This goes to something that was discussed on ATR last week. The super trainer is pushing people out of the game(I realize DWL might not qualify in terms of numbers anymore but he used to). I like small stables, but the genie isn't going back in the bottle.

Chip Woolley and D. Wayne are just about equally competent.

Yes. Winning the Derby, 2nd in Preak, 3rd in Belmont was only 1 of those trainers.

Then again, its kind of hard to win those races at 2. I guess winning a juvenile championship in Canada was the last straw for the owners with the previous trainer.

Chip Woolley did a great job with Mine That Bird through the Triple Crown last year. His horse won the Derby, lost the Preakness only because he ran into an exceptional filly, and had his chances in the Belmont compromised by a lousy ride from an overconfident jock. He doesn't deserve getting knocked.

He was owned by his previous trainer,who then sold them to the New Mexico connections.

Thanks. Didn't realize that. Makes sense why he never set foot in Canada again. Wonder if he'll show up for races like the Dominion Day this year.

He wouldn't have won the Derby if Chip didn't change his running style.

Didn't he have like one race with Mandella or some other West Coast trainer?

He was with Mandella for the BC Juvenile in 2008.

You can't argue with DWL's recent success with older horses though.

MTB is 8/5 in the cannonshell.com future book to never win another race....regardless of who trains him.

I guess the owners have higher aspirations for MTB than Ruidoso / Zia park

DWL is in KY and will have a nice string at Saratoga - makes complete sense to move him

Yeah that ship from NM to Churchill really worked poorly last year.

They can't find any crippled cowboys to drive him over this time.

Not a sure thing but I'd pick him over Naughty New Yorker.

What a shame for MTB and for Chip...Hopefully DWL will know when to stop on the horse...

I'm not sure, but I thought that had more to do with Borel than Chip "dating game" Woolley.
