It is a top basketball program. I would rather have a younger guy than a confirmed mediocrity

I actually like Floyd. He did some good things before coming to USC and when he got there, he was able to make the program pretty respectable. I think he'll do a great job at Arizona and I don't think the move is a lateral one as some on ESPN have been saying. Arizona is a step up from USC.

The only thing that made the program respectable was being in Southern California where an orangutan could get good recruits. Floyd didn't even recruit OJ Mayo, Mayo just decided he wanted to go there on his own.

It's a top basketball program because of Lute.

This was a terrible hire and a dumb move by Floyd. He had it made at a football school.

I'll bet you're on pins and needles hoping that Floyd brings along the warmth and personality of Jerry Krause to help with the sensitive recruiting at the ol' alma mater.

If ya ask me, USC didn't look very highly coached when they played Michigan State. Looked like a bunch of brothers putting up mainly bricks. Guy (who talks like a Puerto Rican) couldn't hit the ocean, but was allowed to keep tossing those bricks up.

Last coach to take USC to back to back NCAA Tourneys next coaching stint was with the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA.

He wishes he was as good as Hank.... and that's really saying something, as Hank's piggybank on ESPN's been broke, how many gazillion times?

Couldn't you have gotten Majerus after last season? All he would need is a mil a year, and a room at the Sheraton.

This is partly true but not completely. You would think that being in a major market like Southern California would make recruiting easy. You would think that the weather, the fact that LA is a major media center, the fact that they play in a major conference....these things would make it automatic. I thought the same thing about schools like Arizona, Miami, Georgia Tech, and Texas (although Austin isn't quite a major city). But for some reason, they aren't always sought after. Mayo could have gone to UCLA and still had everything USC offered but in a higher profile program. Part of the reason he went to USC was because of Floyd. Floyd has experience in the NBA and Mayo, as well as the Sidney kid that is thinking about coming in, expressed that as a big selling point. USC has always been in Southern California and that wasn't enough to get kids like Mayo and Sidney.
