2nd off a long layoff. Maybe get some more bottom into him for a bigger race next out?

Gaining Ground 03-10-2010 03:22 PM

he has some turf in his pedigree. it might be a test to see if he can run on turf. hes not really missing any big dirt stakes right now. so if he doesnt handle the grass they can go back to dirt after. but if he does run well it opens up more opportunities for him down the road.

If the "point" is unclear....isn't that a little interesting?

Man I guess so, but even if you buy the turf argument, hes a router, right?

Gaining Ground 03-10-2010 03:33 PM

hes 4 for 4 sprinting

I hope he wins.

He won't win, his jockey sucks and is 1 for 38 in BC/TC races.

Love,

Gales

No kidding. He just made the comment about him being a router. I was making the comment that he was 4 for 4 at 7 furlongs and less. Is 7 furlongs not considered a sprint anymore?

the_fat_man 03-10-2010 03:56 PM

Hard to like him. All out last time against nothing; and now cutting back 2F --and on that turf course -- which should **** up his footwork nicely.

Nice job of plotting out a path for this horse. Too bad the connections didn't complete the IDIOT TROIKA by keeping the Great Collapser up.

My main man agrees with me, ALL I NEED.

Bigsmc 03-10-2010 05:30 PM

It's the juice race of the meet.

They have run it 5 times. Kirk Zaidie won the first, finish 2nd in the second running and Ness/Centeno have won the last three.

The connections have made no bones about it, their ultimate goal with Musket Man is the Met Mile.

It remains to be seen if this curious spot will be the right move.

They are running for second in the met, does anyone disagree?

This is a first...But I totally agree with you.
I thought his main spring/summer goal was the Met Mile.
How does this help him prep for the Met Mile.
I thought the Gulfstream Park handicap was a perfect fit for him.

Are you kidding me? I dont care who shows up... If QR goes there its cause hes sound and healthy and in that case MM has no chance to win.

surely you know something more than the connections , especially derrick ryan :D :D :D

With the forecast for tons of rain the next few days maybe they entered thinking that it might come off?

That's right. You have a horse coming off of an extended layoff and Ryan was really looking to get him a race where he could, basically, get gutted running. 'Cause, he didn't have anything planned in the future for this horse. So, he puts the Great Collapser on the horse, who gives him a WIDE trip, wider than anything in the race, then, at the point where he cruises to the lead, the idiot on the runner up, who had sat a perfect trip to that point, decides to gun and go after MM. The Great Collapser then is stuck in no man's land and has no choice but to beat on MM to wire, just barely holding off a horse that's staggering in the lane like a ****in drunk (this is the runner up) and trying to lay all over MM. So, all in all it was probably the perfect prep for Ryan. He gets his horse beaten to death and forced to go all out in a field he's supposed to lay over.

Not saying he can't win the 5F turf sprint. I haven't looked at who's in the race but he figures to get a RIDICULOUSLY BETTER trip with Dominguez up than he got with the Great Collapser, and if there's any kind of speed in the race, a well timed move by Dominguez gets him there. (Assuming Ryan has a clue about how cutbacks work and doesn't work too much speed into him.) So ****in' what? He still got the **** beat out of him last time out. And, off that effort, he really doesn't appear to be anywhere near a contender for some of the better races.

So, yeah. Off the replay it appears that the connections had their heads up their asses in this case. See, I'm all for not senselessly abusing horses.

So Ryan is infallible and the move can't be questioned? There's a Grade II stake at Gulfstream at a mile and there was a 65k stake at 1 1/16 at Tampa last week and he shows up in a 5f sprint? You hardly have to be an aspiring trainer to see that as a pretty odd move.

If they are indeed looking for mile type races, cutting back from 7fs to 5fs for a horse's 2nd start of the year sure is an unorthodox way to do it.

weren't you one of the non-believers that knocked the horse/ connections here last year pre ky derby , surely if you and the fat man trained him you would have gotten him pass MTB and won that race as well

The difference between me and you, BRO, is that you LOSE by listening to all these IDIOTS and I WIN by doing my own thing.

I mean, explain to me why in the world you would ever bet YOUR money on someone else's opinion? This is like the ultimate castration. Then again, EUNUCHS historically are some of funniest characters, and you certainly entertain with your comments.

what i am saying is maybe quality road isnt in the race. i realize that is his next goal but its not that crazy to think something could happen between now and then. who knows what will happen in the next 2 months.

Find where I questioned him and I'll believe it. If I questioned anything it was probably your psuedo insider statements about how great he was doing because a friend of a friend of the groom called and said he ate up well.

Shouldn't you be plotting your strategy about how to beat him since the human anchor is riding?

Your out of control right now. Ryan sucks IMO, so Im taking it to a whole new level now, and honestly I think this horse sucks. I could name 10 handicap horses that are better then him, HANDS DOWN. The move is odd, and pointing to the Met is a waste of time.

People should pay me to plot out a horses career, I WOULD BE BRILLANT. Along with Ryan, Jimmy Jerkens also sucks... He seems to ruin every horse he has... How is his derby horse this year? The Afleet Alex you and Gander were gaga over.
Also I would appreciate if you start using my first name... Joseph is sufficent.

Dude I just dont get it, your taking shots at Nick and Fatboy, but its really a silly argument, I know I have made my share of those, but this horse IMO is decent at best, I know a lot of these Tampa guys wont like that, but who cares? Hes decent, the handicap division is actually turning out to be ok... Ill say right now, he wont win a Grade 1 or 2 this year.
