Does Shug McGaughey have a string at Arlington or is he just making a weekend invasion?

My first instinct is to anchor EVERYTHING to Golden Mexico late and just go with others in the finale with very minor coverage.

Love him in that spot.

Especially because of all the love Giant Oak will get, could be a decent score, we'll see how hilarious the Arlington crowd can be

I thought the Guineas drew light. I was hoping for another strong field so it could get graded status, last year's field was dynamite, if I recall

Horses that Rene rides always get overbet no?

herkhorse 05-21-2009 06:52 AM

Man, I would love to get to AP for a card like that. :tro:

pretty much.
I am hoping the race gets some fan money. GM has some dull stuff in his paper form (slow works , slow bris speed rating, 12-1shot) and Giant Oak was validated/flattered by Musket Man's presence in the Kentucky Derby / Preakness.

See, and I thought the Guineas drew pretty well, all things considered.

Who else would have come for it? Laragh is the only one that could have added any real flair to it.

I think it's a really solid race -- should be a Grade III soon enough.

Excelente couldn't get by Cosequence, thus a $42 exacta

Scav 05-23-2009 05:30 PM

Douglas was just in a really bad fall as Theriot made him run up on a dead horses' heals.

Horse flipped over and landed on him, and on the head on, he wasn't moving....

Scary is about the right response. Theriot is going to be in trouble, both from Arlington and guessing other parties....

Bobby Fischer 05-23-2009 05:56 PM

price sucks for golden mejico

He needs some time off bigtime from that one. HRTV said Rene is talking some, but in a ton of pain (understandable from watching that). Hope he's not out long.

He was about to go on a tear also, he always gets 'hot' for the 2nd condition book, which is starting May 28th.

I agree. Wonder who Cooper will end up with if Rene's out for a while. He was supposed to have Rene and Jara. And since I know you know AP.. whomever has Cooper as their jock agent, wins the jock title and is always on a live mount.

Jara is still in Panama, my guess is that Cooper will ship someone in from somewhere

Bobby Fischer 05-23-2009 06:24 PM

that was so phoney

mena rode that horse like an idiot , there was no doubt he was going to quit the whole time. Even that cheap ass 1 was being held up in 2nd to stay off that pace.

the horse is running off like a maniac up front. and the track announcer says "he is CRUIS-ING" because of the numbers on the screen.

Have to watch that replay and hand time it. Either the fractions are way off or the track is slow as ****, because it said 113 and the horse was going much to fast early.

Here's the latest I found on Rene. No word I've seen on the horse.

Douglas, who was conscious and alert, was taken directly to Northwest Community Hospital after complaining of back pain and soreness in his neck. No further information is available on Douglas's condition at this time.

I was there for 2 races, some Simon runners were getting some schooling during the 2nd race paddock and was seeing the process. Red shirt, plaid shorts, and just woke up hair??

I'll be there tomorrow, come say Hi

South Beach Luv 05-24-2009 09:36 AM

A few pics the Mrs took yesterday:

She doesn't usually bet but knows how to, she told me she really liked this horse, I of course told her the 9 was a lock and didn't listen to her and only used the 7 underneath

Euphony

Will give you an idea on how small of a horse she is compared to Indescribable the 9

Kent up

That is a really good picture of Giant Oak

brianwspencer 05-24-2009 10:06 AM

Well, he hurt me a whole lot -- but I was really impressed with him...and he looks like a monster, you're right about that.

What a run. Very interested to see what he does next out when the waters presumably get deeper

How is the field going to be any different next out, if anything, it might be a short field because some of these horses showed up for that 'bonus' try....

might be a euro shipper or 2 (Weld normally ships for it, then stays for Secretariat).

Fantastic shot of Giant Oak!

I'm not a ferrier so I have to ask what are those on Giant Oak's feet? Bar Shoes? Anyone know a good website to see the different options they have?
