Rachel Alexandra sale pending; Preakness possible?

News might already be out...

Echo Farm 05-06-2009 04:10 PM

Rachel Alexandra to the Preakness?

http://www.drf.com/news/article/103544.html

A transfer of Rachel Alexandra would raise the possibility of the filly being supplemented for a $100,000 fee to the next jewel of the Triple Crown, the May 16 Preakness at Pimlico. The filly was not nominated to the Triple Crown, and her breeder and co-owner, Dolph Morrison, was adamant in the wake of her Oaks victory that she would not be supplemented to the Preakness or June 6 Belmont Stakes.

slotdirt 05-06-2009 04:13 PM

That would be pretty crappy.

good for the connections though... I bet the money is real nice, for a FILLY! (i'd sell her probably)

Oaklawnfan 05-06-2009 04:19 PM

TVG reporting that Jess Jackson is negotiating to buy her for 10 million.

TheSpyder 05-06-2009 04:20 PM

Why in the world would anyone think of selling? Root, need to chime in here....

10 million reasons

tector 05-06-2009 04:23 PM

I am ready to puke.

Assmuffin--Jesus.

I don't begrudge anyone cashing out per se, but I don't have to like the result afterward. And I won't, if this hold up.

WOW.... I'd go to the barn... give her a big hug and kisses... maybe some carrots and peppermints... pet her for like 10 minutes and say THANKS GIRL!!! then get the lead rope...

10 million for a FILLY... unreal... especially in this market.

I just wish they would keep her with Wiggins..

TheSpyder 05-06-2009 04:31 PM

Don't they make more holding on to her and racing for a year & then selling?

No chance. Sell now.

She is a special special filly. I almost couldn't believe my eyes last Friday- but $10 million is a LOT of money, more than any filly has ever sold for as far as I know.

Scav can ride her and she'll win by 10 on that track LOL

GBBob 05-06-2009 04:41 PM

If that is really the number, you HAVE to do it

Does Assmussen ever use Borel? Borel may not have his choice of horses.

So which one is the Satan That Has Ruined Horse Racing?

Morrison and Lauffer for selling, or Jess Jackson for buying?

You can't "blame" them for selling--but neither do you have to be happy about it, either.

God, I hate Assmuffin.

Hard to criticize anyone for taking $10 million. Who would have thought that Borel would be in this position? Do you take the Derby winner or the most likely winner of the Preakness and kill a chance for a Triple Crown?

I would take the one who he said was the best horse he's ever ridden. Do you really want to lose the mount on her for Mine that Bird??

It aint for selling, 10 millie is amazing, that is set your family up for 25 years type money.

It is Asmussen getting this horse, hate that guy. Pompous jerkoff

Can't see how that's ever happened if the Derby winner ran in the Preakness.

Two massive egos. They may think they can win with anybody aboard.
