Trivia

This one is very tough.

Name the following two horses and the trainer they shared.

Both horses started their careers in extremely impressive fashion and had they only been retired after their 5th race .. they both might still be talked about as possible super horses.

Danzig 06-29-2010 10:01 PM

no more flowers?

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 10:04 PM

Nope. This one is kind of tough. This horse was eased a couple of times in races after this and had lots of feet problems.

KirisClown 06-29-2010 10:06 PM

D J Cat

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 10:10 PM

Correct.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 10:22 PM

First 7 races for this excellent 3yo ...

Name him.

KirisClown 06-29-2010 10:23 PM

Free House

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 10:23 PM

Correct.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 10:32 PM

His 100/1 upset was the first of 8 Graded Stakes he won in his career.

Solid, honest, tough type of horse you don't see around much anymore. Name him.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 10:42 PM

yeah - I guess I gave it away than with the 8 time GSW comment.

Here was the good version of FMN:

Funny how a horse wins his first Graded Stakes try at 100/1 - has the lead turning for home in the FLA Derby at 68/1 ... and when he's finally on top of his game and entered in a small ungraded stakes race ... his equipment breaks as the 1/2 favorite.

You're a little late with that one CJ1985.

Excuse the obvious low blow.

Name the soundly beaten 4th place finisher who exited DJ Cat's Swale win to take a share of the Gotham next out when dead heating with Lure.

cmorioles 06-29-2010 10:50 PM

Devil His Due, and I don't know what you are talking about.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 10:52 PM

Correct. And I don't know what I'm talking about either.

KirisClown 06-29-2010 10:57 PM

Who is the last, and probably only Godolphin owned horse that Ben Perkins Sr was listed as the race day trainer for?

Frisk Me Now in the Swale is the answer to another trivia question... why they have caps on horses in (most) contests.

I have no idea. Confide? Forest Wildcat? Conveyer? Meadow Monster?

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 11:11 PM

12 defeats in a row - including 8 as the post time favorite - after wearing a blanket of roses.

Name him.

Correct.

I was a fan of his. I would always swear to pops and gramps that he was going to get there the next time. Gramps bet him so many times that he started calling him "Strike The Sh!t"

It was a little earlier.. 1994, they purchased him after he won the Boojum over Birdonthewire, Harlan, Lite The Fuse etc..

He had won five in a row going into the Breeders Cup.. ended up being the fourth betting choice in the sprint..

Kind of ironic that his next win was the Pimlico Special given his effort in the Preakness the year before and the track's tendency to go against his one-run style.

Fly So Free running second made it an ultimate comeback race of sorts. Didn't last long though.

I had to look it up. I didn't even remember Meritocrat was a New Farm horse.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-29-2010 11:40 PM

Won the final 6 firm turf races of his career ...

Name him.

Yep. Was 7 lengths clear of 3rd place in the soggy Breeders Cup Mile.

I'm going to have to start posting forms of greyhounds to get something by you and Rollo.
