Listening to Hank Goldberg is almost as bad as lacrosse

Merlinsky 04-11-2009 05:25 PM

Tell me about it, I missed the first 5 minutes trying to figure out where the heck ESPN Classic was on my digital cable channels. They've switched back over now. Technically they didn't not cover the racing, they just did it in typical screwball fashion. I did manage to get traumatized by Hank singing New York, New York. Still shuddering.

Listening to Hank Goldberg is everyone's lacrosse to bear.

Linny 04-11-2009 05:36 PM

They missed the first 15 minutes and just popped in, mid sentence, referring to the Blue Grass that they had not shown us!

King Glorious 04-11-2009 05:37 PM

They will be showing the race. What is the problem? Are you really that upset that you missed the first few minutes of talking? Hell, I wished the game had gone longer so I wouldn't have had to hear Jones talking about Eight Belles yet again. I was wishing I could have made the lacrosse match go to overtime like they do on that beer commercial.

Indian Charlie 04-11-2009 05:45 PM

My prediction when I saw that KG was the most recent poster in this thread was that he was going to argue that lacrosse fans would say the same thing about racing coverage causing them to miss a lacrosse game.

His actual post was far better though.

cowgirlintexas 04-11-2009 06:00 PM

Quick craw fishing on Baileys comment...."I think he will collapse in the stretch.. I mean not collapse but back up..".... In reference to Old Fashioned....:D

It's just the lack of respect that they give this sport . What happened today, is a normal occurrence for ESPN. Very typical.

I was especially intrigued by the Duke coaches strategy speech up 5 with 1:33 to go. Something about a keg party with hookers tonight if they hang on...

2MinsToPost 04-11-2009 06:17 PM

espn classic showed the full coverage, read the bottom line next time

prozac fyi, chill

Ouch...Remember those guys were acquitted.

Cannon Shell 04-11-2009 06:20 PM

I was disappointed that we didn't get to hear Larry Jones cry about the ride after the race first hand. What exactly did he think was going to happen? Tell me again why everyone loves this guy?

'my hat!!' probably sounded like george clooney in oh brother where art thou. 'my hair'

sumitas 04-11-2009 07:44 PM

and he caught it . great catch . thought it would be in ESPN's diamond dozen for the week .

I can't stand lacrosse cuz i can't see the ball .

HaloWishingwell 04-11-2009 07:49 PM

Might as well let Animal Planet shows races. Maybe we'll miss some coverage due to extended coverage of hippo sex.

BTW, one of the best college lacrosse players of his era was the immortal #32 Jim Brown...

off camera whining. Like Thompson had much of a choice? What was he supposed to do when Papa Clem broke poorly? Sit 5 wide around the turn? After the first quarter the fractions were pretty reasonable.

Thompson even said in the post parade interview with Bailey that he was either going to be on the lead or near depending on Papa Clem and he was glad he was to the inside so he could make that decision right away, which he did. Bad news is the horse was hurt, good news is they don't have to find another rider to get run down in the stretch because the horse can't get the distance.
