Blame

Gutsy effort to win the Clark, this dude really came on late this year. Anyone think he'll be a legitimate handicap horse next year or was he just the best of a mediocre bunch today?

Coach Pants 11-27-2009 03:40 PM

It's Al Stall so no.

Travis Stone 11-27-2009 03:47 PM

His Super Derby was really strong w/Regal Ransom loose on the lead. The Fayette was solid too... slow pace, wide trip, still green in the stretch. This was another good performance and shows the others weren't just flukes.

NTamm1215 11-27-2009 03:47 PM

I think he'll be a legitimate horse. Stall supposedly loved him prior to this year and came to La Downs for the Super Derby with a lot of confidence. He ran a good race in the Super Derby, a better race in the Fayette and a very nice race today.

How much does he need to be to get in the mix next year? I think he's good enough to be in the conversation right now.

Unless there are some hidden handicap horses that we dont know about he looks to be a contender. The older handicap horses were beyond disgraceful this year.

Who exactly are you talking about? Rail Trip? Einstein? Parading?

Gitano Hernando swooped in and beat most of the best California older horses after Rail Trip gimped out.

I thought they all pretty much sucked, synthetic or not.

Misremebered actually ran the best race. Sat up near the pace and hung in there to finish a second. This horse should be one of the better older horses next year but I wonder if Baffert will keep him in the east or keep him on poly. He has ran well on both dirt and poly.

Remember: RA is the greatest filly in our lifetimes because she beat Macho and Bullsbay!

Sightseek 11-28-2009 09:20 AM

It sounds like his goal for next year is the DWC so we might not see that much of him in the handicap division..

It is more likely that he will be the next Ketchikan or My Pal Charlie.

Why is that more likely? Blame is very serious.... Hes better then the Kentucky Derby winner, he has been better then him for about 5 months. Hes better then the Macho Again, Einstein and Bullsbay and they are the 3 best older dirt horses we had this year. With Summer Bird being injured and Quality Road having issues, Blame is right at the top of the handicap division next year.

Well said.

It's easy to poke fun at Stall because he's had a couple of horses who looked like they might be good. Fact of the matter is that Blame has already proven he's a good horse.

I never really understood why everyone thought Ketchikan was so highly regarded as he never really accomplished anything before getting hurt. My Pal Charlie showed up for the Super Derby as a N1X winner and he retired as an N1X winner and Super Derby winner. He had potential but never realized it and that, I think, is more the exception than the rule with Stall.

I'm referring to Macho, Einstein, and Bullsbay as the three best older dirt horses this year. I guess 1 out of 3 is good enough for you guys.

Who was better than those three, or two of those three, as DIRT horses this year?

Ketchikan was a good horse with a lot of potential. In the Louisiana Derby, he made a premature move on the first turn, set splits of 23.61, 46.53, 1:10.88 before yielding to Circular Quay in the stretch. It was huge effort by Ketchikan in only his fourth career start. In his prior effort, he easily won a Nw1x mile allowance and got a 99 BSF. Unfortunately, he was never the same after being injured while preparing for the Arkansas Derby.

It's a sad state of affairs if this horse is considered a top 5 contender next year. Just saying.

Coach, what has this horse done wrong?

FLORIDA CRUSHES BAMA ON SATURDAY, I HAVE A REVERSE W/ FLORIDA AND AN OPEN REVERSE I PLAN ON USING FLORIDA ON.

NTamm1215 05-13-2010 10:53 AM

I'm expecting Blame to make it clear he's a major player in the handicap division on Saturday.

Disagree. This not an easy group 1st of a layoff at all. A poor bet to win.

If it was on the inner track I could see your point. Who exactly do you think is good in this race?

Understatement ran a negative number in Maryland before. I'm throwing out Bullsbay's last as well. Nothing wrong with Indian Dance....I will be playing a spread and not using Blame at all in Pick 4s.

Good luck, I think you'll lose, but if we all agreed all the time this game would be no fun at all.

I think Understatement is finished and was an inner track wonder, Bullsbay coming back in two weeks off of a horrible effort is a big no thank you. Indian Dance is moderately interesting but if you believe he's going to get the setup he needs then you have to believe Blame is as well.

If Beattie gets her stuff into her horse it could win....Blame is no single.

Understatment stinks...horse falls flat on his face anywhere outside of the inner...no excuses for Blame to lose this race. Bullsbay isn't much. Only horse I would think who can beat Blame if Blame falters is actually Flying Private who actually looks to have come back in one piece and hasn't been awful and actually looks to get his setup on Saturday. Should be an easy 3 spot in multis with Blame, Flying Private, and a little Indian Dance.

Sorry Understatement does not stink. I think he runs big on Saturday. Yes he is an inner monster. The bull ring of CT does nothing for me, I can throw that out with impunity.
