I went thru about half the mares..Not the stock I would have thought he would have attracted.. A lot of unracd stuff, plenty of pedigree only stuff, not to many serious runners a few stakes winners and nothing that caught my eye as specifically high quality.. Powder Bowl Aztec Pearl WHOA!!

That doesn't seem to be too uncommon for lesser bred stallions.

Indian Charlie would be a great example of that. Not a single black type mare for the first 3-4 years he was at stud, and I'd say at least 75% of the mares sent to him either were unraced or never won a race.

I think he was or is at Lanes End and he was a beautiful horse and fairly fast standing for 40k. Seems his book should have been a bit stronger but I justed looked real quick perhaps I missed a bunch of nice ones?

Indian Charlie 06-28-2009 04:37 PM

I found one that's a half to YIT!

Indian Charlie 06-29-2009 02:52 PM

Just got his first winner, and it came in a stakes.

If you go to the Bloodhorse and Throughbred Times auction review part of their stallion register pages for Rock Hard Ten, you'll be able to get the mares for those offspring that went through the auction ring.

Bailey was on Eddington ... and the wildly premature inside move by Solis (I think) on RHT had more to do with softening up SJ than anything Bailey did in that race.

Rock Hard Ten had a nice debut winner in the 1st race today at Hollywood Park. The horse's name is Octogarian.

I was impressed with Rock Hard Ten's 2 year olds at the sales this year. They were really nice movers. I think RHT will do very well as a sire.

That was was reputed to be a runner. Didn't see the race yet but the time looks OK.

Good for them they need another horse..

I wouldn't expect much from RHT 2yo's. He took awhile to coordinate that body himself, so I'd expect them to be late bloomers.

Of course they do.:D

Long Lashes will be aimed at the UAE Guineas and UAE Oaks.

They actually looked surprisingly precocious. Don't get me wrong, they didn't look like 4 1/2 furlong horses but they were extremely coordinated and athletic. I bet they will do really well in the 2nd half of the year.

Rock Hard Ten had a very impressive 2 year old winner today at Woodbine in the 8th race. The horse's name is Bear's Hard Ten.

I knew that they bought him at the OBS Aril Sale for $85k. I didn't know his history before that. Which other sales did he sell at?

Travis Stone 10-03-2009 08:40 AM

Go here, and click on progeny... some, but not all, are in our database...

1k was the January 2008 Keeneland sale for horses of all ages.

15k was the August 2008 Fasig Tipton Texas yearling sale.

47k was the October 2008 Fasig Tipton Kentucky Fall yearling sale.

85k was the April 2009 OBS Spring 2yo sale.

Things are finally starting to pick up for RHT. He had another nice winner today in the 5th at Belmont. The horse's name is Krypton. He was a $170k RNA from the OBS March Sale.

Things had to start picking up for him sooner or later. His 2 year olds looked great at the sales.

I think it's his first turf winner in this country. In Europe, he had a stakes winner on the grass named Long Lashes.

I read on www.twitter.com/derbycontenders that RHT hits with 25% of his turf runners. I don't know how many have raced on the grass or if that is referring to them all over the world, but that makes me think this wasn't the first here.

It's definitely his first winner on the grass in the US. He has 3 winners in the US so far. They are Octogarian, Bear's Hard Ten, and Krypton.

The horse today (Krypton) has a lot of grass breeding on his bottom side. His dam (Freedom Reigns) was unraced but her dam (Mais Oui) was a grass horse in France and she has produced mainly grass runners.
