It is imperative to inform Pat's IF you are coming to town.

Who else is in? If the weather is good I am strongly considering making the trip over Sunday morning.

Karen and I will be making the trip down from the 'Sand Flats' on Saturday and staying the weekend.....unless there's a major snow storm ;)

Swale84 12-13-2009 09:34 AM

Weather permitting, I'll be there

Tom ... I think I'll be coming out.

ShadowRoll 12-13-2009 10:40 AM

I appreciate how Chuck makes the DT horses accessible to as many owners as possible by running at diverse tracks. I'll be there to support the cause.

I would hope so, you come all the way to Arlington all the time, and now they are running in your backyard....

pweizer 12-13-2009 10:59 AM

I hope to attend.

Paul

ddthetide 12-13-2009 02:13 PM

If I recall correctly there are a couple of hotels on the same road as the track - nothing fancy. I think there is a Holiday Inn and I believe it is technically in Bensalem, not Philly (as is the track)

You are correct.....the name of the road is Streets Road and on hotel.com the Holiday Inn was going for $66. a night.

There are other choices including Marriot, Red Roof, Knights Inn all pretty much in walking distance.

Tom,

Be aware that if you stay up towards Bensalem, there is little to do. Depending on what time you arrive in the area, you may prefer staying in Center City to be able to enjoy Philly that afternoon, evening and Sunday morning.

If you like to shop (and god knows my "better half" likes too  ) or if you have some late X-mas shopping to do.......Franklin Mills Outlet Center is less than ten minutes from the track. This trip is "two-fold" for me; see KNS race in person & Karen to hit up the outlets on Saturday! :D

For those looking for hotels, I use Priceline Name-Your-Own-Price all of the time and can usually get a Hilton or Sheraton for $40/night.

As Steve said there isn't much but strip malls and chain restuarants near the track. There is a classic Philly sports bar named Chickie & Pete's which reportedly has descent food over on Roosevelt Blvd. about 10 minutes away. This would be a good place to watch the late NFL games and partake in an adult beverage or two if that interests anyone.

pmacdaddy 12-15-2009 03:51 PM

Great to hear she got in!

Any recommendations on good place for early lunch near track or on way in from NY?

stevepopyak 12-15-2009 04:02 PM

As an added bonus to the day, Richwood Silver is in Race 4.
