Good News From The Auto Industry
well kind of. Ford announced it will hire 1,200 new workers in the Chicago area to build the new Ford EXPLORER SUV a truck they obviously feel Americans want and did it all w/o a Government Bailout :tro: :tro:
Meanwhile GM announced they are selling off their Saab division to a Euro company losing jobs forever but on a positive note announced the plans to build electric cars (translation Golf Carts) in 2013 in Baltimore. More HOPE as in HOPE the plan comes to fruition and HOPE Americans begin embracing golf carts as preferred transportation. In an unabashed whore-like-move Obama will travel from DC to visit the Ford plant today for the announcement. :wf |

We have too many jobs that are lost forever. Gigantic steel industry? Big automotive? Forget it. The future is "green jobs", and other countries are proving it. We need to create new types of jobs. The old ones, the old paradigm, is gone forever. |

You are kidding right? |
What other countries are proving the future is "green" jobs?
Who is going to "create" these jobs? The UAW? |

Do any of you realize what Ford has done with its debt, why they did it and the impact it will have on its future?

While awaiting your award, please, feel free to learn about the jobs that are lost in this country forever (as this as been going on for at least 10 years), and take Chuck with you, to learn about the fastest growing job categories in other first world countries that do NOT have 10% unemployment. |

We were talking about why Ford didn't take government money or go bankrupt, and you laughed at my comment about the Union concessions. Apparently you are unfamiliar. |

Or maybe we can build better mass transit? Or maybe we can improve our snow removal system? Maybe a million things...
Like it or not, and i dont always agree with Riot, but we are in a brave new world. The old paradigm is indeed gone forever. American Society is changing and the way we view debt, credit and consumption will never be the same. And Ford DID ask government help and DID use it in the form of TALF. As far as non talf, Ford basically is issuing junk bonds to restructure its debt. Their old debt load was crushing. They had liquidity but some big notes were coming due. They just pushed it off into the future (back to the old ways) and are hoping that there is a serious rebound. The good news? There was actually a market for the debt! |
