John Wall

Might lead the Wildcats to a championship this year.

Cannon Shell 12-05-2009 01:48 PM

If he doesnt go pro after this year KY may be over the cap next year.

Your right Coach, I just watched the UConn game and he was just quicker then everyone. Wish I would have gotten them at 10/1 when I was out in Vegas. I didn't think Calapari was THAT good to assemble a team in a matter of months, when he went to Memphis, they had four starters returning and he just finished the puzzle with Rose.

Kentucky is a very very good team.

I will say though that UConn played pretty well, they just can't hit the 3 ball.

golfer 12-10-2009 04:56 AM

Kentucky is VERY good. They will win the National Championship this year. Then forfeit it and all the wins next year. That's Calipari's MO. But Kentucky fans won't care.

Too funny!
But when you talk in blanket statements you sound ignorant.

randallscott35 12-10-2009 08:32 AM

Can't stand Calipari, gives me a used car salesman vibe.

He's full of it. The other night on his call-in show he wasted two minutes talking about the UK women's volleyball team. Like he gives a f.uck or any of the callers that were on hold.

I do think he is a good coach, corrupt maybe, but his 'scheme' works really well in college basketball.

The play he called for Wall last night after Calhoun put that better defender on Wall was a really good playcall

SniperSB23 12-10-2009 09:35 AM

I don't really care what he does so long as he doesn't lead the nation in assists.

The NCAA initially cleared Rose to play. I have a feeling the reporting would be a little different, say, if Rose had gone to Duke. Similar to Corey Magette taking money from a high school coach via sports agents while in high school prior to going to Duke. Magette admitted it and so did the high school coach, but Duke hasn't had to forfeit it's 1999 Final Four. How come there's no outcry about that? Not saying Cal is a saint, but all these college coaches work in the "gray" area.

My original post was a JOKE!!!

I am a Kentucky fan, have been for a few years. They really do have a very good team this year.

He is a great coach when he has better players than the teams he faces.

Check out his NBA record when he didnt.

Sam Cassell, Keith Van Horn and Jayson Williams weren't great players?

Cool. Obviously, I didn't take it that way. Everybody likes to take a stab at Cal whenever they get the chance. I guess that comes with all the exposure we've been getting from the national media. We're going to have a lot of fun this year. Kansas is the only team that I've seen that scares me.

otisotisotis 12-11-2009 05:28 PM

Best John Wall thread going...enjoy UK fans!

If Kentucky were to play Kansas today, in Chicago (neutral court), Kentucky would win by 10-15.

They are just f'n around in this game against Indiana.

They remind me exactly of Memphis, except Memphis had Dorsey who was horrible offensively, Kentucky has 5 guys that can score.

Let's relax a little bit. Those are hardly classic UConn and UNC teams they beat. This is the same team that needed a buzzer beater to get by Miami (OH), gave up 92 points to Sam Houston State and needed OT to beat a crappy Stanford team. Let's see what happens when they get into SEC play.

I think everyone's so used to seeing Kentucky wet the bed early in the year that they're overrating this team for not screwing up terribly yet.

You know I hate UK basketball, especially now being inundated by it in this town, but this team is GOOD and getting better.

I doubted them early after their mediocre efforts against Miami (OH) and Sam Houston State but I'm a believer now. They will steamroll the SEC.

That is the scary thing Phil, they have absolutely no idea what they are doing, they are playing street ball and all five starters can score 25 if they need to. Very dangerous.

Who is in the SEC this year anyways? Tennessee? They are quality, I know Mississippi State is playing well. I watched Florida play 'Cuse the other night and thought they were overrated.

Florida is good. Syracuse is really good. Better than Kentucky. You want scary? What Syracuse did at the Garden was scary. Way more impressive than anything Kentucky's done.

I like Syracuse this year, and I think it would be a good game with Kentucky if they got to play, but I wasn't impressed with Florida at all, watching the game I felt their talent was two notches below Syracuse.

Looks like a pretty deep year this year, deeper then I thought coming into the season where I was ready to crown Kansas, but honestly, I have a feeling that Texas will handle them.

Bill Self always chokesgets out coached in big games, and it wasn't for Calapari having a mental breakdown and never calling a timeout in the championship, he would have choked in that game also.

You should think about this.....
1.UK starts 3 FR., a SO. that averaged about 7 minutes a game last year, and a JR. that has to learn a whole new system. That coupled with limited practice time before the season and the fact that they are THE game for some of those teams makes those games close. In regards to Miami - they play everybody tough. Cincinnati only beat them by 4 and I think they just played Dayton down to the wire.
2. They are only going to get better.
3. SEC is improved, but that doesn't mean much because it couldn't have gotten much worse.

4. They would beat Syracuse by 12+ if they played now, 18+ if they play in the tourney. :D

Cannon Shell 12-13-2009 02:30 AM

Everybody is better than Louisville

You Kentucky fans are adorable. They're good, but they're being overrated, as UK teams almost always are. All I'm saying. Hope you guys put your money where your mouth is in Vegas in March. :D

And Wesley Johnson > John Wall.

Calipari doesn't run a system, it is the easiest 'system' to play because it is mostly one on one and kick out if you don't beat your guy. Dribble/Drive

Those guys have played that 'system' their whole life.

While I think that Ateam(his Big East bias) is underrating Kentucky, I also think that the UK fans are nuts. You are absolutely underrating Syracuse. They are a Final Four type team, and potentially Final Two based on the draw.

Well I agree with this- in fact I told my wife yesterday that Syracuse might be the best team in the country. My mama is an SU grad, and they are NY's team, so I have rooted for them all my life. What Boeheim has done this year is incredible after losing his top 3 scorers, if I had to pick a coach for my team it would be him. But UK isn't too far behind right now. It's a 4 horse race right now for best team between KU, Syracuse, UK, and Villanova in my opinion.

Biggest surprises, though, go to Harvard and William & Mary. NOBODY thought they would be good. William & Mary has never even made the tournament and they have a legit at-large profile right now.

already have. got them at 10-1. :D :D :D

Will Wesley Johnson even be a lottery pick? he's good, but not John Wall good.

'Cuse is good. They pose the toughest matchup for us because shooting is our weakest facet and that zone could cause us a problem. This UK team plays to the level of their competition as exhibited by the slow starts versus miami of ohio, IU, standford etc... and the starts we had against UNC and UConn. We're very young and we just need to conitue to progress and develop through the season. It's going to be exciting to see how it plays out, especially in March.
