What the f is he doing running through the stop at third base? Then instead of laying the wood and putting his shoulder down he goes in 2 hands first... Pretty shitty play, he was never tagged, but he never touched home anyway.

What else did you expect from this girl?

MaTH716 10-17-2009 08:02 AM

You guys are unbelievable. The guy has been great so far and he is still catching s.hit. Mathis was just about on the F'n ground. It was almost impossible to barrel him over completely and he still got a decent shot on him. It took an amazing play by Mathis to get him at the plate. But the the bottom line is, that no matter what the guy does he will always be wrong or a woman to some people. But if Captain America would have done it, it's a smart heady move by a guy giving his all.
I wonder what's going to happen if the Yanks do end up winning it all. Who's going to catch the s.hit that the haters constantly spew?

I know hes been great thats why I started this thread last week. I keep it real though and that **** last night was just shitty.

Gander 10-17-2009 08:30 AM

I never said he isnt super or hasnt been great so far this post season. But hes not really a true Yankee, he's his own island. I live in NY and know a lot of Yankee fans and just about every one I know either dislikes A Rod or is indifferent to him, obviously hoping he does well because it counts for the Yankees success. I dont know a single person who really likes this guy.

If they win the WS? If? LOL, its a foregone conclusion and the irony is the Yankees are so good this year they can win this thing if A Rod were to have gone 0 for 50.

True Yankee? Come On..... So if they win he will be officially a true Yankee? Will C.C., Tex and Burnett have to wait 3 more years or will they be considered true Yanks too?
I personally think that he is and always has been a tremendous talent. I also think some people dislike or are indifferent to him because of Captain America (don't know if it's a man love thing, jealousy of talent or some other ridiculous issue). Don't forget that this is a fan base (including myself) who cheered and loved Roger Clemens (A guy who notoriously beaned Jeter on a consistent basis). But A-Rod has always been treated like the step child around here and it hasn't always been warrented. But, Jeter (the Captain, that whatever he says is gospel) has never came to A-Rod's defense. That year he sucked and Torre batted him 8th. Or even the steriods issue. Not once did the Captain come to his defense and stick up for him. This is also the guy that went to bat for Jason Giambi when he apoligized (but no one knew for what). I really believe that's why he hasn't been embraced by all Yankee fans.

As far as them winning, nothing is a forgone conclusion. But as long as they keep getting strong starting pitching they have a very good chance of winning it all.

Gander 10-17-2009 12:47 PM

Derek Jeter is such a complete package, I sometimes think hes not real. Hes probably the best baseball player (when it comes to both producing for himself and the team) who has ever played. I cant think of anyone else who has done consistently what he has done. As far as not coming to A Rod's defense, there probably is a pretty good reason for that. Seems like A Rod is just about the only teammate Derek Jeter hasnt completely embraced. That kind of says something, dont you think?

Albert Pujols will probably go down as the most talented and statistically the best ever (in 10-12 years), and it doesnt hurt he has already been a key part in one WS title and guessing there will be at least 1 more. But Derek Jeter is the guy you want any team built around.

Not that any of us know these superheros in real life, but doesnt it just seem like Jeter is a pretty good guy in real life too?

There was once this guy who played right field. Batted left handed. Pretty fair hitter. Cant think of his name. Supposedly built a famous stadium. Dont worry it will come to me....

Hold on Derek Jeter is the best baseball player ever....

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

You would think the best player ever would carried his team to a World Series title ......this decade!!!

Hold on....

Never been a fan of Arod, but what he is doing thus far this postseason is pretty special. Gotta give credit where credit is due. He is silencing a lot of critics right now.

RockHardTen1985 10-22-2009 07:01 PM

I predict a first inning ABOMB RIGHT NOW.

RockHardTen1985 10-22-2009 07:02 PM

ugh. I bet the over and I cant get any runs here.

With the impending rain coming, I wouldn't be suprised to see Girardi start C.C. game 6 on Sunday (which I disagree with).

As a Yankee fan, you should disagree with most of this guy's decisions.
In the unlikely event that the Angels come back and win the next 2 games, do you think Girardi will be gone?

It's hard to fire a guy that's team won over a 100 games in the regular season. And push comes to shove, it's the players that didn't come throught last night. As much as I don't like many of his moves, last night really wasn't his fault. I thought he left Burnett in one batter too long. Then the A-Rod pinch run thing never came into play. And like I said last night, I really don't think that he would have pinched hit Hinske for Swisher if he was on the roster.
That being said, I think it's very unlikely that Girardi would be canned if they should end up losing to the Halo's.

Well I tend to agree with you. But the reason I ask is it is after all NY, and the Yankees and the pressure that comes from the owner of the most successful sports franchise ever.

Still not getting that pitching move Joe made in the 11th inning of Game 3. Lets hope that doesnt really end up costing him/them.

The move made no sense. But don't forget, it was a tie game there. No gaurentee that they were going to win that game anyway. Not sure how this series is going to play out, but if it ended right now the onus will be mainly on Swisher, Texieria (to a certain degree) and Hughes.

As long as a Stienbrenner is calling the shots, it is possible.

I believe the great majority of people arent Yankee fans. Plus Yankee fans deserve no camaraderie from other fans because, they have, you know, won the most World Series.

Ted Williams head may thaw out at the thought of a Red Sox fan actively rooting for that other team.

Honestly that would be me, but I consider myself a far bigger Red Sox fan than Yankee hater.

The Yankees winning the WS this year would not bum me out. I have far too many good friends and family members that love the Yankees.

The Red Sox losing to Tampa last year in Game 7 sent me into a 2 week depression. This year, it didnt hurt so much when they embarrased themselves in Game 3 against the Angels. I actually was amused by it because I cant stand Papelbon. Kind of reminded me how the team gave up in that series in 05 against the White Sox. Sure the White Sox were the far better team, but it was very apparent that the Red Sox could care less their season was over and were glad to get it over with!

You know they were secretly rooting for the Sox plane to crash and you to get swine flu when they won their two latest titles right?

I look at the Red Sox rivalry different these days. I always looked at it as the Haves and the Have nots. I took great pleasure in knowing that the Red Sox hadn't won in such a long time. Once they finally broke through (and especially the way they did it) the rivalry lost a little something for me.
And if I was a Red Sox fan, you a so happy that they finally broke the curse (or whatever you thought was wrong) that nothing else matters. If they never won another game again, you wouldn't care because it's like you saw the impossible. That's the way I felt when the Rangers won the cup in 94. I never thought I would see that in my lifetime and because I did, as crazy as it sound I don't die as much every year when they get knocked out of the playoffs.
