Tom Brady NEVER THROWS THAT INTERCEPTION. This guy is horrible, and I love it.

Jesus, You must have been waiting a long time to drop this one on us.

How is it not a comparison? I know there was no way you were a Pats fan all the way back then, so let me explain: the Patriots were finally about to take the lead after being shut down all game, and Tawmmy Terrific delivered a crippling 14-point turnaround that ultimately sealed a playoff game for the other team. I'm no Manning fan, but I'd be more inclined to agree with you if you'd stop making everything about the Patriots, A TEAM THAT HAS BEEN HOME FOR A MONTH.

AeWingnut 02-08-2010 05:13 AM

the Patriots can't win without cheating

Your right, I should have not refered to the Pats and just called him a choke artist. I was a Pats fan then and I remember it like it was yesterday, but this was the Super Bowl and they were coming down to tie the game, I think this pick was A LOT BIGGER.

dalakhani 02-08-2010 09:52 AM

Peyton Manning IS a choke. Has been for large portions of his career. Greatest QB ever? Get real. He couldnt hold Golden Joe's...you know.

Having said all that, he is one of if not the best QB of our era. The whole idea that Peyton handles pressure well, though, is laughable.

Have you forgotten the AFC championship game from the 2006 season?
With a few minutes left, the Colts trailed the Pats by 3. The Colts went on a long drive down the field (mainly passing) and eventually scored to take the lead on an Addai run with about a minute left.
The Pats got the ball back and still had a chance to win it. They got to about mid-field when Brady ended any chance the Pats had to win by throwing a pick to Marlin Jackson. Game over.

exactly.. I told my buddy the same exact thing today. Peyton still played much better than McNabb could/would have.

I would do or give anything to have Drew Brees be the QB of the Eagles. Man, he is so accurate and he actually throws it to his recievers in stride. Its a thing of beauty to see. Hopefully Kolb will be like that.

The dumbest post I have ever read on any message board EVER. If you think Peyton Manning is horrible then I only hope that your handicapping skills are the same as your football knowledge cause guys and gals like me and many others on this site and thru this country need fools like you to bet down losers.

The best team won last night, the best prepared defense for sure. As a die hard Colts fan I tip my hat to the Saints, especially their defense and the coaching staff. That 3rd and 5 interception is what it is. Props to Porter, he read that right.

I freakin hate haters like you RockHard - get a life.

Brady can be scary accurate at times too … but, yeah, Brees was outstanding this season.

We can only hope (and pray) Kolb continues to develop…

Can I get a point shaving investigation on Mr Alligator Arms Reggie Wayne.

he did not have to throw a pick 6 against the giants....he did not have time to because he spent half the game on his ass.....lol. and it was the greatest thing seeing them lose after all the undefeated BS we had to hear about. 18-0 to 19-1. the one the pats lose is the SB. i call that the trump of chokes...and you are talking about this game....lol

I thought Wayne was a non factor because of injury all game. He is usually a very good route runner and he seemed to be unable to cut normally.

I'm not convinced he choked. That was a bad throw on the int....but that hardly decided the game. Brees toyed with the Colts D with short passes. Even if Peyton doesn't throw that pick, I'm not sure the colts win the game or completely stop the Saints at any time after that even if the Colts tied it that drive. It was a weird game, and I felt the Colts lost it or Saints won it at the end of the first half. The Colts had a great goal line stand which should have re-turned the game around and then with 1:50 left in the half they decided not to be the colts and ran up the middle three straight times with a 10-3 lead. Rather than trying to extend the lead with all that time and two timeouts left when the Saints couldn't really stop the Colts either all game they gift wrapped the Saints 3 points at the end of the half. Brees was excellent managing the game, but Sean Payton and Garrett Hartley were the MVPs that game. The Saints O only scored 2 TDs and both drives were under 60 yards. Hartley's long field goals bailed them out all game long. He was the real MVP. Or Payton, that on-side kick was ridiculous and he would have been rightly roasted had it failed and the Colts took it in. He had the guts to not care and do it. It won them the game along with Hartley's 3 45-50 yard field goals. Good stuff. Laying it on a Manning choke is a bit ludicrous...completely. THe Saints simply won the game. But I think a lot of stuff happened that was a heckuva lot more important in determining the game than one Manning pick trailing 24-17.

