Hickory Hill Hoff 05-20-2009 03:43 PM

Wow..... 121 tops, but this is 2009

King Glorious 05-20-2009 03:47 PM

This is one of the main reasons why I like 3yos in this race. Now, getting one of those riders that can get that low is the next step but there's got to be a few right?

Sightseek 05-20-2009 03:52 PM

Scary to think that horses used to be so good my weight would have been assigned!

The Indomitable DrugS 05-20-2009 04:27 PM

There was a time not very long when Bejarano could make 109lbs .. probably still can.

Joe Talamo can also make 108lbs I believe. He's also beat Shug's horse a couple times. Maybe his agent can take a run at the Imperial Council mount.

NTamm1215 05-20-2009 04:33 PM

Bejarano can definitely make 109. I know Jorge Chavez would make it quite easily as well.

A year ago Mott legged up then apprentice Sebastian Morales on Z Humor so that he could make the weight.

I imagine Migliore rides a bit more than 109. Maybe K-Mac will opt for Maylan or Jackie Davis?

The Indomitable DrugS 05-20-2009 04:36 PM

No chance he rides someone like that.

It was a joke...maybe I should have used one of those icon things. I'm still reeling from being called a complete idiot and challenged to a handicapping contest by Kgar.

Kgar had been one of the posters who normally wears out my scroll wheel .. luckily I got a heads up and caught his geniusness.

I hate to say it, but aside from the Met, Monday's card is awful.

I heard Mr. Fantasy will not be playing his tune.

Mr. Fantasy out of Met Mile

By David Grening
Mr. Fantasy, the Grade 3 Withers winner, has been scratched out of Monday's Grade 1 Shadwell Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park due to a temperature, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said Sunday. Mr. Fantasy, one of two 3-year-olds entered in the race, will now try to make the Grade 2 Woody Stephens on June 6, McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin said Mr. Fantasy "wasn't acting quite right on the racetrack" Saturday morning and came back from his training session with a temperature of 102.

"He didn't have a good day," McLaughlin said. "We decided to take him out [of the race]. Hopefully, it's not a big enough issue where we have to miss the Woody Stephens. We'll point that way and hope for the best."

The scratch of Mr. Fantasy reduces the Met Mile field to 12 and takes one of the primary speed horses out of the race.

Mr. Fantasy has won 3 of 4 starts, highlighted by his 1 3/4-length victory in the Grade 3 Withers on April 25. That leaves Gotham runner-up Imperial Council as the lone 3-year-old in the field.

I really think Famous Patriot can get a slice of this race at an obscene price. He's a completely different horse around one turn.

NT

CSC 05-25-2009 08:20 AM

I hate favorites but Bribon looked awfully impressive in his last, what would be a fair price for him I wonder....Smooth Air might be of better value due to his non supertrainer/jock connections.

Mike 05-25-2009 08:29 AM

Driven by Success for me, too. The scratch of Mr Fantasy helps him, but the odds will be half the ml

One race earlier(the 9th), Straight Story will be my win bet and DD with Driven by Success

I thought he moved way too early and didn't look as good as many thought under the wire. If he moves that early in a race like this, I think he's in trouble.

I will have to take another look, though you are usually spot on so I will take that as a fact, from I remember it was a powerful move and it was off of a layoff, he may have not been tight for the race, he should have no fitness problems today. Now that Bogey has mentioned it, I was sort of intrigued by Riley Tucker's seemingly improved form under Baffert and off of Poly, may be worth a token longshot bet and an include in exotics.

Hickory Hill Hoff 05-25-2009 09:14 AM
