Not really........ He broke his maiden for a low % trainer first time out on DIRT at Churchill. If hes any race horse he shows it in a big way on dirt this Saturday.

There are few things I hate more than speed going long on synthetic. One of them is Scuds. I might have to go out into the snow for a few days or pay Ogygian a visit at the gym if Sidney's Candy flops at Santa Anita.

Peppi Knows - the Stephen Got Even who comes to play ! Wonder if Mig is back up ?

This was one of my favorite quotes from the Whirlaway....

Quote:

Trainer Tim Kreiser said Peppi Knows came out of the Whirlaway a little tired and with a cut on his left hind foot, known as a grabbed quarter, presumably from being stepped on by Eightyfiveinafifty. But Kreiser did not think the issue would result in much lost training time.
Stepped on? Ah yeah ... that's kind of what happens when you cut a horse off and you're not even close to being clear of them.

I think I remember hearing/reading that Yawanna Twist is being pointed to the Gotham as well.

lemoncrush 03-01-2010 02:17 PM

It appears that the Rebel is shaping up to be a pretty salty race.
Super Saver, Dublin, Noble's Promise, Lookin at Lucky (possible, although unlikely), Uh oh Bango, etc....

With a clean break they wont beat Dublin. I think Super Saver is going to the Tampa Bay Derby, since Todd is sending Rule to the Florida Derby.

I sort of remember a synthetic horse called I Want Revenge running in the Gotham. The others had a great view of his hind quarters.

Why are you even arguing this? He broke his maiden on DIRT. He can run on dirt, what is the issue?

There is a drf article up now about this race, it says nothing about Tiz Chrome.

If this is the group I would have to bet Wow Wow Wow.

If there is one thing I know PG, it's not to doubt ASU Devil on Tiz Chrome.

He seems pretty well connected with the horse.

Kasept 03-01-2010 08:08 PM

Andy's right. Not running as of now according to Baffert.

The Indomitable DrugS 03-01-2010 08:36 PM

How does a guy like Tim Krieser go his entire career without ever getting a taste of halfway decent stock?

That guy has been an absolute magician since the mid 90's ... which, I guess was when he started training.

Peppi Knows was a 23k weanling - who resold for 6.5K as a Sept yearling.

The guy never even gets 2yo's - only cheap claimers (which he often transforms into win machines who get slightly better every race)

In the last 10 years - he's had a total of just 40 starts with 2yo's and won with 12 of them. He must have really bad breath or not wear deoderant or something.

DrugS it takes a lot to get people to give you a few million to buy stock for them. Matz married well and gets 15 mil a year in stock and wins a few Allowance races to renew his talent.

Yeah, Matz is no Shug.

The Indomitable DrugS 03-01-2010 08:58 PM

Yeah - Matz and Shug obviously use deoderant and brush their teeth. Sometimes I think those are the two most important factors that owners look for when finding a trainer.

Although - in the case of DT Stables ... I think they first look to solidify an offensive line with their lineup of buffet busters.

I mean I should be a groom, hotwalker, head handicapper or something.

The Indomitable DrugS 03-01-2010 09:33 PM

If it's 4th and inches ... I'd feel very safe running behind the DT trainers.

Euro Awesome Act headed out of Newmarket on Tuesday afternoon to fly to America for the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday.

The son of Breeders' Cup Classic winner Awesome Again is being considered for the Kentucky Derby on May 1, but connections are keen to see how he acts on the dirt at Aqueduct before formulating any further plans, which could included a trial in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial at the New York course on April 3.

Anyone know how good he is?

I will answer my own question - VERY GOOD, he won for fun with plenty left. AA may be the real deal, but would like to see a confirmation in his next outing.
