Add this to Fairgrounds and Churchill... Really sad going into the Derby Prep season...

You don't want to watch races run on that evil rubber. Do you?

i don't really like betting them plus 4 or 5 horses per race. if they didn't simulcast it here i would not miss it!

Kasept 12-22-2009 02:43 PM

The Mid-Atlantic group is increasingly going to be without signals as they obstinately refuse to move off the lowball number they pay the Hosts. FG, CD, and now Santa Anita and Gulfstream then Oaklawn and Golden Gate by mid-January.

They are 100% in the wrong with their position, and hopefully their customers will begin to complain and get them to move.

Alan07 12-22-2009 02:59 PM

Several major winter tracks may not be available to bettors on TVG unless TVG and TrackNet settle a lawsuit by Christmas Day.

The guy from Mid-Atlantic is Marty Lieberman. He might come on. They're being ridiculous considering they haven't taken any increases in at least 4 years on the big track signals in question.

Their hardball stance doesn't appear to be working and as we progress down the derby trail their customers will become more and more pissed. But it really doesn't seem like they care very much. They probably just feel the handle will moved to other tracks that they are covering. Why does this industry still act like it is the 1960's and they have no competition?

These damn Liebermans are causing Hoopla.

Patent law is incomprehensible enough without bringing foreigners into it. You can stick a fork in TVG; I laugh every time I hear "America's horse-racing network."

jms62 12-24-2009 04:05 PM

At least they are in discussions.. Hopefully when I get back from Vacation I'll be able to play Santa Anita

Why in the Hell!

Why in the hell can I not bet, Santa Anita, Fair Grounds, and now they are saying Gulfstream.

Living close to three States, New Jersey, Delaware and Phillly I can not bet any of these three tracks at their OTB. I sure in the hell don't want to hear anything about their handle being down.

Maybe when ATR comes back Steve can get to the bottom of this Bull **** !

Ongoing Track Net/Mid-Atlantic impasse

I wrote to the email addy for my 4Njbets account twice before I finally got a BS response
"hi thank you for your email and we understand your frustration. The
mid-atlantic cooperative is currently in negotiations with track net
media to settle the dispute. Again its not just us not offering it its
the mid-atlantic region thank you
"

I could not find an email address directly for Dennis Dowd but today sent an email to him thru the NJSEA public relations email address.

It's extremely frustrating that we can't bet thru other sites from home and can't even travel drive 10 minutes over to Monmouth Park or 30 minutes up to Favorites in Woodbridge.

Everything they do is nothing more that a bandaid and it's still bleeding. Too bad, the game cant be replaced with other gaming as far as I'm concerned.

C'mon the AQ inner is great.

Not being able to bet horses is better than any 401K type savings plan. You'll be rich by year's end.

Disagree. You need to pick your spots. Stick to meets. Big days only. It can be done.

Fixing horse racing and simulcasting are two very different things.

tracknet/midatlantic any news?

still no news on any movement in the dispute? im getting nervous that we will get shut out of oaklawn as well

joeydb 01-19-2010 07:31 AM

Any new news? I'm saving all kinds of money but I hope this gets resolved before the real Derby preps start.

Taking the time to polish up my software while this is going on, but itching to play.

Joe

Apparently losing money doesn't bother these people.:(

exactamac 01-19-2010 08:01 AM

at least at the turf club in philly i was able to bet Camarero Race Track, lol  what a joke , left there at 5 o'clock after Aqu and Philly finished, the wife thought i was sick i dont usually get home that early

joeydb 01-19-2010 08:17 AM

Ditto. My wife has had similar concern for my health recently as my wagering levels have diminished...

Philly Park disappointment

OK -- so far Philly Park Phonebet bettors weren't able to bet the Churchill fall meeting, Fairgrounds, Santa Anita and now Gulfstream. By law, we can't legally open a different wagering account if we live near Pha Park. Pha Park's dumped their on-air commentators. They obviously don't care about their Phone Bet patrons now that they have the lucrative slots parlor. No one responds to letters of complaint.

This situation sucks. In the not too distant past, Pha Park had the premier phone bet account - great on-air personalites and efficient operators to take bets. They made a fortune from this system. Now their patrons can't wager on the nation's best cards. We can't bet/follow the triple crown trail.

Will this ever be rectified?

Duvalier 01-21-2010 10:01 PM

Really good conversation on At The Races today about this topic with a caller from New Jersey. You can probably hear it by pulling up the archives...it was in the 3rd hour.

If you think this is just a Philly Park problem, you are mistaken. And there is nothing to say you can't open a different wagering account if you live near Philly Park. I am a very happy TwinSpires account holder and opened the account when I used to live ten minutes from Philly Park.

Absolutely true. Philly Park is now "Philadelphia Park Casino and Racetrack". The word racetrack doesn't even come first anymore! That was also too long I guess as now I just see "PARX" billboards sitting out there. They can absolutely not care less about us, the horseplayer. I try to go to Delaware Park more often since I am closer to there anyway, but unfortunately they are still affected by the MidAtlantic/TrackNet dispute.

My frustration is boiling over. I'm going to burst a blood vessel.

joeydb 01-22-2010 08:10 AM

Day 83?

OK, I know we've been talking about this MidAtlantic/TrackNet dispute forever, unfortunately, but being in the Mid-Atlantic region there's not much else for me to focus on.

I was trying to determine exactly when the dispute started, and saw that the agreement that secured the Fairgrounds signal expired on 10/31/2009. So am I right that this dispute has been continuing for 83 days?

Eighty three days of getting reduced handle...what amazing business acumen our guys at MidAtlantic have! They should go work for AIG.

Wait until we can't bet the derby.. Amazing that players from New Jersey do not even have an option to open a twinspires, express bet, tvg account. NJ Bets has an absolute monopoly. I wonder how many lawmakers are getting a piece of the NJ Bets action. Obviously the FTC couldn't give a **** about horse players as they let this monopoly exist.
