I'd be saddened if Zenyatta won HOTY. In the future, if there is another super filly or mare, they will look at Zenyatta's campaigns and think they could get HOTY by hiding 90% of the year and then showing up for one big race. Or maybe that is just the Mosses.
However light Quality Road's campaign may look, his races are open to any horse good enough, and that should be worth more than a race like the Vanity any day. |

Can we just take a second to discuss what the heck is up with Mine That Bird? It's like he's been eating his Wheaties all winter & spring. Haskin said he doesn't look like the same horse, and I was struck by his appearance along with those bullets he's throwing. I've always thought he was a nice little Rodney Dangerfield kinda horse that deserved more respect than he got post-KD. Who knows what he's gonna do this weekend. You'd think Quality Road has the momentum, but our two ladies are more than capable of looking the part of an HOY as they showed last year. |

Rachel is 1/3, losing to 2 horses who both came back to get beat. Right now Z is way way way ahead as far as Older Filly N Mare championship. |

At this moment the race for HOY is between Quality Road and Zenyatta. Zenyatta holds a slight lead over Quality Road according to this acrticle:
'Quality Road cuts into Zenyatta's lead' http://www.fresnobee.com/2010/06/28/...zenyattas.html I don't know who would win HOY if the award was handed out today - but I am 100% certain it would be one of these two. Rachel is making her comeback but she isn't where she needs to be yet. I hope she gets back into perfect form - she's amazing!!!! If I had a vote it would go to Zenyatta. Quality Road, from what I see and hear, is believed to be America's best race horse right now... |
If HOY was right now and Zenyatta won, I'd probably stop following racing.
Vote today - it would HAVE to be Quality Road. Eskendera (sp?) deserves it more than "Big Z" at this point in time. |

RA's just now getting herself in gear. She's perfectly capable of earning an Eclipse with sterling performances the rest of the year. There are prizes to be had in the fall that would make everybody go 'New Orleans Ladies what now?' |

With all the West Coast on Zenyatta's bandwagon and with her recent thriller "accomplishment" of 17 races in a row Blame winning more votes than Zenyyata is hard for me to believe. Blame does not earn more votes than Zenyatta if the award is handed out today... |

QR for Iron-horse-of-the-Year…
|
Quality Road 2010, 3 for 3.
Zenyatta, 2010, 3 for 3. As usual. |
Way, way too early to call, but Quality Road has a lead based on his performances in 2010.

I think if Quality Road wants it, he's going to get it. That being said, Zenyatta or Blame have an outside chance.
|
I just spoke with Quality Road not more than just a few minutes ago, and he indeed does want HOY, but he's concerned that since he hasn't shipped over the Rockies this year, he won't be eligible.
|
May try to get to Toga since something extremely rare (QR actually being loaded into a starting gate) is supposed to happen on 8/7.
Be kinda like flying "up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun" ... lol |
Oh the humanity!
|
So, you know, I'm just saying the obvious and all, but a quick guess as to how many career and season starts Zenyatta had made by June 30th of her four year old season?

My first impression of Smooth Operator was that he was just a cleverly sarcastic poster that stirs things up and doesn't ever own up to it. After his enduring persistence of being a complete idiot, I thought, well, maybe he really is the biggest idiot on DT. Now I'm starting to lean back the other way, because he really can't be as stupid as he appears to be. It takes true genius to pull off what he has. I may change my mind yet again however. |
