Tiznow and Lava Man

its wrong to compare the two. Tiznow was in another stratosphere than Lava Man. To compare that they are equals is ridiculous.

LAVA MAN'S DEFEATED FOES

MAGNUM, SUPER FROLIC, PERFECT DRIFT, GOOD REWARD,PREACHINATTHEBAR, ACE BLUE, GIACOMO

TIZNOW'S DEFEATED FOES

GIANTS CAUSEWAY, SAKHEE,BIENAMADO,FU PEG, LEMON DROP KID, CAPTAIN STEVE, ALBERT THE GREAT ,SKIMMING, GENERAL CHALLENGE, GOLDEN MISSILE, APTITUDE, GALILLEO, WOODEN PHONE, CAT THIEF, MACHO UNO, ORIENTATE, BLACK MINNALOUSHE.

PLUS IT WAS DONE AT CHURCHILL AND BELMONT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seattleallstar 08-21-2006 10:03 AM

even won in Louisiana

Seattleallstar 08-21-2006 10:05 AM

Dude, chill out.

Tiznow was a marvelous horse who took on all comers and had not only tremenous talent but the heart of a lion. ANyone who didn't love Tiznow should turn in their racing fan badge. He beat em all, and he knocked heads with the best around. I'm sorry but comparing a horse who beat Giants Causeway to one who beats Good reward and Ace Blue is an absolute travesty.

irishtrekker 08-21-2006 10:10 AM

People are entitled to their own opinions. I don't think they're in the same league, but I don't think there are very many posters making the comparison anyway.

LM swept the big three Cali races this year. He's the first to do so. He's won on dirt and turf, he's won a hell of a lot more races than certain other older horses this year...I'd rather see him run more often and win in Cali than see our HOY be a "champion" who runs all of two or three times.

Why can't we all just agree that it will be fun to see Bernardini, Invasor, LM and a few others hook up at the Breeder's Cup? Regardless of the outcome, it's something to look forward to...

Seattleallstar 08-21-2006 10:17 AM

But there are some, what happened in Japan and in NY??

I didnt love Tiznow... if the Euros won those two classics in a row, US racing would never be the same again....

BellamyRd. 08-21-2006 10:26 AM

I'm still waiting on these proposed European insights to befall on us:rolleyes:

slotdirt 08-21-2006 10:26 AM

Just wondering, but didn't Tiznow beat half those horses in the Classic? If Lava Man were to approach Tiznow's level, I'd withhold judgment until after the Classic, no? It's not like Tiznow was beating Giant's Causeway and the like in the Pacific Classic?

Thank you Slot. I appreciate reading a logical post regarding this horse.

Seattleallstar 08-21-2006 10:28 AM

Bellamy my words fall on deaf ears

TitanSooner 08-21-2006 10:34 AM

who has Invasor beaten??

Noble Causeway, Tap Day, Rathor, Wilko, Andromeda's Hero, Wild Desert, Sun King, Premium Tap, West Virginia, Harlington??

all definite world beaters huh???

but you know what, It doesn't matter because he beats what's thrown out there at him and that's ALL he can do. For that I give him tremendous respect but I don't think he's absolutely better than LM...

Just have to wait and see.. Whoever wins was better PERIOD

Seattleallstar 08-21-2006 10:35 AM

a much better group that Lava Man has defeated thats for damn sure.

Al this from people who were awarding the gutless Flower Alley horse of the year because he ran second to Saint Liam, a horse dusted in California by a pole!!!

Tiznow is one of my favorite horses of all time, I love the horse and his huge heart, he simply refused to lose in the "big one"! Having said that, Lava Man is having a better year AT THIS POINT than Tiznow ever did...in order to be mentioned in the same breath as one of the greats he would have to win two BCC's...plain and simple, but he may have that opportunity and it's wrong to make fun of the comparison just yet. Lets wait until his career is over! If one says, Lava Man compares to Tiznow at this stage of their careers (yes, I know Tiznow was younger but LM is a gelding, LM hasn't run in a BCC yet)...it is a valid comparison...if you say Lava Man is as great as Tiznow, it's a joke!

Seattleallstar 08-21-2006 11:35 AM

Noble Causeway, Tap Day, Rathor, Wilko, Andromeda's Hero, Wild Desert, Sun King, Premium Tap, West Virginia, Harlington??

HMM YOU HAVE TWO GRADE 1 WINNERS, PA derby wiinner, a breeders cup champion, Classic placed horses, multiple stakes winners at various tracks.

cakes44 08-21-2006 11:36 AM

You can add King's Drama and Borrego to Lava Man's list. Two horses who won Grade 1s in the East.

Like those are current Grade I horses? Wilko...BC Champion...like two years ago. LOL. At least Lava Man did beat a current Grade I winners in Seek Gold and King's Drama. You people are being ridiculous about this. Give it up. Lava Man stacks up to the East Coast horses just fine...and I'm an East Coast person.

Three best horses in the nation are Lava Man, Bernardini, and Invasor. Period. No one else stacks up to them right now.

Seattleallstar 08-21-2006 12:01 PM

Not only that but CAME back on either him or Sakhee, can't remember which one he did that in but he was passed and came back in one of those BC Classics

Danzig 08-21-2006 05:04 PM

tiz's second was over sakhee, if memory serves, and that year he was having some physical problems, including a troublesome back. wasn't able to really string much together that year, but he showed in his second bcc what he was made of!! tremendous heart in that horse.

packerbacker7964 08-21-2006 05:47 PM

Awhhhhh Frankie quit hitting the damn horse and just ride.

Why? We love a Champion no matter where they come from. Well maybe not from Iran.

brockguy 08-21-2006 07:23 PM

I loved Giants Causeway and he would have been an absolute legend if he won that day. He was a sensational horse that took alot of racing (and managed to beat older horses in March of his 3yo year) Tiznow was not to be passed that day though Kinane regretted dropping his irons before the line. Probably made little difference.

Sakhee would have been too. I admire Tiznow and his connections for the tremendous job they did to get him to win back to back titles esp after the injuries he had, but it doesnt mean I like him.

Danzig 08-21-2006 07:24 PM

i would have been just as thrilled had giants causeway won that year, he was an amazing racehorse!
