Oaks/Derby Double

I always seem to hit this bet and think it goes over looked as a great payday wager that is usually not too hard. The last two were actually easy and still paid very well. Off we go.:$: :$:

Clip-Clop 04-29-2009 05:44 PM

My picks

1,6 with 3,6,12,13

Why not...it still paid with Rags/SS $23.80 and it still paid with PS/Big Brown $37.80 and $890.20 with Barbaro/Lemons Forever??

arizonadave 04-29-2009 07:49 PM

dont forget the Oaks-woodford-derby Pick3, a new bet this year.

Clip-Clop 04-30-2009 10:47 AM

PK-3

Everyone gets Einstein for the woodford.

Clip-Clop 04-30-2009 11:01 AM

Einstein

He's never been "very beatable". Pitts says he is kicking the walls down! He might get beat but if you got to take a stand somewhere I stand with Einstein.

I agree regarding Einstein, he beat Commentator in the Clark who is very much on the downside of his career as shown by his performane in the CT race, and he won a weak gr.1 race out west that basically illustrates how weak the older division is, for his projected odds he won't pack much punch. Obcourse he can win but isn't this game about beating obvious underlaid choices?

Clip-Clop 04-30-2009 11:33 AM

Never said unbeatable. Just not "very beatable". I am a big Einstein fan. Worked out last year. Who's gonna beat him?

RE the Oaks...I also thought that Lemon's Forever did not have a shot, but included her(for my wife) and cashed that double with Barbaro 2x. Tweeters last race looked good to me and RA well, you never know...they have to make it around the track first.

I thought it was about winning money and being right. I like debate though and have an open mind. I try to beat many choices throughout my time, just think the best horse usually wins.

LOL. It's the PG1985 Derby exacta a year later.

Court Vision looks good coming in. Good luck with that. How about the rest of the PK-3?

Clip-Clop 04-30-2009 11:45 AM

SOFT

If it stays wet there, Proudinsky does become my top choice.

I'll take most money over most winners anyday.

hockey2315 04-30-2009 11:57 AM

Zambezi Sun looks interesting to me. . . I think you can excuse his first two in the states and his European form trounces these. . . Just not sure about the distance. . .

Hard to have one without the others. "Betting to place is like kissing your sister, betting to show is like kissing your brother."

Zambesi Sun has been a major dissapointment since coming over, he should be a great price assuming Frankel doesn't scratch him, maybe he's finally figured him out. I think he's interesting.

Where is that bet availible at? Where's the best place to access the wagering menu? I've looked at KD.com not finding it yet.

I don't think it's a reach at all. I actually like him in here- I was just laughing at the fact taht its the PG1985 exacta :o

TheSpyder 04-30-2009 12:01 PM

I agree, think he's sitting on a big race.

Looking at Court Vision, I just noted that he's picking up a LOT of weight from his last few races. Not something I normally get too worried about but given the expected softer turf it could be an issue.

Also, if Maker can make another move-up with Furthest Land, he's got a shot in here at a monster price. I may just bet him straight.

Gander 04-30-2009 06:38 PM

I'm hoping Zambezi Sun takes more money than the other Frankel (Proudinski) and I think theres a good chance they will be a lot closer in odds than their morning lines dictate. Juddmonte horses usually get bet off the charts and for the life of me I dont see anything in this horse from his last 2 that would put him in the hunt here... hes going shorter and facing better horses on Saturday. He will be a better price than he was in his last two, but I dont see him hitting the exacta. I also dont like Einstein in here coming off the poly in what was an excellent race but against turf horses running on the poly. I dont care what his price is, I am chucking him. Hes beaten me before but I dare him to again!

Proudinski should be just off the lead of Cowboy Cal, maybe even on it if no one else goes. This distance is perfect for him and while hes shown to be really good on a wet turf, I love him on dry & wet in this race. I can see him and Cal running 1-2 around the track. Those are the two I'd use in a pick and a small exacta box.

Court Vision has crushed me before and may do it again but letting him beat me in here. I dont see this race setting up for his huge close and his price wont be all that inviting.

Proudinsky is the pick in the mush, but Einstein is still going to be tough to beat.

Rachel Alexandra, Justwhistledixie / I Want Revenge
&
Rachel Alexandra / I Want Revenge, Pioneerof the Nile

I usually wouldn't play an all-chalk double, but there might be value here because many seem to like others in the Derby. I still think Justwhistledixie has an outside shot here, and if she does win, it should pay well given how many people will single RA.
If it is RA and IWR (which seems quite probable), at least I'll have it twice.

Bets like yours are the reason I posted the payouts here for the last few. It always pays pretty good.:$:
