You'll find out who at the 1/8th pole when Durkin goes "She is indeed ... the super filly!"

Between Arnulfo Ascencio talking Nicky Boy up a couple of weeks ago and Sunday's preview show plugging her, 'DrugS Handicapping Hour of Power' listeners should be pretty happy when they race to the windows to cash their win tickets on Saturday.

The Indomitable DrugS 03-29-2010 04:49 PM

She scratched from both Sunland Derby day and LA Derby day undercard races.

OIC

ummm

:zz:

what?

The Indomitable DrugS 03-29-2010 04:54 PM

She's live on The Fat Charts.

She enters the Wood off of back to back reverse wipeout performances.

MaTH716 03-29-2010 04:54 PM

Wow, she was 42 lengths worse once she left the Mullins barn. He really is a magician  .

The Indomitable DrugS 03-29-2010 04:58 PM

The guy who won the promotional briefcase at FG and got to bet 10K on a horse of his choice (Hotep) would love her in this spot.

northeastbound123 03-29-2010 05:48 PM

horse was a vet scratch at sunland last night race #13

I think you are looking at the Fat Charts backwards/upside down again.

If the do-gooders at NYRA find a way to deny her entry in the Wood ... my whole weekend will be ruined.

I'll go out on a limb and say......your weekend will be ruined.

Sorry dude. :D

Would you feel better if NYRA accepted her to give horsey rides around the parking lot?

The Indomitable DrugS 03-29-2010 06:16 PM

To be honest ... if the connections put up the money to ship and enter they deserve the chance to run.

I don't care how hopeless the horse is. But yeah, she has more business giving horsey rides in the parking lot than running in the Wood.

Forget about the Lasix, where's the guy with the vodka now? She could probably use a whole bottle of Kettle One.

Dont upset Steve, make it his buddy Lee Einsiedler's Grey Goose.

tector 03-30-2010 10:52 AM

I'd like to see her up against Rick's Natural Star and Tincin--assuming they were not canned.

cakes44 03-30-2010 01:15 PM

I'd like to see what she could do with some new shoes from Wolfson.

santana 03-30-2010 01:31 PM

Drugs
Wasnt Robert Perez that used to enter some slugs into the TC Races in the 1980s or so....I think one was Cupicoys Joy...This guy makes him look like a real trainer...

Linny 03-30-2010 02:13 PM

When I saw this thread I thought it was someone trying to rile up BTW.

What a joke.

Yeah but didn't he get a third place finish one year?

Cupecoy's Joy was a serious filly, but he did enter some goats in the TC.

It wasn't confined solely to the TC races.. take a look at Jed Forest among many others..

"Every time I enter a horse, they think we're crazy, we're stupid, we don't know what we're doing," said the Argentina-born Perez from his box seat yesterday before the race. "I enjoy that."

Sightseek 03-30-2010 02:51 PM

A maiden supplemented to the Illinois Derby too.

Seeing Perez mentioned made me think of Senor Speedy. Probably his best horse and amongst all his insane entries this horse actually accomplished quite a bit and also won almost $900k

RolloTomasi 03-30-2010 06:30 PM

Other Perez notables:

Ulises, another Panamanian wonder horse who ran in the classics. Might have hit the board in the Dwyer or Jim Dandy.

Malthus, who placed in the Jim Dandy and Travers.

Secreto De Estado, who ran in the Travers, possibly the classics.

Caponostro, speed horse that started in the Champagne and possibly the BC Juvenile.

Agincourt, trained by Nick Zito, won the Futurity, got dusted by Arazi in the BC, possibly made it to the Derby or Belmont.

Mil Kilates, an older mare.

I think he bought some culls from Allen Paulson as well. I remember him having some Strawberry Road filly that was well meant at one point.

Don't forget Forested, she beat Serena's Song home in the 95 BC Distaff..

Pana Brass, Teletable, Prince Heaven, Warn Me and Astudillo also deserve some mention..

You have to be something pretty special to be hopelessly behind a :51 opening half mile.

You must have forgotten the G1 winner and G1 nutball Cupecoy's
Joy--who lead the boys in the KY Derby for about a mile before she faded ...

Whoever mentioned this earlier was correct ...

Nicky Boy a "Gift to New York Racing"?

Quote:

A dejected Chadda said on Wednesday that she would try to enter Nicky Boy in the $1-million Arkansas Derby (G1) on April 10 at Oaklawn Park as a final effort to qualify for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) on May 1 at Churchill Downs, but she is disappointed that she could not run the three-year-old Anziyan Royalty filly at Aqueduct as a gift to New York racing.
http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/rac...sas-Derby.aspx

Quote:

Nicky Boy began her career in the barn of Jeff Mullins, but Chadda said she transferred her filly to Arnulfo Ascencio because Mullins would not enter Nicky Boy in a stakes race and because she thought Mullins would have a hard time racing in New York. Mullins served a seven-day suspension last year for violating detention barn rules on Wood Memorial day.

“We started with Mullins, but he is a bad apple in the industry,” Chadda said. “Mullins did not want to come to New York, but New York opened its arms to us, and I want to reward them with the gift of Nicky [Boy].”

letswastemoney 03-31-2010 05:59 PM

With all that money she's wasting on entry fees, she could get a cheap horse from a claiming race that would run faster than Nicky Boy

The Indomitable DrugS 03-31-2010 06:01 PM

Refusing the entry of a horse because it is hopelessly too slow is a total load of crap.

Last I checked - it wasn't called the Wood Memorial Invitational.

Very cheap first-time-starter Olympic Chief for Janet Davidson was 50.30-to-1 against Curlin in the Arkansas Derby .. after opening up at about 20/1.

Rick's Natural Star was 56-to-1 after a year plus layoff in the Breeders Cup Turf after running dead last in 3 consecutive 2,500 claiming races at Ruidoso Downs.

This horse would have been under 100/1.

Still better when they allowed the rabbit in the Breeders Cup to be uncoupled.
