Wimbledon
James Blake out in the first round
No Raffa. Figured to be a good chance for the 2nd best American player to break through in a major. Not happening. What are the current odds of Federer pulling off the rare French-Wimbledon double in the same year? More likely or less likely than Coccoa Beach was winning yesterday? |
Great match going on (ESPN 2).
Roddick and Hewitt in the 5th set. Who could have predicted this run out of Hewitt? I hope he wins :D |
Or it could be fun to see Andy Murray humiliate Andy Roddick on Friday :D
Revolting how these US announcers like Patrick Mcenroe and Brad Gilbert kiss Roddick's ass. |

I dont think Roddick will win 1 set against Murray on Friday. Murray is a much better player, especially on grass. |

Raisin Bran, eh
Tend to agree with your assessment there, Gander Brit dude will be formidable on the home turf ... but The Great Swiss seems loose, relaxed, to be playing well, and has a golden opportunity to get past Sampras right now. In other words ... good luck, Andy... |
Serena needs breast reduction surgery.

Federer easily through to the final and will most likely meet Murray, who plays Roddick in a few minutes. Because of the early finish of the Fed match, ESPN is showing a replay of last year's Wimbledon final...do they ever get tired of showing this? I mean it was probably the greatest match ever, but they have shown this during coverage of every major since during rain delays and early ends of matches. Why not show the Pete-Andre US Open final from 2002? Or something different.
|
Were's the Andy-Andy match?
Is NBC joining it in progress at noon or are they going to tape delay it? Either way, watching last year's final while there is a LIVE semi-final match going on is a crock of ****. |
Can't interrupt 4 hours of The Today Show.
|
Roddick plays the match of his life. Great match!
|
Never saw it and glad I didnt.
I bet Federer is very happy to see Roddick win. Should make things a lot easier on Sunday. I think Federer had a losing record against Murray and I know he lost his last 4 to him. #15 is coming! |
They had it streaming.
Roddick played very smart tennis. Lots of little chips and subtle stuff, not just wacking away the entire time. |
F'n Roddick had him dead to rights. Should have been up 2-0. Instead Roger takes 6 points in a row and wins the set. Just as I actually started to believe that maybe, just maybe he could beat him. He s.hits the bed and lets Roger right back in the match.

I was wondering where the Roddick of last year was. He played the first 2 sets brilliantly, then at 6-2 in the tie break, the old Roddick came back. His head went.. If he can bounce back from this, it would be some achievement!! |
Is the Swiss Miss on the decline?
|
Wow, I honestly thought that Roddick was just going to lay down in the fourth. But he battled and they will go to the fifth. Either way I have a new found respect for Roddick.
|
This is the best match i have seen at wimbledon in forever.

The match with Murray was an indicator Roddick
is/was playing much smarter tennis. He is actually staying in points instead of his give away slugs. Good match. |
Really a thriller here!
|
is this really the best way to end a championship? totally boring watching 2 guys waiting for the other to just give up.....
|
It was boring watching Andy give up.
|
Probably best Nadal was injured.
The court this year was much more of a big hitters court than last year. Ball stayed much lower this year and skidded quickly compared to last year's bounce surface. Definitely a difference. Probably due to the heat. I dont think they cut the courts any differently. |

Long live The Great Swiss :tro: :$:

It was a great day in tennis. But they have to stop with the corny Tiger/Roger relationship. That only such greatness can relate to each other. Gimmee a break with the showing of Tiger taking a break from his practice swings to text Roger. As if Roger is going to check his cell phone for text messages...what are we 15 years old? I like both guys very much but this is out of hand. And when it comes to Tiger, nobody cares that he wins unless they are majors.
Roger played great, so did Andy. It was good to see. Roger got very lucky this Wimbledon and a little luck never hurts... -Nadal didnt play at all and has obviously had Fed's number. -Instead of playing Djokovich in the semis, he instead got Haas (who beat Djokovich in the quarters). Fed has struggled immensely against Djokovich. -Instead of playing Murray in the final, he instead got Roddick, who he owns a 19-2 advantage over in head to heads. Fed has a poor record against Murray in head to Heads, losing the last 4 meetings. -He got to serve first in the final set, and at Wimbledon, can not be decided in a tie breaker. Huge advantage. |
