Arlington Million/The race

be interesting to see how the ongoing battle between Cacique and EC continues to play out, especially with both of them carrying the same weight.
I realize there are tons of other great horses in this race, but this is turning out to be a great rivalry.

When carrying the same weight, EC is 2-0 vs. Cacique
the one time EC lost to Cacique by a 1/2 length, he was carry 2 more pounds.

Every little bit helps in these routes.

Scav 08-11-2006 09:08 AM

This is the most wide open Million I have ever seen.....I am hopefully going to using like 5 horses, it is ridiculous how wideopen this race is....10 horse blanket finish, MAJOR RHYTHM WINS(Arlington would burn down, for the 2nd time, if this happens)

My race by race analysis will be up later tonight for all to enjoy...BOOOM BABY, it is PRE MILLION DAY

Pointg5 08-11-2006 09:11 AM

Don't like the Euro's, I think EC wins this one. I'll be cheering for him to win, if not him Cacique or Better Talk Now, but I would prefer EC to win...

all I can do is shake my head...:o

Gander 08-11-2006 09:13 AM

I'm starting to like Better Talk Now's chances and willing to throw out his unusually bad United Nations. I think the pace will be a lot faster than people think. EC and Cacique are both going to go from the far outside. Theres no way either one of them will just simply drop back and try to close in here. The Tin Man is fast and so is Ace.

I think this race is won by a closer in the final strides. Going to be a dandy.

Double or nothing in this race instead Tim? EC vs. BTN

Scav 08-11-2006 09:20 AM

BTN = Toss for me

I am heading towards the euro loving with a little channel..Probably just play exacta and pick three in this race and possible win money on Touch of Land...

i will say this though, English Channel has no excuse in this race, he will get an unbelievable trip unless he breaks bad and should get first run on everyone.

With their being no rail, look for horses to just come flying late, Rock of Gibratler(?) style (MAN, that was awesome)

Gander 08-11-2006 09:23 AM

Why not Kev. Why not.

I am a really sporting guy giving you a horse that will be 3 times shorter the price but thats the kind of guy I am

GPK 08-11-2006 09:26 AM

if I think any Euro in this race has a chance, its Soldier Hollow.

You'd gamble $20 on 2 ants crossing the street...

Gander 08-11-2006 09:29 AM

With the Euros, how do you know? I mean its a total guess how they'll run.
Ace has US form, but going winless the last 2 years and the fact that he'll be 5/1 doesnt exactly make you want to run to the ATM. I think he'll run very well, but I have to be a little Pro american in here.

GPK 08-11-2006 09:33 AM

Soldier Hollow is 12 6-4-0 at this distance, he had a nice little 1 mile tightner in his last vs. less....Looks like he is sitting on a big one and they were pointing him to this reace. He would be no surprise at all IMO.

Rene on the grass don't hurt either...allways been a fan of his riding on turf.

Habersham000 08-11-2006 09:35 AM

If English Channel goes to the front or is anywhere near the front there is no way he wins....I agree with Gander I kinda like Better Talk Know, there should be enough pace, with a firm turf and a course that favors closers he has a great shot.

JV learned the lesson last year with EC. He knows that he needs to be 3-4 lengths off the leader to give it his run. EC has to have a target to run at, plain and simple.

dr. fager 08-11-2006 09:41 AM

I thought the same thing in the United Nations....but he rated....didn't like it one bit...but did it anyway....

Cajungator26 08-11-2006 09:41 AM

With me as his jockey, Phoenix Reach will be blowing by English Channel, Cacique and Better Talk Now.

zippyneedsawin 08-11-2006 09:48 AM

I'll be using EC, Cacique, and the Euros in the Pick-4.. I'm tossing BTN and Tin Man.

eurobounce 08-11-2006 09:55 AM

This race is perfect for the Europeans coming over. Really not much pace with the exception of The Tin Man. Europeans love looping along with a pack of horses and then sprinting to the finish line. The Tin Man might get some pressure from Cosmonaut but I really doubt it. Now with so many mid pack runners, traffic is going to be a huge issue. The key to this race (and most races) is going to be the trip the horses get. Therefore this becomes a jockeys race. I think the European horses have an advantage in this type of race. The two Europeans that I love in this race are Ace and even thought Rene is riding, I love Soldier Hollow. I like Cacique, but I am not going to get much value on him and I have him having an equal chance of winning with Ace and Soldier Hollow. So I will take the the two value plays.

