really, that tactic is an equal one from both sides...remember 'you're either with us or against us'? if you spoke out, your patriotism was in question. the shoe is on the other foot, but the message is pretty much the same. |

1) gay or 2) a woman of reproductive age or 3) a gunowner But there are only a few million people that fall into any of those categories living in this country, so....yeah....lets get back to issues that matter.....like uninformed, unproductive government bashing. |

The govt not only deserves bashing, but requires it to keep it on the right path. |

uninformed, unproductive government programmes even sounds right! |
Obviously there is no doubt that the people in government (of all parties) often deserve criticism, and perhaps sometimes even abuse.
But the constant harping on the idea by conservatives and libertarians that the federal government always makes things worse and hasn't ever fixed anything is.....well.....as tiresome as it is completely incorrect. |

boats need anchors. society's need conservatives.
that's not an insult. i think the conservative movement has historically served an important role in our country and other's. it's also why i worry about the intellectual bankruptcy of conservative idea's at the moment. they've thrown out the whitaker chamber's and william f. buckley's and replaced them with sarah palin and joe the plumber. liberals should worry about this as much as mainstream republican's. everyone needs a worthy adversary to keep them sharp. the chances that we go far astray are higher when the only argument against your idea's come from beauty queens and high school dropouts. you get soft. |
Lol
Good to see BO take the do-nothing cons behind the wood shed with some lines in that speech earlier tonight. Shame they always have to drag cons into the future.......... |

I'm against the Gov't being involved in the internet, and that's because there will always be someone wanting to get the Gov't to take away content they find objectionable. Where were these(Conservative) personal privacy proponents when Bush signed the Conservative-Sponsored internet gambling bill? They believe in limited Gov't? WTF was that? G Damn hypocrites.

2) You learned a new insult phrase! Good for you! :tro: |
It wasn't very classy to do what Wilson did. That being said, I do feel the best argument against the President's speech is that he did not mention any efforts to curtail illegal immigration. Even if he says they aren't going to be insured, they're still going to have to be taken care of in the E.R. of our hospitals. If we all agree that Medical care is expensive, then curtailing illegal immigration has to be a big part of any effort to improve the medical care for Americans. That's just a simple reality that progressives need to stop ignoring. Yes, we all want a better world, but Americans should not have to be punished because people of other cultures see fit to irresponsibly breed beyond their means.
