The Giants and Bengals

have been exposed.

ateamstupid 10-18-2009 03:00 PM

Hell of a comeback by the Ravens here.

The Giants have lots of injuries in the secondary and faced a team with an extra week to prepare and playing at home. It was a trap game and will mean little going forward.

A trap game? Maybe you have a different definition of that than I do. To me a trap game is when you play a crappy team right after a big win or before a crucial game.

you're right.

that n.o. offense isn't much. it was a surprise to everyone they could score like that.

it was all about the bye week.

I thought I spelled out why I think it was a trap. So if you don't agree, obviously I have a different definition. That game was bad news for the Giants, ...painfully obvious before the kickoff.

Yep, nothing to do with having 3 starters hurt on defense. It happens, one game. An extra week of prep means a ton in the NFL. It also gives an extra week to get healthy, which is a huge factor as well. If you don't know that, I can't really help much.

Seriously, I don't recall knocking the Saints at all. They are very, very good. If they play at Giants stadium in December with the Giants coming off a bye, you expect the same result?

Vegas refused to move the line to 3 1/2 because they knew everyone would pound the Giants. Secondary injuries or no, the Giants were expected to put forth a better showing than that.

Sure they were, but they didn't, and I don't think it matters much in the long run. That was my only point. I also don't bet football and don't care about point spreads.

Regardless of whether you bet, spreads are generally a good indication of how a team is expected to perform, that's all I'm saying.

cmorioles 10-18-2009 04:23 PM

Vegas makes the lines based on how people are expected to bet, not how the experts think the teams will perform. The Giants are almost always overbet in Vegas.

That's why I said generally. Obviously there are a handful of teams that get a few points in their favor each week, but in general it's a good gauge.

Cannon Shell 10-18-2009 04:43 PM

The fact that the Giants secondary is really suspect was certainly exposed against a very good offense. The fact that they got little pressure on Brees has to be concerting to them. While they do have injuries, Phillips is out for the year and Ross hadnt played this yet, they were the top ranked pass defense coming into today. They were dreadful today.

The Bengals just didnt do anything well.

Especially since Brees was 0-4 with really bad performances coming off the bye the last four years.....

This is really far from reality....
The Giants simply are not that good and I know Philly is struggling now, but they are the best team in that division.

cmorioles 10-18-2009 05:42 PM

Talk about far from reality. They are struggling against one of the worst teams in the league, and that is in a league full of bad teams.

Thats fine... Every team has a bad week. The Giants had the worst schedule in the league till today and they were not even COMPETITIVE.... Even the Jets were competitive...
I really dont care, MY PATRIOTS ARE BACK IN A GIANT WAY...

NTamm1215 10-18-2009 05:49 PM

I don't really know why anyone would want to make proclamations like "so and so is the best in that division" or "that team can't lose their conference" given that the NFL is such a week-to-week sport.

The Eagles and Giants have largely beaten up on the same crappy teams but the Giants at least have a quality road win. They got hammered today but it is not a game that shoud dictate whether or not they are a good team going forward.

No Crotchery. LOL

Wait till Joey sees this. You know he is freakin going nuts right now.

declansharbor 10-18-2009 06:11 PM

I'm sick to my stomach. Literally.

Cannon Shell 10-18-2009 06:18 PM

The NFC East is officially disgraceful. Giants routed, Skins lose to pitiful KC, Eagles lose to pitiful Raiders.

Cannon Shell 10-18-2009 06:36 PM

Why didnt Buffalo run the ball up the middle one more time to get the ball in the center of the field?

Scintillating performance by the Birds

That 2/16 third-down conversion rate was mighty impressive.

Sure look like legit Bowl contenders...............

Please don't beat a dead horse. Post #17 in this thread took care of the Eagles.

Because they drilled a winless team that rolled over in the second quarter?

2MinsToPost 10-18-2009 08:22 PM

Earlier this morning while I was travelling around laughing at the local Suckeye SweaterVest Nation after their loss to Purdue I switched over to ESPN Radio. Some cat actually said that Eli was so overcome by local family and friends for tickets to the game that it would affect his preperation for the game and in affect his ability to perform at 100%.

Give me a break. I think Eli is great and the Giants staff but what a joke of an excuse, overcome by ticket requests? Gotta do better then that.
