Easy Rex, why don't you handle the Bolts first, then worry about where you are goning to play the AFC tittle game.

gotta be able to dream Matt , in all honesty i would rather go 3 games on the road a la the giants , the pressure at home in front of that crowd would be too much in my opinion , i would rather see the jets play in balt , but , you gotta take what the seedings give you

I already bet Baltimore plus 6.5 on Sportsbook, I plan on putting at least $100 on them moneyline at some point.
Baltimore plays everyone tough, look at there scedule. There biggest loss was 13 in GB when GB was playing Super Bowl Caliber Football, Baltimore lost to the Colts this year already, it was only a 2 point game.. I know it was in Baltimore but this team can run the ball anywhere vs anyone. They are my play of the week, I like Minnesota a lot also and might bet them now to try and lock them in at minus 2, I think they will get bet and that line will be around 4 at kickoff.

I honestly think they match up better vs the Colts. The Ravens are like a carbon copy of the Jets, but with a better more seasoned QB (although Sanchez played very well Sat.) The are both smash mouth running, good defenive teams.
But let them get there first, I think San Diego is a very tough match up for them. But who knows. I've said that I think that they have a team that could go to the Super Bowl if Sanchez doesn't implode. It's one down two to go till Miami.

I dont think its unthinkable, even though this is a super tough matchup for the Jets, I dont see why Baltimore cant beat the Colts, what do you think?

2 of the 4 dogs win outright next week at the minimum

I can actually see Arizona giving New Orleans trouble and Baltimore being a pain for Indianapolis. I think Dallas comes back down to earth and as much as I love the Rex Ryan and the Jets story (and I do) I think San Diego is going to humble them.

A few people I respect have already told me they love Minnestoa, the match up is much different then Philly. Philly is fast and small, Minesota is big and strong and stop the run, I kinda buy that and AP has not had many touches latley, I beleive he goes off this week. I think the Saints might hammer the Cardinals, and I liked them today, but who knows about that game I could change my mind 10 times before kickoff.

You would think that Sean Peyton, will be drooling on himself while watching the tape of Aaron Rodgers dicing up that Cards secondary.

Certainly but I am of the mind that New Orleans' defense is going to be completely exposed.

bennie wells could have a big day in the big easy , don't think the saints can stop the run

Also remember last year the Cards were underdogs in every game of the post season. They were underdogs today and will be next week, on the roads.

they are actually now 10- 0 ats in their last 10 as dogs

they are 8-2 su as dogs in their last 10 (only losing to big ben and vy both in the last drives) - not one team in the NFL has stopped this offense in those 10 games when the game was on the line and remember boldin did not play today

I respect your opinion, but I don't understand why people say this a tough matchup for the Jets other than the fact SD has won 11 in a row. The Jets have the best pass D in the NFL to match up w/Rivers and a one-dimensional Charger offense. Revis will make Jackson a nonfactor (Gates worries me, but Rhodes did a good job on Gonzalez) and the Jets got gashed by the Bengals on the ground, while SD has no running game whatsoever. Their defense also can't stop the run, so it seems unlikely that Sanchez is suddenly going to have to throw for 300 yards. It's hard to be very confident going up against a red-hot team like them, but I don't think anything about the matchup is particularly difficult.

I think the Chargers are the toughest match-up for the Jets. If Revis neutralizes Jackson the Chargers still have big physical receivers that will give the rest of the Jet secondary trouble. Rivers throws the most deep balls in the league and is one of the best at it and Floyd, Naanee, and Gates are all tough match-ups. The play I think will hurt the aggressive Jet D the most is the screen which SD does well. That being said you still have the Norv Turner factor on your side. Good Luck.

I don't think of them as one dimensional. I just don't think that they are a running team anymore. They have transformed in to an effencient passing team. No arguement about Revis, who ever he covers will most likely have a quiet day. But Rivers (who I believe has started the transformation into a top tier QB, he is extremley smart and doesn't make many mistakes) has other options and I believe he will be able to take advantage of the very agressive Jets Defense. 3 Kings mentioned Sproles and I believe that he will neutralize the Jets blitz to an extent. Also try to play with the lead, they fell behind to the Bengals and stormed right back. But you can't really compare the 2, the Bengals aren't running away with anything, while the Bolts will run you right out the building.

