Zenyatta

Another celebration for her at Santa Anita before she is off to Kentucky to be bred. To whom will she be bred?

Giants Causeway and AP INDY would be the first two guesses

GBBob 12-02-2009 05:06 PM

I can think of a few people on various boards who would probably volunteer for free.

You are getting sicker then me and that aint easy..

letswastemoney 12-02-2009 05:46 PM

Wouldn't it benefit the Moss's to give her to one of their own stallions? Are there any others besides Giacomo?

Tiago starts his studly duties this season as well. Both stand at Adena- not sure of the ownership ratio with Stronach though.

Oh dear. I laughed. ;)

IrishS 12-02-2009 10:15 PM

Isn't she way too valuable to breed to an unknown producer even if he is owned by the Mosses? Would they actually do that?

IrishS 12-02-2009 10:22 PM

Unproven producer is probably a better way of saying it.

Indian Charlie 12-02-2009 10:47 PM

An Indian Charlie - Zenyatta foal has a True Nicks rating of A.

A variant of 3.59

And the best horses bred on this cross are, according to the True Nicks report I'm reading:

1. Pampered Princess (G1) (Indian Charlie/Crafty Prospector)

2. Fleet Indian (G1) (Indian Charlie/Afleet)

3. Indian Blessing (G1) (Indian Charlie/Flying Chevron)

4. Two Trail Sioux (G2) (Indian Charlie/Quiet American)

5. Indyanne (G3) (Indian Charlie/Silver Ghost)

I'm assuming Zenyatta fits this profile because of her Mr P. on the damside, like all of the above.

No idea what the variant means, but hey, that's some pretty good company there.

Interestingly, the IC to Rachel Alexandra comes up with an A++ variant 61.77

Seems like a no brainer for both of these mares' mating choice.

Must be for the 5 people left in Cali who have yet to lay their eyes upon her.

parsixfarms 12-03-2009 01:35 AM

With so many of the "high-end" stallions from the Mr. Prospector line, you'd have to think AP Indy, who produced Test and Gazelle winner Flashing out of a Machiavellian mare and has shown a pretty good affinity for mares from the Mr. Prospector line (for example, 17% SW from both Mr. Prospector and Seeking the Gold mares, from a pretty large sampling).

Do they write races for 2 miles?

Who has Balance been to for her first couple of foals?

It appears that her first foal is currently a weanling colt by AP Indy.

Thunder Gulch 12-03-2009 11:07 AM

How about Tiznow? His runners seem to do well on synth surfaces so shouldn't they try to create a pro-ride legacy?

Arletta 12-07-2009 11:38 AM

Just got a notification that she worked in 50 today...

I thought she was being retired? Maybe she was just getting to be a handful and needed to stretch her legs a bit.

Smooth Operator 12-07-2009 01:29 PM

Or perhaps the MONSTER mare is gunna come after that over-hyped little eastern filly this winter…

Not likely. She wouldn't want to risk defeat. We all would love to see her try

NTamm1215 12-07-2009 01:48 PM

Maybe they can get Matt Barkley to be Zenyatta's new groom that way he has a future when he graduates from USC.

slotdirt 12-07-2009 03:23 PM

Maybe Barkley can split time with Shawn Suisham? They'll both be needing jobs soon enough.

I hate USC and this kid does suck, but he is a true freshman and this is a bit premature. A few NFL guys have said top pick 2-3 years from now.

He conveniently forgets to mention that the few "NFL guys" are Rich Kotite, David Shula, and Rod Marinelli.

gamblin4ever 12-08-2009 09:45 AM

Street Sense, Curlin, Empire Maker, AP Indy, Smart Strike, Giant Causway and Tiznow all will give a foal that would love the classic distances.

Street Sense might be a little too close to home being also by Street Cry.

Diver67 12-08-2009 12:00 PM

Smart Strike gives Mr. Prospector 2x4 but through lines not distance-challenged. I like that.

Maybe this has been linked elsewhere around here, but I caught it for the first time today while checking the Santa Anita entries at calracing.com.

It's the story of Mac McBride, the guy in the hat next to John Shirreffs caught on camera during the Zenyatta win celebration moment at the Breeders Cup.

It's a pretty good and fun read.

Sightseek 12-26-2009 04:46 PM

She looked amazing.

Watching the interviews, it really seems like the Mosses don't want to let her go. Race her again!

letswastemoney 12-26-2009 05:03 PM

Yes race her again! You only have one life to live, why not silence any doubters by taking on Rachel? Aren't the Mosses rich anyway, whether or not they get a Zenyatta colt?

Diver67 12-27-2009 03:42 PM

Because after the BCC, its tempting fate to continue. And how likely is it that a race could be put together that would be "fair" to both sides? Unless RA will point for this year's BCC. . .:p

Seriously, Mr. and Mrs. Moss, let her go out on top. Don't let hubris get the best of you--and her.

Dirt track, 6 or 7 other horses, 10 furlongs classic distance

I think that would be fair.

I think even if there was not a race written that would benefit them both, any track would make up one if they knew both horses would come

Problem 1), getting 6 or 7 other quality horses. Who are they? Problem 2) RA wouldn't be ready for 10F until summer, if then.

Dirt, everybody's fine with.

RA will never be ready for the Classic distance of 1 1/4 miles

Yeah, she really looked like she'd struggle with 10fs in the Oaks, Mother Goose, and Haskell. I guess the race flow of the Woodward and Preakness don't have anything to do with her (in)ability to handle 10fs.
