Belmont's 6th, state bred first level allowance looks interesting. I'll go with a win bet on Eldorado

I like him but I love May Day Now. the 1 had a absolutely terrible trip last time, still won and is well bred for the slop. It is a tough call though between the two. I used both in the pic 6 play.

TheSpyder 05-03-2009 02:22 PM

I think the 8, Fire Marshall might upset if he likes the surface. Didn't like the inner and shows a liking to the off track. Of course as we learned in the Derby all off tracks are not the same.

Arlington soft turf, 7th race, exacta box of General Charley/Wild Rally

Calder's 8th, a nice looking little 32,000 cliamer for 3yo fillies on grass, the #4 Runaway Heart has excelled at Calder for this trainer, though this is 1st time grass

You are kidding right? He wasn't even close in the 6th, 7th and 8th. I know he's a good capper but he is not having a good day today. Neither am I but a tad better than him today anyway.

Actually I'm not kidding.. It was a 10.00 horse and it was a good call. I could give 2 shits about his calls in the 6th-7th and 8th. Maybe your bad day is getting to you.

pmacdaddy 05-03-2009 05:09 PM

I'm shocked someone had 6 / 6 at Belmont.

I don't need accolades here, but I certainly don't need stupidity like you just spewed. Not having a good day? I gave out four winners on top ( in only eight races as two came off so late that our picks were negated ). I gave out the early and late doubles cold. When I discussed the first race prior to post, I said given the odds on Windication, he was the play, and to press him underneath the favorite ( and winner )....the exacta paid $32.

Wow, I didn't have the two 15:1 shots ( that won the 6th and 8th ) but I did point out the foolishness of falling for the supposed " rough trip " your chalky selection had in the 6th. I also made it clear that the co-favorite in that race had little to no shot ( you, on the other hand, used him as one of two horses ). In the 7th, where I apparently didn't have a clue, I surely discussed the $13 winner as one with a decent chance.

Should I come here and blow my own horn when I make good selections? No. But I certainly don't need absurd comments like you made.

Thanks. I hope it made up for my apparent horrendous opinion today.

I didnt listen today Andy, but did you give Dutrow's horse any chance in the
9th? I liked her quite a bit off the long layoff today but she never got a breather and quit real bad.

Funny story about yesterday. I lost every race I played at Belmont all day long yesterday and coming to the 10th, being as superstitious as I am, I told everyone at my table it was Jon Imbriale's race calls that were getting me beat, and that if we watch the race with no sound, I would finally win. I loved Clement's first time turfer, and oddly enough I finally cashed. I thought he was beaten by the 10, a horse my good friend sitting next to me liked and played WP and with the Clement horse in the exacta, but luckily for me anyways, was able to sustain his bid and outkick the 10. I cashed a win bet, but missed out on all the picks and double because Operation Red Dawn couldnt get it done.

We all thought the 1-10 exacta came back very light ($622 for $2) for a 9-1 on top of a 57/1 in a big field. I didnt have it so it didnt matter to me, but I would think that would be more in the range of $1,000-$1,200?

3kings 05-03-2009 07:04 PM

Andy, I for one glanced at your picks after I handicapped races 1-3. Since I had many horses in common, I was confident enough to thin my ticket and increase my wager. I also added the 7 (El Tajin) in the 3rd race, after initially excluding him, which enabled me to hit the ex and tri, so thank you.

If you bet each of Andy's Top selections to win today you would have doubled your money.

What a blood bath...

Thanks. After a mediocre run the last six to eight weeks at Aqueduct, I had a strong opening week at Belmont. Here's hoping it continues.
