Anyone else think that candy corn may possibly be the most disgusting food ever? I can't even look at it without cringing.

Sorry..love it..and I don't really like candy that much

I like it too, though now prefer the 'Harvest Corn' version with the brown chocolate bottom... Who here remember 'Chocolate Babies'?

I like mellow cremes (spun sugar) in general, including those utterly ridiculous 'Circus Peanuts'... :o

we have a bag of Harvest corn in the pantry now! and we remember the Chocolate Babies.
we just saw Circus peanuts at the store ! .... this is just to funny.:D

Love and miss chocolate babies. We use to get them at Lakeside Farm in Ballston Lake. Also love candy corn but it has to be the good, fresh kind. Brachs makes it good. Most grocery store brands are terrible. Like you I would give a slight nod to Harvest Corn.

And here I thought I was the only one that still liked Circus Peanuts:tro:

candy corn is gross, so are peeps or anything with marshmallow. but circus peanuts are the worst candy ever invented.

Looks like a screwed up yellow duck or something. Seriously, this is candy that tastes good and sells? Bout the only candy I partake in is some swedish fish, starburst and juju's.

I remember sugar babies, the were like bite size sugar daddies. Candy corn sux.

They are still made. Have seen them recently on a counter display at a convenience store. I believe the dentists are responsible for all the candies listed in this thread. Pure Sugar = more cavities in children.

Talk about pure sugar. Do you remember Fun Dip? It was a sugar bar that you sucked on and then dipped in more colored/flavored sugar. It was like kiddie crack!

I remember candy cigarettes. They were good, but hard to light.

I liked Pop Rocks when I was a kid.

Actually, yeah. Nasty.

Then again, I eat raw meat, so I'm probably not a good judge on these things.

Sugar - probably the safest ingredient

Corn Syrup - probably the high fructose type, which is now found to have higher mercury content than tuna/swordfish/shark

Confectioner’s Glaze - generally made from bug guts

Natural and Artificial Flavors - uh, yeah!
Salt - most salt used in this country is an industrial byproduct, where the minerals (besides NaCl) are taken out for use in other products. Relatively innocuous.

Artificial Colors, (FDC Yellow 6 Lake, Red #40, Red 40 Lake, Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Blue 1 Lake, Blue #1, Yellow 5 Lake) - Food Dyes are terrible for some people, merely bad for the rest.

Egg Whites - Ok, this is probably the best ingredient. Then again, commercially raised chickens spend their entire lives in dark rooms drugged up for quick growth and to fight infections from grotesque living conditions.

Honey Glycerin - I am completely unfamiliar with this one.

Mineral Oil - a byproduct left over from the production of gasoline. Petroleum, it's not just for breakfast anymore!

Carnauba Wax - relatively benign from what little I know about it.

Sugar Babies are still widely accessible and another favorite of mine. There's also a new 'Candy Apple' Sugar Babies flavor that come out in the fall. Sugar Dadies are only in the smaller size these days.

Now... the question is, who remembers Sugar Mamas which had a chocolately coating over the caramel?

Yes! when i was in little league my mother was in charge of the consession stand 1 season. i got to help buy all the cool junk! our favorite then was Charleston Chews. vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. excellent frozen.

And I thought I was the only freak who knew about this stuff. :D

Honestly I never heard of it until my google search just now. I pretty much stick to the concepts of "Clean Eating" and have felt a million times better than 10 years ago when I wasn't..

Yeah, me too. Nothing processed.

What's cool about slow food is they can help you find good sources of clean and locally raised produce, meats, etc.

And real corn, not the candy stuff!

One thing I really love about where I live now is that there are so many places that support natural and local foods.

Yeah man, same here! I moved from LA to Southern Maine, and alot of the reason was for that.

The only thing I ever go to a grocery store for is bananas! I've also taken up bow hunting this year.

I get all my meats and produce from within ten miles of here, and I often go out in the woods for wild apples, berries, grapes, mushrooms, you name it!

I'm trying to find a patch of wild candy corn, but alas, I've had no success with that :(
