Places to eat in Erie.

Anyone need a few recommendations or reviews? If so, I'm here for you.

There are more options than Subway?

The Indomitable DrugS 07-01-2010 06:53 AM

Without a doubt.

herkhorse 07-01-2010 07:15 AM

How's the buffet at PID?

The Indomitable DrugS 07-01-2010 07:18 AM

Worst. Buffet. In. History.

And i've been to those Chinese Buffet type places on super non-busy Monday's when the same food has been out for hours and hours.

Subway's dumpster offers up both fresher and better tasting options than PID's Buffet.

I figured as much. After all, they shoved it over by the racetrack.

Mario Luchetti's on West 26th is my personal favorite ... they're open till 2:30 AM on weekdays and 3am on weekends as well. It's old foggy Italian style pizza .. thinner crust, unpredictable cheese that sometimes slides off and tries to suffocate you when you take the first bite ... and the craziest and most badass pepperoni I've ever seen on a pizza.

Steel City is real good stuff. I love the pizza, but they're more known for those Pittsburgh style sandwhiches where they toss fries and other funky sh!t in there.

John Wildwood's in Edinboro is great. Like Luchetti's - it's open late - and basically within a very short walking distance of four bars.

The crowd around Wildwoods when the bars let out is a lot different than the one around Luchetti's. Mostly all college kids at Wildwoods, - Luchetti's is a rough area.

But, I'm always down for the deal ... so my thing is Papa John's and there $5.99 large pizza's on Monday and Tuesday.

Not that I know of.

Vol Jack had some pizza at Boston's when he came to Erie ... which is good .. but it's like the most expensive pizza joint you'll ever see. I think he said it was like $75 he spent or something.

It's right across the street from my old sprawling college campus ... The University of the Downs at Erie.

Ugh, I ate at bostons last week on my way home because it was attached to the marriott where I stayed the night. It was the single worst meal I have had in a very long time. And that's saying something since I live in kentucky

The Indomitable DrugS 07-01-2010 12:54 PM

It's probably a lot worse when you have to pay for it. I met my mom and stepdad there once and the food wasn't bad but I couldn't get it why it was so expensive other than the whole tourist trap since it was right next to the big waterpark.

You should have told me you were in town and staying there ... we could have done lazer tag and than hit up Splash Lagoon Waterpark.

paisjpq 07-01-2010 12:59 PM

I was there for about ten hours...most of it spent asleep. I will hit you up for laser tag on the next trip.

Speaking of food...
The x and I went to Augies in Ballston Spa this past Wednesday... We had the Kitchen Sink, it was pretty good... Then because I liked the price I got a family style Chicken Parm to go, still working on it! Anyone going to Saratoga should try it.

I just finished the family style chicken parm, it took 3 days, but I did it.

DrugS the gourmand.

I feel like singing that Adam Sandler song from the Wedding Singer, after he was left at the altar.

Oh somebody kill me please,
somebody kill me plee-ase,
I'm on my knees,
pretty pretty please kill me.

I want to die.
Put a bullet in my head.

What about places to stay........ like hotels / motels

The Indomitable DrugS 07-04-2010 11:48 AM

My mom and stepdad are slumlords over on W 26th by Luchetti's.

Other than that - I'm the wrong guy to ask about hotels and motels.

Now, strip clubs and massage parlors ... I'm your guy.

I met Spyder and his friend in the clubhouse bar at PID tonight. Pretty cool dude. Don't get me wrong, I was a little worried when he told me to look for a guy in a "loud green shirt" at the bar area.

Had a fun chat with him - albeit it did include him redboarding a 20/1 winner of the Miss Universe pagent he cashed on in a British bookmaking shop.

Of course, the highlight of my night, was going to that place and not having to pay for dinner for about the 89th time this year.

I successfully scrounged half of trainer Glenn Wismer's sandwhich and eat what was left of his partially eaten baked potato.

Basically, heisting the remains of his dinner plate from him after reminding him that he should watch his weight more careful if he's going to be getting on horses every morning.

And in SERIOUS breeding news ... the mighty synthetic stallion Cozar has been moved from Kentucky and is currently in the state of Pennsylvania.

That place rocks - one serving of chicken parm will feed you for the week - The broccoli rabe is not bad either, but it def won't last in the fridge

Marjorie Wallace and she was 25/1. Tell me she's not worth a sock:

I don't know man ... chicks have started to look hotter since tattoos, treadmills, piercings, boob jobs, and muff razors have all caught on.

For fans of the old school look....be careful if you're at work there's nudity...
