Ahhhhh she did it!!!!

17 in a row for Zenyatta and I managed not to have a heart attack.

Arletta 06-13-2010 06:49 PM

OMG!!! I almost did!!! I was'nt sure she would get there!!! Whoo whoo!!!

geeker2 06-13-2010 06:50 PM

WOW

MISTERGEE 06-13-2010 06:51 PM

awesome performance, almost went wide enough to lose it

ateamstupid 06-13-2010 06:51 PM

That was exciting as hell. St Trinians has a weird stride.

trackrat59 06-13-2010 06:51 PM

Can someone please tell Mike Smith not to make it so close next time. I nearly passed out.

:zz:

I now have a headache from the stress. Thanks alot, Mike. ;)

I swear I was having palpitations. I actually shrieked "no!!" a little too loudly when I thought she was about to lose. I'm sure my neighbor enjoyed that.

Scav 06-13-2010 06:53 PM

They should just run her until she is like 12.

Garcia rode a great race, I wasn't sure I would ever say that.

DRF had an article up a while back, shes crooked as hell according to Mitchell. When they got her, they were not even sure she could run anymore.

slotdirt 06-13-2010 06:54 PM

I think I'm finally understanding the folks who like Zenyatta. She certainly gives you a charge every time she runs. Has this horse ever won an easy race?

Coach Pants 06-13-2010 06:54 PM

yay.

tiggerv 06-13-2010 06:55 PM

Fantastic race

I think her biggest detractors, her biggest worshipers, and everybody in between can all agree on that.
That was fun.

Sure Vic wanted Zen extra special in that last panel.

Her 2 BC wins were pretty easy, IMO

brockguy 06-13-2010 06:56 PM

ridiculously wide the final turn - well done it was great to watch..

Scav 06-13-2010 06:56 PM

I love having a DVR.

knickslions2 06-13-2010 06:56 PM

Awesome!!!! Love that horse!!

Travis Stone 06-13-2010 06:56 PM

Great athletes make things happen... Michael Jordan with buzzer beaters, Tiger Woods with big putts etc. This was another example... giving weight, going wide, giving St. Trinians a head start - everything - yet she still got it done. Pretty cool.

Uh no. Great athletes face the best on a consistent basis.

You would too if you had as many needles stuck in you that have been stuck in her

I know what you're saying, and if this was like every other sport, yeah... but Rocco Mediate is a good not great golfer, and he had Tiger on the ropes, yet Tiger won. Same thing today.

yeah. The breeders cup classic.

slotdirt 06-13-2010 06:59 PM

I think I may have jinxed St. Trinians with my premature shout of glee at thinking Zenyatta was finally going to lose. A second later, the outcome seemed never in doubt.

No doubt Smith had to ride her a heck of a lot harder today than he had to in any of her previous several starts.

Just take a break for a few hours and let reality set in.

He rode a great race. Had 9 lbs. Came out to force her wide coming into the stretch. Came out again mid-stretch. I'm gunna says this again. If you want to beat the best, then the horse can't be twirling the left front like that (it matters going 9-10f.)

Not really unless the US Open = Vanity

gio Ponti is more of a Rocco type

randallscott35 06-13-2010 07:01 PM

Smith's dream horse. No need to worry about going 9 wide in a six horse field.

Oh I know... the pace was solid, the race setup, St. Trinian puts the race away, and laid down in the final few strides, but none-the-less Zenyatta was beat at the 16th pole, but dug-in.

slotdirt 06-13-2010 07:03 PM

Counted 10 cracks of the whip by Smith, for whatever that is worth (probably absolutely nothing).

South Beach Luv 06-13-2010 07:03 PM

I'm sure Mike Smith loved that comparison to him being Jay Z and Zenyatta Beyonce, wtf was that guy thinking

Looked like she didn't put her head down and really start running until he cracked her a few times.