johnny pinwheel 02-09-2010 07:37 AM

of course he did not choke. it was one play and hes one guy. the thread is stupid anyway. the saints were clearly the best team. they beat the cardinals and the vikings to get in while the colts played the ravens and the jets. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who played harder teams. the point spread was a joke because of the "peyton" hype. the colts had a good first quarter but after the saints calmed down, the colts were totally outclassed and it was on both sides of the ball AND SPECIAL TEAMS.

I'm sorry, but the Vikings beat themselves.

i agree,(vikings and saints were best) thats what i said. the vikings could make chop liver of the jets or the ravens. i thought the nfc had the better teams. betting wise the 5 points were a steal, thanks to the "expert" hype we get on tv. i think the vikings would of done the same thing to the colts. it was not peyton, people won't understand that football is a TEAM sport. the saints and the vikings had better TEAMS than the colts. how could the guy choke when his team was really the underdog in my mind? the thread is stupid!

Really? A 14-point swing with 3:12 left doesn't decide the game? The Saints' offense, for all their "picking apart," scored 24 points. The Colts could've beaten that if Peyton didn't throw his pick. You can't pin the loss all on him, but to say that that play "hardly decided the game" is effing ridiculous.

Even if the Colts had scored a TD on that drive, and they probably would have, the Saints would have answered right back. The Colts defense was finished after spending most of the second quarter on the field.

I think the replays show the ball going right through Reggies' hands...no question it should have been TD for Colts. So the final would have been 31-24
Saints won a great game...EOS

Okay. Whether the pick 6 in the last 3 minutes of the super bowl giving the other team a two touchdown lead is NOT as important as a missed 50 yard field goal that wouldn't have given indy even a td lead is debatable...on some planet.

What isnt debatable is that it was a poor decision at a time in the game when the great QB's step up. Does Golden Joe make that throw? Bradshaw? Brady?

It is Manning's career in large parts. He is the golden boy and was annointed before he put on that stupid looking orange uniform. He has in many ways surpassed expectations. In many ways, he hasnt lived up to them.

That was big....as were the decisions at the end of the first half, and Manning may have called all those runs up the middle which gave the Saints 3 gift points. I don't know. It's armchair quarterbacking, we're all wrong...you as well. And we all know it was HOF'ers that Manning has played with his whole career that is the only reason for his success, like Collie and Garcon this year. Manning has nothing to do with anyone's success on that team. Isn't that how it goes on your planet??

yeah, marvin harrison was a bum. Reggie Wayne is a bum. Dallas Clarke...bum too. The edge was a bum BEFORE the acl and then a complete bum afterward. The line sucked. Defense was horrible. Peyton made them all better...Right?

Polian has built Peyton Manning some crappy teams. Built some crappy ones for the Bills before that. Amazing they keep that guy around.

I said Peyton Manning was one of the best QB's of his era. Of course he makes the guys around him better. That team is probably lucky to be 5-11 without him this year. His durability allows them the flexibility not to have to overpay a backup. He is the single most important player in the league. I honestly believe this.

Manning is at the point where he is beyond being judged against his generational peers. He is judged against the greats in history. When measured at those lofty heights, he falls short. The greats arent 9-9 all time post season. The greats didnt go to the citrus bowl every year. The greats don't throw that pick 6 with 3 minutes to go in the superbowl down by 7.

rpncaine 02-11-2010 06:34 AM

Especially Garcon droping that third down pass. He makes that play and Colts get 3 or 7 more points and things look much different.
