I gave some thought to going after this, but ended up passing.
Good thing too, because the winner of the third was tough to come up with other than by pressing the all button.

ArlJim78 04-03-2010 03:56 PM

it carrys over again. $224,000

philcski 04-03-2010 08:49 PM

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it carries until closing day. The more money in there, the harder it will be for just 1 person to take down the pool- today with 3 horses paying $19 or more it still was hit by 5 tickets.

I agree, when do they close?

joeydb 04-04-2010 01:06 PM

I've been looking at the rules, and it says that a single, 25 cent ticket has to win to bring down the whole thing. My ADW only let's me play in $2 units. Am I hopeless locked out of hitting the jackpot, since I assume they are booking 8 bets for 25 cents for each $2 I am wagering?

Derby Day

joeydb 04-05-2010 12:50 PM

Just to update everybody, I could not book the bet in any amount, even up to $2. Philly Park Phonebet has it online, but wouldn't accept my wager. When I called the people on the phone, they said there is not a Pick-6 in the 3rd @ Beulah.

So I have picks but no bet. Can't wait to watch it come out.

NTamm1215 04-05-2010 03:10 PM

Looks like if the 4 wins the 8th race the thing gets hit. Everyone else carries.

AeWingnut 04-05-2010 04:49 PM

scratches are all refunded

joeydb 04-06-2010 07:32 AM

So which services actually let you place a 25 cent wager on the Beulah Pick-6?

Youbet? Twinspires?

tigerfan 04-06-2010 07:47 AM

I know that Xpressbet offers it.

herkhorse 04-06-2010 07:56 AM

twinspires has it too

jms62 04-06-2010 11:30 AM

It sounds like a lot of fun. NJBets unfortunately does not have this bet.

ARyan 04-06-2010 11:40 AM

Youbet has it.

I am taking a look for today.

$248,250.00 c/o

joeydb 04-06-2010 12:12 PM

I would have hit that thing yesterday, though obviously not alone.

Is there a conso payoff for 6 out of 6 when multiple folks hit it? Also is there a 5/6 payoff?

joeydb 04-06-2010 12:45 PM

Yeah, yesterday's was a 6 out of 6 conso, because more than one hit. It's 40% of the daily Pick 6 handle (not the carryover) divided among the winners. It was $1960.40 yesterday...still good for a quarter bet!

knickslions2 04-06-2010 01:29 PM

My picks today Race 3-8

5
5
3
4
3
2

Kasept 04-12-2010 04:09 PM

My old stomping grounds should close out live racing on Derby Day.

joeydb 04-13-2010 06:49 AM

So I guess that if it does carry to closing day, it's then treated as a normal Pick-6 (proportional payout depending on the number of correct tickets?)

Here's my other question: Is anything different when it's impossible for there to be one unique ticket? You know, when every betting interest in the last race has at least 2 tickets including it that are still live?

Kasept 04-13-2010 05:14 PM

$403,341

Beulah carryover hits $403K
By John McDulin

GROVE CITY, Ohio - The Fortune Six, the Beulah Park exotic that pays its jackpot only when there is a single winner, has reached an all-time high carryover of $403,341 going into Wednesday's card.

The 25-cent base bet has drawn a lot of attention as of late, with more than $88,000 and $86,000 bet in the last two days on the wager. Wednesday will provide the last day that the entire jackpot can be hit by only one patron. Beulah Park's management has decided to shelve the wager until Beulah races on its own again, rather than in a seven-and-sever format with River Downs. That will be closing day on May 1, Kentucky Derby Day.

"We just didn't feel it would be fair to the people that have been following it to have to bet on another track's races," said Mike Weiss, vice president of Beulah Park.

The Fortune Six provided the highest payout for a wager less than a dollar in the United States on Jan. 30, 2007, when it paid out $364,589 for a 25-cent ticket. If the wager is not hit by a single ticket Wednesday, there will be a mandatory payout on closing day.

The Fortune Six is basically a pick six that covering races 3 through 8. The full jackpot is paid out only if one person has the winning ticket. If there are multiple winners, 40 percent of the pool is divided among them with 60 percent retained for the jackpot.

I laughed. Like there's a big difference between say, a great track like Beulah and a dump like River Downs.

Kasept 04-14-2010 06:47 AM

This came up on ATR last night when a caller asked why Beulah was going to table the play until Derby Day (Closing Day). I figured they were getting close to that kooky integrated '6 races at each track' portion of the season with River opening Friday.

herkhorse 04-14-2010 06:53 AM

It will be interesting to see what it finally pays. I wish they ended it on a Tuesday though, who wants to pay attention to Beulah on Derby day?

That's why God invented equibase mobile. I will be at a Derby party watching the Run for the Roses and will have Beulah's results page up on my phone.

MISTERGEE 04-14-2010 10:54 AM

$2500 claimers at Beu and the derby, nothin better together in the whole world

deltagulf 04-14-2010 12:41 PM

for that money who cares.
its worth a play

tanner12oz 04-17-2010 11:35 AM

how much money is worth being thrown at this on the final day?

in the past ive noticed quirky stuff like forced payouts seem to pay good...im not sure how much competition theres gonna be with the derby going on...if you play a $500 BEU ticket that money is gonna be tied up through the derby....

when the card gets announced lets make a thread to try to take this thing down by someone on the board
