Dubai Duty Free
This race will be the best quality race for all of 2009.
Its about time this race (and the Sheema Classic) got equal billing with the World Cup! |
The World Cup is dreadful this year.
|
The Duty Free will be a terrific race. It will not break my heart to see Kip Deville beaten handily at all.

Who are the good horses running?

Wasn't Paco Boy the horse who completely ran off with the Prix De La Foret? Has he run since? That was a huge effort.
Kip Deville will get completely smoked. |

10 G1 winners (Archipenko, Creachadoir, Hyperbaric, Jay Peg x4, Kip Devile x4, Lady Marian, Niconero x5, Paco Boy, Tuesday Joy x4, Vodka x4) Throw in the potential monsters Prevsis, Gladitorius and the multiple G1 placed Balius and you have a field that will be tough to match this year! |

YET. :) |

EDIT - he has won 3 G1s but isnt on racingpost's entries or on many of the bookmakers lists |

Happy Boy is starting to find his form after Godolphin butchered him.
Assuming he's actually entering - I'll take him in an upset in the World Cup. |
Aren't a bunch of these Group 1 horses South African which means they may not exactly be world class?

Wasn't he a late scratch last year? |
Go Niconero!

3 races this season... 11th, 2nd, 2nd. I think My Indy, Muller, Asiatic Boy, possibly Muhannak (Ryan Moore got the mount) and Well Armed have more of a shot but I'm wrong most of the time, so... (These aren't picks... just who I'm finding interesting). |

Don't forget, Archi won in HK... http://www.hkjc.com/english/racing/r...2008&raceno=08 As far as being world class? I think Vodka has proved herself and some would argue the same for Tuesday Joy. |

I just saw odds where he's 16/1... guess we'll know after the barrier draw tomorrow! |

Oh well. Thanks for the news, Brock. Sucks but thank you. Damn. |
Vodka was Japan's HOY last year, she's quite legit. Archipenko has run huge in Dubai, Hong Kong and the US where he was a decent 2nd in the Arlington Million.
Niconero won 2 G1's inside 7 days in OZ in jan and Feb. One at under a mile the other at abt 10f. He's won 4 G1's. Lady Marian won the Prix Vermeille (?) on the Arc undercard, but 9f might be short for her. Jay Peg has G1's in Dubai and Asia for deKock. Tuesday Joy is a 5x G1 winner in Sydney. Creachadoir has run well in Europe and Asia in G1 racing. Hyperbaric and Presvis may be a bit lower class but their best is very good. Presvis has won 2 at the Carnival and seems to like the course. The top 7-8 in this field are very good and very legit "world class" horses. |
I thought Vodka had a tough trip in her last... never had anywhere to run.
Of course Im not as smart as some others on this board. I need the PP's before I decide who I will bet.:D Love the avatar, Brockguy. DRAMA! |
Hot off the presses 4 days early --- "VODKA CRUSHES FIELD IN THE DUBAI DUTY FREE!!!"
If you don't agree with this prediction, I totally understand, however, this is my bet for the race, because this horse had no room in his last race for a good 300 meters down the stretch and was just crying for room!!! Easy winner if he gets a clean run. 200 wp 10 pik 3 Vodka Quijano Asiatic boy 5 pik 4 (if there is one) all Vodka Quijano Asiatic boy p.s. some people can come up with singles, they dont have to rely on picking 4 horses each race like some on this site. |
I'm leaving.

Have to say I strongly fancy Archipenko and Vodka to do the business here. There should be a strong pace with Jay Peg and Gladitorious in the field but these guys are adaptable enough and should be positioned handily.
One to look out for on the US pmu could be Prevsis. He's a G1 winner waiting to happen and he's only 8-1 with Bookies over here. He will surely be much bigger over in the States.. 9f may be a tad short for him, as I see him being a 10-12f performer throughout the year, but he is such an exciting horse.. |

Hyperbaric, I'm eternally grateful that you were able to lure T Baze away from SOCAL for even a few days (an example of God's bountiful mercy.)