But once again it really comes down to Sanchez and the offense. Long drives, moving the ball and not turning it over. He/they were excellent on both sides of the ball against what seemed to be a very offensively lacking Bengals team. They bent a bit with Benson but never broke. And the passing game just never felt like they were going to be a threat (especially with Ocho stuck on Revis island).

The Jets scored 24 this week in what was almost a perfect offensive performance. Obviously the weather will be much better this week, but you would think the gameplan will be similar. 24 points gives them an excellent shot to win this game, realistically if they score 24 they should win. Can they repeat or be even better than last week performance against what I percieve to be a much better and very well rested Chargers team, we'll see. But Gang Green is cooking right now and playing with lots of confidence. I have said all along that the only thing that could stop the Jets from making a run is Sanchez. He was excellent last week, but I'm sticking with that theory.

One more side note.....I usually don't read too much into betting lines, but it seems like Vegas is begging you to bet the Jets getting 8 1/2 in the paper. It just seems a bit high to me.
Hoping it's a good game, good luck to you Jets fans. I would say that I'm rooting for you guys, but you all know that it would be a lie. But Good Luck anyway.

I'm going to think the opposite as the Chargers gang up on the run to dare Sanchez to beat them.

Don't sell the Chargers short on stopping the run: NERD ALERT!!!

During the 11 game streak, the SD defense has allowed an average of 107 yds per game while only allowing a total of 4 TD's on the ground. 107 average ranks them 8th in the league in that timespan. They tightened the ship since the lousy start to the season. Plus they allowed a total average of 228 yds per game in that span. That's better than the Jets 247 yds per game in the same span.

Um, what?

Redskins 341 yards
Titans 270 yards
Bengals 407 yards
Cowboys 347 yards
Browns 372 yards
Chiefs 284 yards
Broncos 271 yards
Eagles 462 yards
Giants 304 yards
Raiders 180 yards
Chiefs 203 yards

AVERAGE = 313 yards

As for your first point, that's what every team says they're going to do. The Bengals tried to do it. Sanchez still only had to throw 15 passes. It's not that easy.

this is the blue print to win the game for the jets

just don't botch fg snaps and have to settle for fg's

if the giants could dominate TOP the jets can as well

How about leaving Sanchez/Brad Smith manageable 3rd down conversions.

that is part of the equation

the giants beat up the chargers up front , the jets can do the same just execute better in the red zone and they will win

Marty, I'm telling you this as a friend. I do believe that they have a chance this weekend (Hell, probably a good chance based on their defense). But before you start getting all crazy with the Super Bowl fever (and I can see you are starting to get it), just remember at the end of the day........They are still the J....E....T....S.....Jets Jets Jets and these runs usually don't have a happy ending.

not getting crazy at all , i know they are the dog , just putting out the blueprint on how they can win

as a giant fan you must hate the fact that this game got away from you at the end , it was total upfront domination by the giants , but miscuses such as penalties and a botched snap on the 1st drive kept letting SD off the hook in this game

As a Giant fan there were a lot of things I didn't like this season. They always seem to leave alot of points on the field by ending up settling for FG instead of TD's. But alot of that had to do with the fact that they really didn't have a strong running game this season. Also for the first time in a couple of years the free agents they brought in sucked. But I have confidence in the front office that they will make the right moves and they will be back in the thick of it next season. Like I said a couple of weeks ago, life goes on. There are alot more important things around here to be/ I would rather be concerned with.

At least your team will spend money and try to fix things. My team is $30 million under the cap and the owners are selling bonds (again) to refinance their $1.1 billion debt at Manchester United.

Do you think they are going to step up to the plate in the free agent market? It is sad when there is no hope in the off season. I'm sure ticket prices will go up again though. 8-8 next year would be a miracle.

Oops!! I don't know how I came up with that.... especially when I'm looking at all 4 numbers in the same sheet. I was just looking at 107 yds rushing and 221 receiving! So I erase the last line when it was 328 according to my numbers.

But as for my original contention, I've seen it happen for so many years, and yes I know 'that was then, this is now.' The Jets have to go across the country and they are facing a better team this week. Plus its hasn't been that easy to run on the Chargers since the streak started.

dalakhani 01-12-2010 09:26 PM

i have the jets losing but covering the 8. Peyton has owned the ravens over the year but im still hoping (closet ravens fan). Vikings to beat Dallas...well. Zona to win outright in New orleans.
