John White POTN Count

Four minutes in:

POTN: 7 times mentioned
"him" : 2 times mentioned
Triple Crown: Once

SuffolkGirl 04-28-2009 05:06 PM

Ha Ha - I was just about to post something about this! I really think he is in on the joke and intentionally trying to mention him as often as possible. He came out swinging!!

TheSpyder 04-28-2009 05:12 PM

:zz: :zz: :zz: I can't listen to him anymore until POTN loses. I think he's up to 13 in 10 minutes, wait he mentioned him twice since I started writing, 15

ninetoone 04-28-2009 05:14 PM

Does it count when he calls POTN "Point Given" by mistake?

ateamstupid 04-28-2009 05:16 PM

I think after POTN runs up the track on Saturday, next Tuesday's JW segment will be the most listened to segment in ATR history. I know I'll be tuned in.

pointman 04-28-2009 05:30 PM

I lost track in the first five minutes, insufferable!

I had to turn it off after about 2 1/2 minutes, I couldn't take it anymore. Is it safe to tune back in?

Absolutely, Andy Serling is on now.

John White

Guys and Gals, i know i'm in the minority here but i think John is right-on with his picks.Garrett Gomez, and his agent both decided Potn over Dunkirk, with the supposely upside in dunkirk's favor, they must know something to take this choice for GG's first Derby Win.

i think you're giving the jock and his agent too much credit. if GG was that good at picking his ride, he'd have won a derby before now....

we've all seen jocks go one way rather than another-how often are they right? i'm thinking garrett went with the trainer he will deal with more often throughout the year...and don't forget where this years bc is located-or which horse has shown an affinity for that surface.

I gave up at the same time. He doesn't even pause to take a breath

Its not the pick I can't stand........Its the five minute run-on sentence professing his love for POTN. Until this man crush started I really enjoyed JW's segments.

I will admit he's a little over the top with POTN, but he gives so many points on other horses it does make you think , and he seems to always have thought out any opinions he has right or wrong and compares them to picks or races similar in the past he has made or watched,i love the guy, and when my wife is with me out on a trip she loves him, his soft-spoken voice puts her to sleep ..lol

To each his own. Genius is a word that's tossed around quite a bit these days.

You don't think the ATR segment will be the most listened to?

Sightseek 04-28-2009 08:43 PM

Pioneer is on the top of my list of horses I want to lose without an excuse list.

stonegossard 04-28-2009 10:17 PM

I used to actually be able to watch Jon White on HRTV before today. After listening to his POTN rant today I now plan on muting him. His love for POTN is one thing, but some of his resaoning is borderline insane. He lost me right away with his "I expect POTN to have a serious shot at winning the triple crown". To say that a slow horse who has never ran on the dirt has a "huge shot" at something like the triple crown is hysterical. His comparisons of Point Given to Pioneer of the Nile are useless. PG ran on dirt. Someone needs to expalin this to White.

MISTERGEE 04-29-2009 10:04 AM

12 of the 20 horses in the race have 2 strikes or less, so go ahead and box those 12 in a super. I think thats only $11,880. I like to keep track of how many time he says ---to me---. by the way I really like the guy.

Normally Steve has to ask two questions of Jon to complete the segment. I really think he will just need to introduce him next Tuesday, get up, go get a cup of coffee, check his on-line account, do quick work on a late DD, respond to a few e-mails, and the 15 minutes will be filled.:D

the problem isn't jon white. it's not his opinion on POTN. the problem is that we listen to these guys day in, day out-and they on the other hand think they're talking to a new audience at every interview. white knows a lot, can teach a lot. we just don't like to hear the same thing over and over, on any subject.

I am really looking forward to watching POTN run a BSF of about 98 and lose by about 12 lengths

dagolfer33 04-29-2009 02:45 PM

You are dead right. What I would more like the experts like White to focus on is who he thinks will make it to the finish line along with his beloved POTN. I think in everyones mind they already have either a top horse, or some underlings selected and are trying to figure how they are going to organize their bets. But just listening to JW would make me want to throw POTN out of any of my picks.
