U.S. Open

Looks like a soggy weekend. They just showed Tigers drive on #1, he ended up behind a hospitality tent. Getting out of that wet rough will make for some high scores.

SCUDSBROTHER 06-18-2009 09:00 AM

ESPN barely started their coverage, n' Tiger lets go with "OHHH...... GOD DAMN IT!!"

gales0678 06-18-2009 09:03 AM

double bogey on #5

could be the toughest par 4 in the world scuds , tight driving area, cross bunker down the right side , if you are too far left off the tee you get blocked from going for the greeen. once you get to the uphill green it's small and slopes severly back to front, anything long is death

Brother doesn't like cold, rain, or wind. Has to just survive today.

Hey Gales:

Arent you going to this?

I thought for sure you'd take one of those bunnies running around your office to see some golf this morning, then a trip to Belmont for the late Pick 4. Put on a jacket and join your buddy Carlos in the paddock?

You take her out for breakfast, then to Bethpage Black (not the horse, the course) to see Tiger and Phil, have some drinks, get in your call, hit belmont for the late races, then on to Don Pepes for some chicken parmesan and clams, then to that place in Manhattan that sells the $100 deserts. No problem for you Gales.

I doubt you'd be able to break 120 there today Gales. That is if you werent cheating and kicking your ball out from under a tree when no one is looking.
Those tee boxes are far back and they say not even Tiger can reach par 4's in 2 today. You'd need 4 shots to get on the green!

I agree. The greens they're showing look like lakes and the fairways are rivers. They're now saying 2pm, but from what I see, they'll be lucky to be able to restart it at about 4-5pm... if they're lucky.

with all the rain they've got forcasted for Sat/Sun... they might finish Tuesday.

philcski 06-18-2009 04:47 PM

My home course for 10 years and my absolute favorite course anywhere... hopefully the rain stops and they can play under reasonable conditions. Otherwise it'll be just too difficult, even for the US Open.

Mudders

Furyk, Curtis, Hart, Z Johnson, Perry?

I've never seen it rain this much in one day up here Pgard. It rained pretty steadily all day and then at about 4 it started pouring hard. It hasnt let up since. I cut my lawn last night and probably will have to again by the end of this weekend. Tonight its chicken parmesan, chocolate cake and in a few minutes the Belmont replays from today.

it was bad enough that at Belmont, the third race was called as the third regatta... LOL

gales0678 06-19-2009 07:28 AM

well the USGA blew folks - how in the world could they not give a rain check to the fans yesterday

this could be their dumbest decision ever , no reason not to refund the patrons or to let them come out on another day - a clueless decision made by some clueless suits

all the players have an obligation to speak out about this disaster , but tiger and phil have the largest microphones - please 1 of you 2 superstars speak up for the fans 1x please , if it's not for them you ain't playing for squat

Tiger and Phil were too busy chasing all those great horses who ran in the mud yesterday at Belmont. I heard Tiger needed "Titletown Tiger" for a huge score and wasnt too happy when the jockey put a strangle hold on him and took away any chance he may have had

Thats going to clearly affect any chance Tiger may have had at winning this year's open.

Gales, you bringing one of those bunnies in your office out to see some golf today? Then to the Party at the Park for some twiglight racing at Belmont? Then off to Manhattan for a late dinner then dancing all night?

Now they have updated their decision to make it Monday for a rain date, if play is continued on Monday. That still stinks.

We are under water restrictions...

I am actually siphoning water out of my washing machine onto the yard.
Luckily my washing machine is at a higher level than my yard.

BTW

Getting soapy water right down the throat into the lungs is unpleasant.
Maybe this can replace waterboarding.

maybe so by the letter of the law kev, but, not human decency

they made a bundle off the merchandising tent yesterday , the least they could do was refund the day's tickets , we're talking about 3hrs of golf that got in - a lot of marquee names didn't even get to the 1st tee!

they scrambled today and said thursday's tickets will be good for monday if there is a monday - nice pr job after the local meida rightly hammered them

herkhorse 06-20-2009 07:44 AM

Great to see david duval at -2, hope he can keep it going.

Marty- How can there possibly not be a Monday? Have you seen whats coming in today around 3pm? Its suppose to be so bad that this course wont be playable until mid-day tomorrow. We're talking being a full round and a half behind schedule. There may even be need for Tuesday play.

Barnes came out of nowhere to lead the tournament...:zz:

I suspect Tiger will shoot 60 something to get back into it, conditions look beneign right now.

I agree, they should however I'm sure the tickets have a disclaimer on them regarding inclimate weather. I think NBC mentioned it, I'm not sure it's Tiger's place to say anything, he has enough on his plate...same with Phil.

Tiger 2-chips like he did on the last hole again.... he's on a plane outta there because he's gonna get cut!
He's right on the cut line after 6.

He's struggling, but one thing about Tiger is he usually finds something when he is not playing well and before you know it he plays himself back into a tournament. I've never seen a player shoot more ugly 69's so to speak.

Gander 06-20-2009 11:34 AM

Its not playing like your typical US Open. So far a disappoinment. You dont see many scores like this (8 under) after 2 rounds at what is suppose to be traditionally the toughest tournament of the year. Kind of turning into your every week tournament.

2Hot4TV 06-21-2009 04:42 PM

Tiger Woods is starting to act like Happy Gilmore the way he's throwing his clubs around. The boy needs some shoooth.

Pulling hard for Duval. Would love to see a final round charge from him.
