Did you expect anything else? Mediocre field and a pudding track.

ateamstupid 05-01-2010 05:55 PM

Sad that Willie couldn't get the money. Noble's Promise ran better than the fifth best race. Stating the obvious, but these are bad horses.

That was a great run.

I couldn't believe how suddenly horses were stopping at the top of the stretch.

It was like Conveyance and Sidney's Candy were suddenly running in quicksand.

Danzig 05-01-2010 05:58 PM

backtalk 70 lengths out of it...wonder if he'll go on to pimlico.

Gauchos0522 05-01-2010 05:59 PM

I have no idea what they are going to do regarding variant but I can't imagine the number would be much higher than a 96 or 97 maybe even less.

oh, it was for him alright!

i'm sticking with ice box in two weeks, assuming he goes.

pointman 05-01-2010 06:02 PM

SS got a great trip. Ice Box was best with a very tough trip today

The track played fast all day really so unless these last couple races go slow they can't really cut the race loose from the rest of the card. Would be suprised if they gave him anything above a 97.

Moved too soon in the Dixiana.
Moved too soon in the BC.
(Probably) Moved too soon in the Rebel.

And, moved too soon today.

MCPEEK is just a clown.

As for Willie --- 3 of these are his. The only 'sad' thing is his riding.

I am being serious here, no sarcasim at all. How did the 3 run a good race? Other then making the lead a bit early he was just totally empty. When did the 4 run away from him? The 3 simply could not get the distance, he is a miler at best IMO. Im not seeing it, he strikes the top well in hand and Borel just rolls right by him.... And now Borel just announced that hes winning the Triple Crown HAHAHA

Seriously? He was the only one remotely near the pace who didn't finish up the track. He was 3-4 lengths off a fracturing pace, made the lead and faded a bit in the last furlong. He ran a hell of a lot better than Ice Box did with the parasitic second.

As much as I'd like to see Willie do well I couldn't agree more. He simply has moved too soon with this horse almost every race.

What, that they fudge #'s?

moses 05-01-2010 06:12 PM

It's a shame Talamo used up Sidney's Candy to get to the front early. That horse had no chance after that.

Danzig 05-01-2010 06:12 PM

he's a front runner. it's what the horse does.

I suppose so. Maybe the horse had no chance simply after drawing the 20 spot.

SC looked freaked out before the race and ran like it. He'll bounce back.

I cant remeber any Candy Ride's that got better as they got older, do real good young and flat line, which is not bad. I still like Lookin at Lucky:eek:

Parasitic? If that was a trip for a horse who capitalized on circumstance then I'd hate to see what would have to happen to a horse for you to think he encountered trouble.

He may have had traffic trouble, but the race still fell apart into his hands. Everyone in front of him was gasping for air in the stretch.

He may win the Preakness (I hope he does), but there's no way in hell he's getting 12 furlongs.

He's out of an A.P. Indy mare...why not, Oey?

no, that they are alright to look at. but counting on them the next race out is a joke. especially with all the different tracks and surfaces.

Well, isn't a beyer in the high 90s or low 100s about what you expected going in? That's what these guys have been running all year.

The reason you can't remember any is because his oldest foals have just turned 4! And Misremembered has already done better at 4 than at 3.

His past performances take precedence over his breeding IMO. He hung badly in the AR Derby and got his last quarter yesterday in about :26.55.

In fairness to SS though, he really wasn't that far off a suicidal pace.

The pace Conveyance set over that surface was crazy. That was one of the better 40+ length loss performances I've seen in awhile.

This is why I said Noble's Promise ran well, and our resident genius handicapper disagreed.

Yeah, I like NP. He's a pretty gutty horse. Why the love for Jackson Bend and not NP is a bit of a mystery.

Which genius capper are you referring to? There are many to choose from.

I'd love to see Super Saver's splits if anybody already has them. I'm too lazy right now.

Thanks. I'm guessing it will be tough to win the Preakness with that same run.
