Spa Predictions 2009

There was an '07 Thread that had some good stuff.

Here are mine for '09:

$2+ ROI for these Trainer / Jockey Combos

Mike Hushion / John Velazquez

George Weaver / Javier Castellano

hockey2315 07-16-2009 07:03 PM

Eddie Kenneally will win every baby race he's entered in and Andy Serling will become the number one twitterer on the web.

:D

Sightseek 07-16-2009 07:17 PM

I will be sad to not be there!

A maiden by a first year stallion (probably by Rock Hard Ten because so many have a weird fascination with him) will be the hype horse of the meet.

The Whitney will either be won by Commentator - or a very slow horse.

funny hockey , no one wins all their starts you dope

he will win some

hockey2315 07-16-2009 07:46 PM

I won't be shocked if he wins a few. . . trainers change gears all the time - i.e. Zito w/ his babies a few years ago. I just need evidence of such a change first.

why , once you get the evidence isn't it too late?

if he puts over a couple in the 1st week of the meet , then when do you jump on the bandwagon week 2 , week 3 ?

hockey2315 07-16-2009 07:50 PM

Then what do you do? Blindly guess at who will all of a sudden change their training style? That sounds profitable.

steve created this board for horse players to share opinions , talk about the game , help each other out

i got word from 1st hand sourse that he likes what he has this year, now what does that mean , it may mean nothing he can be wrong and his stock may stink , he may be wrong because he maybe going against other monsters , but maybe this year is his year and he knows he is loaded

but what do stats from last year or the last 5 yrs have to do with his 2 yr olds in the barn this year ..... they are not part of his 3 for whatever the last 5 yrs....maybe just maybe they are all studs and he has them ready , problem is if the 1st couple run well and win and you pass because of stats from other years by the time you and the rest of the public jump in the price is no longer good later on in the meet

TheSpyder 07-16-2009 07:58 PM

saratoga predictions

Pmac, I predict that you will have success with your predictions. I further predict that there will be big irish guy at Clancys with a pocketful of money from track winnings, slits for eyes, singing Johnny River songs at an ungodly hour, sucking down pint size drinks.

Yeah that sh*t's about 1/9.

Aside from the pockets full of money part....

Travis Stone 07-16-2009 10:18 PM

I predict there will be 36 days of racing. Unless of course, there are not.

JerseyJ 07-16-2009 11:27 PM

Eddie Keneally won't win a single 2YO race at Saratoga.

jballscalls 07-17-2009 12:43 AM

I guess it all depends on who makes the statements Gales. Because it was you, its mocked. If it was someone else, it would probably be argued that maybe Eddie boy is sitting on some live horses. Thanks for the info. I hope it works out for you.

This one is confusing.

Do you mean a beef sandwich?

Do you mean a witch that lives in the sand? If so, I don't see him going down on something so crusty sounding.

I don't even want to guess what a whole beef version of a sand witch is, cause if it means what I think it means, I don't think he's into warlocks for that sort of activity either.

I would add to that humorless maybe as well.

I'm probably far more tired and challenged than you know, so I don't think that's an excuse for not having a sense of humor about a harmless typo and a harmless joke about it.

Coach Pants 07-17-2009 10:01 AM

Yeah going after hooves for one of his rare spelling errors was comedy gold.

Yeah, I know.

It was more about the imagery of Andy doing a sand witch. Less about making fun of Hooves.

Not that I was making fun of Andy. I want to make sure everyone is clear on that. I'd hate for anyone to get all twitted up about something like this.

DJARUM 07-17-2009 10:25 AM

Sunshine everyday, unconscious handicapping, great racing, drinks in one hand and the DRF in the other(and a Bar B Q sandwitch or cutie in the other? politically correct). Ah the Spppppppppppppaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Weaver/Velasquez hot trainer/jockey combo

Rachel will be the talk of the town
Andy will give out six straight pk4"s
BYK will hit everyday making everyone on Derby Trail a millionaire

It's not nice to make fun of Philski. :D

HaloWishingwell 07-17-2009 01:49 PM

Bill Mott will win on his birthday unless it's dark that day. Zayat will fire another trainer. None of you will get laid at the Spa.

Hickory Hill Hoff 07-18-2009 07:30 AM

It will be a "wild" first weekend and a very "dead" last week

declansharbor 07-20-2009 12:09 PM

Seth Benzel will pop a few nice prices at the meet. There's my 'on a limb'.

fantini33 07-20-2009 03:27 PM

Cagey Girl will wire an unsuspecting field at 22-1....again, maybe twice, and I won't be on board, either time.

Not much of a sample size, but I'll be keeping an eye on Jimmy Jerkens' turf runners at the spa.

His numbers during the current meet at Belmont are:

3/14 - 21% Win - 57% ITM - $4.31 ROI

Maybe he's changing tactics a bit. We'll see.
