Gotta strike while the iron is hot.

Travis Stone 05-12-2010 10:12 PM

I actually think this is a good morning line. The always overbet Lookin at Lucky will get all the bad trip wagers, the jock change wagers, the beat the favorite with the Derby favorite wagers etc. Super Saver could dip lower... probably closer to 2-1... maybe a hair under, but that would make a 5-2 morning line fairly well done.

No, to truly sum up Hank's report:

"Uh...umm...uh...(shuffle papers)...dah..."

robfla 05-13-2010 08:52 AM

looks like Super Saver should have a nice garden trip with the lack of real pace in the race.

This race may just result in a similar finish order of the Derby - with Paddy and Lucky filling out the tri / super.

85% of my tickets ( P3+P4 ) will have Super Saver on top, will protect with Paddy

it's a difference of three minutes...how does the race time affect the horses anyway?

Alan07 05-13-2010 03:58 PM

Mike Battaglia's Picks:
8 Super Saver
7 Lookin at Lucky
11 First Dude

Danzig 05-13-2010 04:06 PM

i think i'd put a few on yawanna twist, especially at 30-1...besides, i think it's wide open.

If I can get 16-1 or higher I'm taking a shot with Jackson Bend. Zito's revenge.

That's right I want about $35 or more.

I was thinking along those same lines. I've always liked him, but need a price this time.

Also like First Dude in here. No less than the 20-1 ML, though.

Both will be in my plays.

CSC 05-14-2010 07:35 AM

If Pletcher's horses show life today and on tommorow's undercard, I am going to fire a bomb and bet get this Aikenite to win tommorow. At 20-1, I am willing to fire some money his way on the opinion that this derby was not as strong as the 104 beyer it was awarded.

philcski 05-14-2010 01:27 PM

huh.. if Paddy is really 14-1 tomorrow maybe I will bet... Looking at Sucky is terrible at 3-1

otisotisotis 05-14-2010 02:22 PM

Not much wagering interest for me here. Maybe just take Dublin thinking GoGo would like to stick it to 'that white haired guy'. (that's how my wife knows him, lol )

I think people are making too much out of the Gomez-off revenge thing. He's ridden for Baffert hundreds of times, and I assume he'll ride for him plenty in the future, too. It's just that they're going in another direction with LAL.

Not a very good direction, but another direction.:)

And last time I checked, Dublin didn't care about the white haired guy. He's still a hanger who won't win.

Clip-Clop 05-14-2010 05:16 PM

Has Satish handed out tomorrows Tri yet?

I've already lost money on Aikenite this year.

I'm a sucker for those Dogwood Stables runners.

I think Aikenite is a plodder tomorrow though.

CSC 05-15-2010 09:17 AM

Jackson Bend holds the key to the race, with Smith aboard he should set the pace. If not Super Saver has the big ad here.

Thunder Gulch 05-15-2010 09:52 AM

I like Jackson for a piece, but I just don't think he will hold on in that last furlong. He will control the pace inside though, and it doesn't look as if there is going to be a lot of pressure. Aikenite is another that I'm interested in.
