Salty group. 21 and change? Some of these can flat out sizzle. This is the kind of race so many wise guys will bet the closers in, but I betcha the winner of this race wires the field. Often happens in races looking like the pace has to collapse

Songster?

ateamstupid 09-24-2009 08:32 PM

That's the best collection of horses I've seen run for $65k in a long time. Makes it mighty incongruous looking when you see ho-hum NY-breds coming out of $84k off-the-turfers at Saratoga.

What does that word mean? I'm too hungover to use the dictionary. Thursday nights are our crazy nights.

Gander 09-25-2009 02:27 PM

Songster ran way too good to only finish 4th. I thought he was the only good value in the race.

I disagree... 6-1 off that Deleware effort??? The winner ran REALLY WELL. Lucky Island is FINISHED.... Those couple GIANT EFFORTS, came from where?

Linny 09-25-2009 04:13 PM

Ravalo was the most appropiate winner. He's now 13 for 27 lifetime. He's a hard hitter like Spooky was. Anyone who bets Accredit against good horses on a dry track should have their head examined. Songster just ain't the horse he was at 3. Lucky Island, see "Songster." I thought Gold Trippi had a shot to close is the pace was blistering but it wasn't.
I'm happy Ravalo won though, I'd rather get beat by him than a has been.

Accredit took loads of late money to reach 4/1. With 10 mtp he was still 8/1.
At the time 8/1 looked like a huge overlay. This is a horse who needs the lead to win and I think thats even more important than him needing a wet track. Gold Trippi had every shot in the book, but at this distance he is nothing more than a plodder.

Yea, like it might seem incongruous for Nick Heinz to name quintuplets

1)Aga
2)Pito
3)Delga
4)Dillo

(but it wouldn't shock me.)

I'd use Sara Louise, Any Limit, Thunders Dove, and hope for another dull one from Indian. Baffert says she's ready though. In other words, I hate this race.

Why hate it? Im using her and only her. Hoping SL bounces.... I think Baffert has to have her ready to run a top race and even if SL fires, Indians best should be good enough.

I just love how the connections of IB said she was training better than ever for the Ballerina at SAR, then after a defeat out come the excuses of walking for two weeks, missing some breezes and a sore foot. Would have been nice knowing forehand. Anyway, she is topclass at Bel on a fast track. Look forward to a great race..

You missed the part where she was "training better than ever, besides the bad foot, the 2 weeks of walking, the missed breezes, etc.."

Agree about late money bur Accretdit is 5 for 5 on wet with one win over suspect horses on dry. Gold Trippi needed a mich faster pace. That 22+ was too slow for this class to set up his move. I admitted I was beat in there but I still like the winner. He's an honest racehorse.

Well, sure, her best is good enough. She ain't been anywhere near her best. Since Dubai she's not showing the fast middle she should be showing. She loves a wet track, but couldn't get separation. That's just not right,k? You look at that race in June. That's definitely not right. If she was showing her fast mid-race stuff, and getting a lil late, then I'd feel better about her. If it was any other trainer in the country, then I would not touch her tomorrow. Since it's Baffert, I've gotta show some respect, and leave the race alone. This guy usually bounces back after one bad performance (not two.) She should of had separation on Music Note coming into the stretch. She loves slop. She got an easy first quarter. Should of drawn off by a couple lengths on the turn. She couldn't. She's the class. She has the best sprint trainer in the business. He says don't bet against her. That's the only reason I am not betting against her.

The real Indian Blessing is a terrific race horse. I heard Baffert on TVG he seemed genuine about her current condition. What confused me was his decision to even run at Saratoga. I guess he thought it wouldn't hurt her to go even if she wasn't 100%??? I never get the concept of running a champion at less then 100% but whatever. I am rooting for her she is one of the better sprint type gals we have seen in a while.

I like running them when a race comes up that fits them. If they aren't physically healthy, then don't run them but if it's just a conditioning issue, run them. If you wait til they are 100% everytime to run them, they end up running 2-3 times a year.

THunders Dove is the Key Great sheet Numbers coming into the Race

King Glorious 09-26-2009 04:20 PM

That was a fun race to watch. The champ was tenacious in the lane. The up and comer gave her all she had. Fun race.

NTamm1215 09-26-2009 04:27 PM

Outstanding effort by Indian Blessing, definitely the type of race she needed off of the dull two earlier this year. Final time was very strong to boot, 1:15.29.
