Friesan Fire excuse?

Friesan Fire was severely compromised by getting stepped on coming out of the gate. Though he raced in seventh position and in the clear down the backside, he backed up around the far turn under Gabriel Saez. Friesan Fire came back to the unsaddling area with blood emanating from his left front foot. He had part of his left front foot ripped off, known as grabbing a quarter.

"He got hit real bad leaving the gate," Jones said as he walked back to the barn. "He's bleeding. If you see blood on the track, it's his."

PPerfectfan 05-02-2009 11:56 PM

I know alot of people will say the layoff did him in, but this kind of injury is painful and will make a horse not run. Man, I feel bad for Larry Jones, I wanted him to win bad.

lord007 05-03-2009 10:35 AM

Yes he got shredded even had a cut on his ear not to mention his legs....

Your talking about Fresian Fire or Ricky Hatton???

the_fat_man 05-03-2009 10:38 AM

It was all good when this PLUG was getting perfect trips and winning. Sucks when **** doesn't go ALL your own way sometimes.

Anyone who bet this horse should be required to read all the literature out there on the BOUNCE.

Pedigree Ann 05-03-2009 10:50 AM

Have a couple toenails ripped off and see how well YOU run. Even with adrenalin running strongly, the pain starts to get to you soon enough.

Ya it didnt go the way they wanted for the other 18 either. You are talking about a BOUNCE with a horse who got slashed and bled. Now really

HaloWishingwell 05-03-2009 04:39 PM

the horse was shot when he was given seven weeks off and then suddenly given a ridiculous 5f blowout right before the Derby that he came back tired from. He never recovered from that and just quit. It was questionable for HARD SPUN and he looked good until the final furlong. FF wasn't as good as HARD SPUN and what works for one horse doesn't necessarily works for all.

Is this just your best guess from the information given, or was this information given out by the Larry Jones camp?

It sounds like you are saying it as fact, when in reality you are bullshitting (unless you have an inside source of information).

You are getting more retarded by the day.

Your theories about drafting being more than adequate compensation for taking up and have nowhere to run is one thing, but this is an entirely new level up dumbness.

I now rank you as the most ludicrous poster on here. You are now ahead of even SDJCOM (who has greatly improved) and RB.

I think you are starting to make PG1985 look like a genius.

He'll win The Belmont easily if he sits out the Preakness.

Jones will blow him out 3f in 33 right before the race since he figures it worked for RISEN STAR.

and then LARRY F'n JONES will dress up like Papa Clem again and knock the **** out of him? :D

HaloWishingwell 05-04-2009 09:58 PM

I love these bullshit injuries to cover up bad performances. After that rodeo to the first turn quite a few get their bumps and bruises but keep performing.

I personally don't think it's BS. The horse was slammed at the start which hurt his chances of getting to the front of the field. He's a horse that needs to be near the front. He didn't get there and probably didn't respond well to the dirt/mud in the face. Not to mention the grabbed quarter.

Bobby Fischer 05-04-2009 10:12 PM

Friesan Fire Green Cap, Green Blinkers/Hood

#7 Papa Clem(yellow cap) bumps Friesan Fire out of the gate possibly stepping on his right front and definitely knocking him to our right.

As a result of the collision with Papa Clem, Friesan Fire was probably kicked about here by #5 Hold Me Back(white blaze). Larry Jones said that the horse was bleeding on his LEFT FRONT HOOVE.
If this is the actual Hoove to Hoove impact, i was lucky, - it could have been from Papa Clem directly, or any of the frames around here or a few frames later when the traffic bunches, or in the gate...

So he grabbed a quarter and he is probable for The Preakness? Or is that just internet crap?

Why? Do you not believe that he could have grabbed a quarter? Do you even acknowledge that he encountered trouble at the start, that led to his poor performance? Or do you think it's the trainer just coming up with excuses why his horse ran so poorly?
As far as the Preakness goes, I personally think that there is no shot of him running there.

It seems like an axe to grind with Jones. Similar to Fat Man's quickness to jump into the "I told you he never had encountered trouble" role...

I must really suck(come on guys slow morning and that was a hell of a setup),

... but I am just now getting a grasp of all these trips from the derby.
Overhead cam , headon cam and pan angles not withstandind.

Today's New York paper either the Post or Daily News lists him as probable. So either the injury was extremely minor or they don't give a crap about the horse. After last year's tragedy with EIGHT BELLES I doubt they would do wrong by the horse. So it looks like he got some interference that hampered his start but not unlike many go through in that race. So maybe he wasn't as good as people thought. needs to be in the clear away from dirt or slop hitting him or left his race in the barn with the layoff and fast work.

EDIT ALERT.......Here's The NY Post link...http://www.nypost.com/seven/05052009...ess_167722.htm
