Nicely bred 2 year old Smarty Jones fillies available: 5% shares
Chuck currently has (5) Smarty Jones fillies that have 40% (8 shares) available for purchase. Details on the five horses are available below. 5% shares are available for $1,250 each or 5 shares for $5,000. You can either have a piece of all five fillies or pick and choose based on looks and pedigree. All five are under tack and training, three (Lady Thief, Angry Dragon, Slumber Smarty) have already worked 2 furlongs at Arlington Park and are working another 2 furlongs on Wednesday. Red Baroness and Hemisseu will be up at Arlington Park by the end of April/Early May. Chuck feels that all five have the opportunity to be ready this summer.
For examples of ownership, DTer ‘PSH’ is currently a 10% partner in all five fillies. You can also do it like DTer ‘Onebadbeast’, aka Joe the Dude, and buy 5% of one (Angry Dragon). Total bills on one 5% share should be approx $150-$200 per month. This is a great way to educate yourself on horse ownership and have a piece of the action on any or all of the 5 nicely bred horses, while not taking on the total risk of full ownership. Lady Thief: Smarty Jones x War Thief (Lord at War mare), Half to G3 winner Boss Lafitte, out of G3 winning mare. Slumber Smarty: Smarty Jones x Dream Child (Giants Causeway mare), Mare related to sires Tomorrows Cat and Teton Forest Angry Dragon: Smarty Jones x Screamer (Roanake mare), Half sister to multiple G3 winner El Roblar, G2 winning mare Hemissesu: Smarty Jones x Wheatly Way (Wheatly Hall mare), Mare has produced multiple winners, including G1 winner Bevo and G3 winner Moonlight Sonata Red Baroness: Smarty Jones x Must be a Lady (Lord at War mare), Mare is full sister to one G3 winner and a graded stakes placed colt, produced two racing age winners. Any questions please PM Chuck (Cannon Shell) or myself. |

The costs have been figured from two years of numbers from being in business with Chuck. We have decided that a partner can choose to pay a fixed monthly invoice of $180 per 5% share if they so choose. This will help cut down on the partner writing multiple checks for low sums per month. This number was figured off of the average cost of $3600 per month for one horse. They can also elect to be invoiced from our vendors if they so choose. The only thing the $180 monthly invoice will not cover is -- Nominations over $1,000 -- Surgeries -- Any plane flights (which would only happen for a graded stakes race) We are very excited in the interest these girls have attracted and looking forward to a successful summer/fall of racing them. Any questions at all please don't hesitate to PM me or post on this thread. |

Hi Tom, thanks for the information I inquired about recently. I have other questions I wanted to ask.
If a horse is taken out of training for say 3 months what are the costs of keeping the horse on the farm compared to keeping her under training ? Also I was wondering if the horse doesn't pan out as expected as a racehorse and has some value as a broodmare what are the costs of owning her for breeding. Thank you. |
