical appearance. She ate up last night, and other than two slightly swollen nicks on her back legs, came out of the race in good order.

In the 2nd condition book, there are 6f (Monday, August 16) and 7f (Sunday, August 22) options for Ausable Chasm as a second start...

Danzig 07-26-2010 06:16 AM

glad to hear she is doing well this morning. here's hoping her second start is a marked improvement-it should be.
