How do you think Mine That Bird will do on Saturday?

Should you forgive his last place finish in his only start at Santa Anita?

Cannon Shell 10-07-2009 02:30 PM

Who?

I think he sucks, but will run well.

10 pnt move up 10-07-2009 02:42 PM

I think he finishes in the back half of the pack, these are better horses than he has been facing.

DaTruth 10-07-2009 02:56 PM

Seconds after he wins the Goodwood by double digits, someone will start a thread speculating about his chances for HOY. I'm saving the MTB for 3yo champ thread until after he wins the Clark.

Chip Woolley says MTB has an advantage over Rachel from seven to twelve furlongs.

Yeah, he's just awful. Champion 2YO in Canada; Derby winner; Preakness runner-up to Rachel; and third in the Belmont to Travers-JCGC winner after a premature move by an overconfident jock.

I think he SUCKS. Maybe he's just over the top. Is that a problem?

With the notable exception of 9.5f, but who's really keeping track anyway.

If you think that little of Mine That Bird, who's a "good" horse in your opinion?

richard burch 10-07-2009 07:21 PM

they just showed the overhead view of the derby again.

no matter how many times i see it, it is just one of the greatest and most impressive victories ever !!!

of course my opinion is irrelevant.

A horse off of back to back beats at Sunland Park going all Street Sense on a bunch of seemingly superior to him bums.

By the way, use those fancy overhead shots to compare the rides between Borel and that Chris Rosier guy on Summer Bird. I don't think Rosier will ever see any triple crown action again.

Obviously I'd only rate the great Borel CD ride MTB got as the distant #3 reason why he won. Safe to say the tremendously sub-par field and the extreme change of running style tactics were a long way 1st and 2nd.

Hah. I know the real reason you found that interesting.

That race freakin blew.

i'm going with:

For those of you that bet on that crap surface; is there anything to suggest that Gitano Hernando is any worse than Muhannak was? and is there anything to suggest the rest of the synthetic slowpokes in this race are any slower than the synthetic slowpokes in the Marathon last year? Seems like anytime you have a crappy Euro that might go off at long odds on the fake tires you have to bet it.

Who's your cat in the fight? If someone wants to give me a reason why the American horses will crush the Euro then please do so. If not then let's just discuss what the best timing mechanism is.

Why not? Are they crappy or does Tiago and Richard's Kid excite you that much.

If this was Mastercraftsman and Rip Van Winkle, that would be different. These Euros aren't indicative of the top talent from over there.

So you are saying that the Euros coming over that Sea the Stars has beat are a bunch of claimers that will be exposed as such when Sea the Stars is beat?

Not sure where you get that from. I think Rip Van Winkle should be favored for the Classic. I think Fame and Glory and Conduit should be the two favorites for the Turf. Mastercraftsman deserves a good look. The top Europeans are good. I don't think any Euros in the Goodwood are that good though.

I'd rate him behind Fame and Glory and Conduit but would make him third choice in the Turf. Maybe fourth behind the filly from over there.

If he's anything like he used to be I'd say Col John looms large here. And yes, MTB could make a cold exacta.

FTFY!

Man, I hate being old English teacher like around here, but I felt your word usage really needed to be graded and then corrected.
