The funniest thing about looking at Keeneland is that the maiden and non-turf allowance races are all completely dominated by turf horses.

Except for Brother Keith......who Frankel keeps racing on synthetics. I wonder whose call that is. Really strange. He's a smart guy and the horse ran OK in its debut on the dirt.

It would be nice if they wrote a maiden race on the turf, but I guess some would claim they actually do.

blackthroatedwind 03-31-2009 02:43 PM

I have never seen a maiden race on the turf at Keeneland.

3/5 for $30k at HAW or 5-1 for $50k at KEE is quite a conundrum if they actually did write MDN turf races.

I didn't know if that had started after the artificial was installed or if it was that way in the dirt days too....interesting

Stickney in April is better than Paris..

If it wasn't a maiden, I'd vote KEE, but I'd run for nothing to break his maiden

Looks like crappy weather (54 and cloudy/ 30% chance of rain), but I might have to make the trip anyway. After all, it is Keeneland; I love it there rain or shine!! :D

Booking my room for the tuesday/weds/thurs after Easter Sunday either tomorrow or Thursday. Gonna take in some Horse Farms Tuesday upon arrival and then lights out at the track Weds and Thur. I talked to a guy today who said Georgetown is the place to stay and is an easy drive after the races, little traffic. Said hotels should be reasonable, anyone got any insight?

Yes georgetown is only 20 miles from track, also ky hpark is near there' motels hotels and resturants @ about exit 125-129 on i-75 exit 115 is the keeneland exit off i-75, take it west to new circle rd go west 4 miles to us 60 west go west 2 miles to track, across from airport. the scenic route is exit before us60 which is old frankfort pike takes you around the farms and dumps you in the back entrance by the horse barns can park around there and walk thru barn area to track. will usually see trainers and owners around along with horses
