The owners said on TVG that he was leaning towards not running in the Travers.

Did anyone else see the guy? He was wearing a Cowboy hat and what looked like a Raiders offensive lineman football jersey.

He talks like he has been kicked in the head by those quarter horses too many times.

I dont put any stock into anything the guy says.
After he said his A.P. Indy maiden had a shot to win the preakness.

I hope he runs, but will he make any impact? I may be wrong, but I think Quality Road has as much talent as any top 3yr old we have had recently. I hope its a big field, and I pray Rachel runs to improve the odds on QR.

Possible to PA Derby. WHy not? Why run against QUality Road when you can collect a nice check down here against the B team?

Why not run against him? He is her only legit competition right now. I feel strong that he would defeat her. Zenyatta is more then likely not coming to race her, so why not have the big showdown next Saturday? If they both go next Saturday, when is the last time we have had a showdown like this?

Of course I am talking about Quality Road. MTB is a plodder IMO. Who had favorable set up's in his wins. He will win again, because he is a gelding and has handled poly, but he's not in QR's league.

Quality Road vs Rachel would dwarf this. They're both a zip code better than either Ten Most and Peace Rules. Those 2 have already been forgotten and for the record, it was hardly a showdown.

you better hope Rachel doesnt run or you will lose your money. IF she didnt win the race over Quality Road.. they would burn each other out and a closer would win.

I saw the interview and the amazing thing is that TVG's talking head - Mike Joyce - didn't even acknowledge the owner's comments. He wouldn't know a story if one fell on him. Allen did say that MTB would likely return to New Mexico and begin BC preparations. Since they have committed to parading him before the All American Derby, I think it's reasonable to believe that the PA Derby is not being considered.

It was about Mine that Bird, but I brought QR into it because I think he's one of the top 3 year olds in the last 3-5 years. I beleive he is as good as anything we have had.

I agree, with the exception of Rachel, who I think is not only more talented than QR, but obviously at this point more seasoned. I think we are very lucky to have both of these 3 year olds in training, not to mention a good possibility for a showdown in 8 days.

I know QR didnt get the chance to win races that really matter, but he still has time to win the Travers, Jockey Club and maybe a shot at the BC.
To me he is as good as any 3 year old colt since Point Given.

Rachel is in her own sport.

I thought I read Mine that Bird had some kind of minor procedure done and that was the reason he wouldn't run in the Travers? My mind could be escaping me, of course.

He did and it went very well. It was done earlier this week in Long Island and hes already back at Saratoga. It was an operation to correct a breathing problem due to his epiglottis getting in the way. I dont think he will resume training untl this weekend, but the last I heard he is still trying to make the Travers.

Light gallups this morning thru the weekend and Workout on Monday or Tuesday.
Chip is just being a extra cautious, I guess he spoke with D. Wayne and Pheltcher and asked how this type of procedure plays out, and they both reassured that it is no big deal at all, so his mind is a little more at ease. Just keeping an eye to make sure no infection sink in and he should be a go.

An off the board finish in the Travers is better than an off the board finish in the Pennsylvania Quaker Oats Challenge.

how fast people forget. she was life and death at the wire in the preakness. and the travers is another 1/16. it was the only race thats been close for her this year. i hope he runs, and rachel too, that procedure usually moves horses up. with quality road in there, the pace will be legit if not quick. thats all this horse needs. a mile and a quarter and targets tiring out. his last two trips were terrible, moved up prematuraly in both. if all these horses run, he will be the FORGOTTEN ONE. its got value written all over it. i figured he would lose at that bullring in west virginia(i was hoping). if he does run the price just went up. i'll be laughing all the way to the window after. his last race at this distance was an absolute laugher. if he does enter this guy talking just added a couple more points on the board. which is fine by me.

Quality Road will win with/without her. It really wont matter. He is that good. The Birds will be lucky to make the exacta. I will take Warriors Reward for second.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Quality Road needs Rachel in order to win.