NOTE: Dont be surpised to see The Tin Man go wire to wire.

Last year was not JV's fault, horse broke like **** and needed to be rushed up, I KNOW THE race all too well because I needed it for a $200 pick three ticket that I had 10 times. FRIGGIN RAT, he better redeem himself this year, or he will start getting SHANE LAVIOLLETE TYPE PAIN

maybe he needed to be rushed up some, but NOT ON THE LEAD. Needs to be a touch further back.

Definite rat...I don't know why they continue to race EC...

Scav 08-11-2006 10:10 AM

Should have retired him after the Secretariat last year, disgrace.

You have heard it here NOW. Gorella is a toss from my pick three ticket...will be included on the backside of my exacta ticket though

I know...he hasn't won crap this year...

Habersham000 08-11-2006 10:27 AM

scav why you tossing gorella? i don't think an extra half furlong with be a problem for her

Scav 08-11-2006 10:35 AM

Toss...

I like Proctor's horse alot. he never does something like this (huge step up) and her numbers are competitive. I am going to be betting that Guidry is going to try and save some ground and then push the button.

Using Honey, Rich and Film

I am really REALLY going to try and figure out where to strike with these pick threes, This card is HARD....If you have a serious bankroll you could quadruple it or be broke by the end of this day. All you need is one ticket to hit.

I am CONSIDERING right now an English Channel/All/Showing Up ticket for like $10....That might be my big ticket of the day

Scav 08-11-2006 10:36 AM

Oh, and reason I am tossing Gorella is that she is going to have to go awful wide in this race, and this might be one of the first races she has company in the back with a couple of these Euro's, going to have run the whole race, I am looking for a horse that will be sitting 4-5-6th and try to get first run. Proctor's horse is that horse

Scav 08-11-2006 10:44 AM

and I just saw that Joey K picked her, probably a complete toss now

There is no need for all this Gorella talk and debate about the Beverly D.

I'm telling you right now. Rising Cross is your winner

The weight break definitely helps her, but she is about 10 lengths slow of Film Maker, thorograph wise. RC top is a 7 and FM's is a 2...She is an exotic playa for me

Scurlogue Champ 08-11-2006 12:23 PM

Touch of Land
Better Talk Now
Cacique

You seriously think the best turf horse in America is gonna finish 5th in this rase???WOW

Scurlogue Champ 08-11-2006 12:27 PM

I sure do Kev. He won't be finishing very far off of them, and might get fifth by 1 1/2 lengths. But that is where I feel he will be.

ok bro...thats the beautiful thing about horse racing being parimutual...

anyways...best of luck in all your bets in every race tomorrow.

Scurlogue Champ 08-11-2006 12:49 PM

You can get a share of all of my money if your boy wins, and I'll gladly put it in the tote for you to collect when he crosses the line.

Why are you so confident in Rising Cross? I'm looking over her PP's and I'm just not getting it. Would like to know your reasoning if you don't mind.

Scav 08-11-2006 12:54 PM

your nuts Mood, only way that English channel finishs off the board here is a horrible or stupid ride by Johnny, which is like maybe 5% of the time(unlike Laviolette which is 94.6% of the time he rides like a moron)

EC is 2-3 lengths faster then everyone in this field besides Cacique. Cacique will get overplayed because of the Arlington idiots/Frankel/arabs and I personally feel he has distance questions at longer then 1 1/8...I know he won at 10 panels but that ride was a masterpiece and he was still getting tired at the end...

More to come later, I have some surprises for you folks, should make for an interesting day
