The 30/1 on Happy Boy looks good to me. Go Ahmad Ajtebi go!

The fact that they're giving $6,000,000 away to this group of woodchucks makes me want to commit hari kiri.

Why is the Godolphin Mile 10 furlongs?

More importantly, how is 1600 meters about 10 furlongs?

ArlJim78 03-25-2009 05:02 PM

you have to do a double take on the dirt races, when you compare the purse and the field. Indian Blessing might embarrass that bunch.
Albertus Maximus morning line favorite for the World Cup??

Has Indian Blessing raced with lasix in the states?

I don't think it's as straight forward as many think.

Its a shocking World Cup field, 13 of the 14 runners (Anak Nakal the exception) are rated between 113 and 119. Anything could win this..

And does anyone know why the title of the races is :

DUBAI WORLD CUP SPONSORED BY DUBAI WORLD CUP??

Scurlogue Champ 03-25-2009 06:58 PM

PP's

Then I guess we have our winner.

Not without drugs, I won't be. I'm assuming it's had everything in the States? The draw is usually a key issue in the sprint, and I've not had chance to really look at that yet.

A few decent sprinters in there, won't be easy against horses used to the conditions.

The Indomitable DrugS 03-26-2009 05:23 PM

Without drugs?

Please, our sprinters go over there and win that joke of a race every year. Look at the last five winners of the race...

* '08 Benny the Bull over Idiot Proof

* '07 The moderate Kelly's Landing over the moderate Friendly Island

* '06 The moderate Proud Tower Too over the moderate Thor's Echo

* '05 the moderate Saratoga County won

* '04 the moderate Our New Recruit over the moderate Alke

I see they named Prado on Indian Blessing ... about the last big name rider you ever want to see named on speed. Still shouldn't matter. As long as they don't install a synthetic surface like Santa Anita has in the next two days .. she will win with disdainful ease.

Travis Stone 03-26-2009 08:00 PM

Such insane amounts of money being given away... and when Meydan opens, it could be more!

I agree with you on everything else but do you actually have a list of what jockeys should be on speed in straightaway sprint races? If so, I'm very impressed.

Diabolical

If he runs like he did in th BC Sprint he will smoke this group. Making it look easy. :tro:

RACE 2
GODOLPHIN MILE
1600M(a8F) Dirt (TB)
Jockey
Al Morhij - Ryan Moore

RACE 3
UAE DERBY
1800M(a9F) Dirt (TB)
Jockey
Lelah Dorak - Edgar Prado

The Indomitable DrugS 03-27-2009 05:26 PM

I steadfastly maintain Happy Boy isn't a bum.

Even though he got hurt after his one monster win over the track last year .. which was very legit ... and Godolphin bought him and tried to ruin him by sending him to Europe.

He's actually run a couple of half way decent races in a row and his form is starting to come back from the grave. 30/1 on the ML .. and there is no way in hell anyone's finding that horse appealing besides me. I'm going to be a rich man after they run that race.

Mike 03-27-2009 05:52 PM

Casino Drive like dirt and should like the sloppy the track that is all but guaranteed. His early Beyer of 102 and most recent Post rating of 120 put him as high if not higher in both those categories, considering his brevity of races and potential room for continued improvement
Still, I may box him with My Indy

hope it pays good... I'm considering the exact same box.

Godolphin's first win on Dubai World Cup night since 2006. Could be a great night for them!

santana 03-28-2009 08:55 AM

I am looking for a big win by DESERT PARTY here...just to possibly make the KY Derby that much more interesting....

brockguy 03-28-2009 09:24 AM

2 Derby horses for Godolphin? both absolutely miles clear of the 3rd..

Travis Stone 03-28-2009 09:29 AM

I have always thought Desert Party was good, but overrated.

Anyone remember last year on AM Saratoga when Kiaran McLaughin said Regal Ranson who had yet to start was "his best 2-year-old?"

ntamm1215 and I drafted him in our fantasy stable based off that only to watch him tank out west. And of course today, I have zero on his nose to win.

ArlJim78 03-28-2009 09:32 AM

lets hope they both run in the derby.

They will.

Desert Party will be 22-1.
Regal Ransom will be 35-1.

SCUDSBROTHER 03-28-2009 09:53 AM

Did the announcer continue to call Gayego "Gay Ego" in the GODOLPHIN MILE? They showed his sprint win there, and he kept calling him that all the way to the wire.

brockguy 03-28-2009 10:01 AM

Brilliant from former US sprinter Big City Man. I love this guy, watch out for the nice tackle he does mid race to the horse on his right!!

Travis Stone 03-28-2009 10:11 AM

Congrats to LAD regular rider Jose Verenzuela as well!!!

The Indomitable DrugS 03-28-2009 10:17 AM

Edgar Prado put on his typical masterpiece on Indian Blessing. Even though his numbers are mind-bogglingly bad with speed sprinters ... he's normally a very good gate rider ... he got IB totally left at the start and had to rush up the outside fense on a track that has been looking pretty kind to the inside.

He's about the only rider in the country skilled enough to suck the life out of Fabulous Strike and get him to run a 65 pace figure going 7fs after a good break. Clever move by Baffert naming him.

Isn't Alexandros being forgotten here in the 5th?
