Only really bad fillies win the Black Eyed Susan.

(cue Phil in 3, 2...)

First race back for Mani Bhavan?

slotdirt 05-11-2009 02:02 PM

Has to be a Panty Raid reference.

NTamm1215 05-11-2009 02:03 PM

The Jim McKay and the other turf sprint remind me of when I asked a racing secretary why turf sprints were becoming popular and he said to me, "They ALWAYS fill."

I'm convinced you have a Sighty voo-doo doll cause the second I posted that I dumped water all over my chair and the Pleading I was working on.

Hmmm, it's not to far from me now....

Interesting, I was wondering if that thing was actually working. It's actually a Sightseek bobblehead.

I will be traveling by train and attending thanks to the generosity of a member of this board. My streak of Preakness attendances continues from 1997 to present. It's only 140 miles for you!

I love the turf sprint circuit, though I hate to see what ends up happening to horses like Mighty Beau.

Pedigree Ann 05-11-2009 06:41 PM

Since that day is my birthday, I expect all of the horses to run according to the way I think they will.:)

Danzig 05-12-2009 07:24 PM

hooh why will not run in the susan.

booner 05-12-2009 08:54 PM

Any info as to why she won't?

mclem0822 05-12-2009 09:09 PM

Will they still be having the Black Eyed Susan/Preakness DD? I hadn't heard it mentioned yet.

Hooh Why will sit out Black-Eyed Susan

Hooh Why, winner of the Ashland Stakes and the morning-line favorite for Friday's Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, won't be making the trip from Arlington Park to Pimlico, trainer Donna Dupuy said Tuesday.

Dupuy said that Hooh Why had been entered in the Black-Eyed Susan with the idea of running if the race appeared to be unusually weak for the class level.

"If it looked like it were a really soft spot, we might have taken a shot," said Dupuy, who trains Hooh Why for Derby Daze Farms and Mark Hoffman.

Hooh Why would have been making just her second dirt start had she come for the Black-Eyed Susan, and she may instead ship to Woodbine for a Polytrack stakes - the $150,000 La Lorgnette - scheduled for Sunday.

I've mentioned this on here before and got the same response. They have even blocked Throughbred Times and Bloodhorse, too.

But to look on the bright side, at least they haven't blocked Derby Trail. They let the best site slide by. :D

well, i found out the other day that the dipshit HR lady had the owners wife as one of her facebook friends...i had to ask my son how it worked, but apparently if someone is your 'friend' on there they get all your posts. so, she got a bunch of posts from the HR woman during work hours, and of course told her husband. so, an internet policy in the offing. i'm going to be pissed if they start shutting off sites. i work my ass off around here, and when i take a break-this is a place i visit.

swedejxn 05-14-2009 02:15 PM

looking at a couple prices here... The favorites should be in the mix in both races...

Race 11 heart ashley is the horse to beat... and I don't know about this spot for a return for Mani Bhavan... but I really think the #4 Cinderella's Wish has a good chance for a major piece of this....

Race 12 black eyed susan if hooh why runs... will be tough to beat... casanova move should be the winner should hooh opt for woodbine or elsewhere... and I expect dont forget gil to be flying at the end...
but the price I'm chasing is bon jovi girl.... has been in with the best and might be better than these... don't overlook payton d'oro on the bottom of your tickets either...

good luck this weekend...

She won't run or she won't run well? I doubt you'll see her much on real dirt. Casanova Move would've blown her away.

she won't be in the gate.

JerseyJ 05-14-2009 10:18 PM

Even if she is in the gate, Hooh Why has no chance to win anyway. Casanova Move is all right, but she doesn't exactly look like she has a penchant for winning. I think the Black Eyed Susan is a pretty simple race.

Thorse to beat is very much Don't Forget Gil who has shown the ability to finish and pass horses. She chased a pretty talented filly who was loose on the lead on a wet track last time in Dream Play. She has been very good since stretching out and ran a bang up race in the Florida Oaks. I will be suprised if Don't Forget Gil doesn't get the job done.

Underneath I would use Payton D'Oro, Stone Legacy, Casanova Move, and Renda who all look like they have some ability and can finish. Casanova Move is faster than the other three which is why she's a must use, but the other three can finish. Bon Jovi Girl ain't much and I'll be shocked if she hits the board in here.

In the Miss Preakness, if anyone is going to beat Heart Ashley or Mani Bhavan, it's going to be Gatorette who is probably better sprinting, and simply went too fast too early last time. Any horse who is a one dimensional speed horse is in trouble with Mani Bhavan in here. She could actually be loose here and if she is she's very dangerous. Bold Union was pretty bad last time and Stew Elliot is the perfect guy to work out a good trip from the rail for sure. No one else in here other than the top three and Bold Union on her best day have a race that's even remotely good enough to contend in here.

JJP 05-14-2009 11:26 PM

Heart Ashley will be overbet. In her last race, the expected speeds didn't break well and she inherited the lead. She may win but it will be as an underlay.
